Exactly. I never liked this move. As this video states, it would’ve made WAY more sense for Steve to give the shield to Bucky. Yes, he had red in his ledger that he wasn’t proud of…BUT…it would’ve made for a more compelling story to watch Bucky struggle with his worthiness despite his bloody-past, and eventually see him forgive himself, and emerge anew. But…nooooo….Disney is SO consumed with “The Message” (Credit: The Critical Drinker) that they made a nonsensical-decision to make Sam the new Captain America.

There's a lot of talk about superhero fatigue. It isn't superhero fatigue. It's bad movie fatigue.
Been into superheroes most of the 55 years of my life. Give me a good movie and I'm there. But if it's crap, it's crap. You nailed it.
I MISS watching good MCU movies. None of my friends were into them so I would smoke some pot (which I never do, I had to ask a friend for some each time) and go watch them by myself. I looked forward to each movie and have rewatched many of them. Right up until Endgame, and I haven't watched one since.

After Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was painfully pandering and Sam bending over backwards to try and make us sympathize with a literal terrorist, I don't give a rat's ass anymore about Captain America. The MCU is a horse with a broken leg desperately trying to outrun the farmer while he loads his shotgun to put it out of it's misery.

I think Spiderman no way home was awesome, and Engame, After that, I have not went to see anything from them. Chris Gore showed on F Threat, The writers of these shows know one thing. Make the 1st episode recognizable on the new shows, then introduce the Re Turd Ooh Mmm Sheeee Uuuu. I don't watch anything new. Been watching re runs like crazy and loving it. If you hate your self that much then theirs plenty of new turd sandwiches out there. Anything from the US now sucks, or is just mediocre. You kind of have to hate your self to be like, man I want to watch a show that is a 1/10 because I am bored and get lectured to lol. I am also soooo freaking tired of REMAKES, there never better than the original lol.
In the comics Bucky does become Captain America, they gave it to the black guy to appease DEI and ESG.

From his first introduction, he was able to have a fun banter with Steve, showed he cared for other veterans, quickly rejoined the fight when he saw Steve and Natasha in trouble, stood against governmental pressure when he saw how the accords were bad, was the one who told Steve and Bucky to escape (even stating that his capture would let them escape to stop Zemo), and supported Steve throughout the years. As Steve told him (using the same words that the doctor told Steve before he got juiced up), he is a good man. Sam did earn it. However, the writers ruined him in the miniseries (as they did with so many other characters).
Grown children make these films now.
Children who have driven away so many competent filmmakers they could have learned from.
That's why no one goes to watch these things anymore.

@@coolwata105 in the comics he has a bird Redwing with whom he telepathic communicates. Sometimes it’s birds in general. In the movies Redwing was a drone - which could make him a technopath - but in the comics he was hunted by Sentinels in his mini-series and has technically been a mutant since the 1980s. It’s just rarely directly addressed.

I would've cared if Bucky had gotten the shield. Don't care about captain falcon. Didn't work in the comics and is just as bad in the MCU. Completely wasted Bucky's redemption arc. Him getting the shield would be the logical next step
Bucky is easily one of the most interesting characters.
I'm confident that it will be garbage. They simply will not learn their lesson.
I was kind of surprised that they completely skipped over Bucky taking over the mantle of Cap since it's exactly what happened in the comics before eventually being taken over by Sam years later.
And then of course reality set in that it was probably initially planned out that way but CURRENT YEAR happened and they needed a black Captain America now.
All the hints and nods of Bucky using the shield was for it to be rugpulled from him and given to someone else who realistically can't even use the shield properly.
As a lifelong comic book fan, and someone who's enjoyed the MCU in it's earlier years, I've lost the willpower to care about it at this point.
Bucky isn't black. Or gay. That's all that matters. Not earning it.

You guys laugh about losing money now but people laughed at Netflix too. The strategy works. It's annoying(maybe because I thought it'd fail) but, these brain dead strategies usually end up printing money. Women aren't canceling their subs. I live next to women Disney customers, and they DON'T CARE. So, Disney might lose money on marvel and star wars, but the core customer will deliver. Just how subscription services are. Once you got em, you might lose 0.5% here or there, which is what Disney is losing, but the price hike of 5% always covers it.

I haven't cared about most things since about 2019, it wasn't perfect but I still felt there was much to enjoy, since then it's gone far worse and I only see it getting worse.

Which is extra annoying since they had oodles of the stuff floating around the script in _Falcon and the Winter Soldier._ Instead the writers just decided that the super-soldier serum had a bad case of Conservation of Ninjitsu, where the more people dosed with the serum, the weaker they all became until normal, if fit, guy Sam Wilson had no more trouble keeping up with the 'super soldiers' than empowered Bucky.
Despite his politics, Evans was the greatest Captain.
That IS the basic problem with Sam as Cap. I have no problem with the actor or with the Falcon character as the person to take over, but you've gotta have a "we figured out the super soldier serum" scene or "we saved one vial" or something like that. Captain America isn't just a guy who wears a costume.
Captain America isn't the serum either. It's Steve Rogers. That is all.
I have no problem with Sam Wilson. He can be a great character if written well.
The problem is the narrative around Bucky has always pushed him toward taking the mantle from Steve. You’re looking at a man made to kill against his will trying to find redemption by continuing his friend’s legacy, vs Sam who just took it because Steve passed it his way.
At the end of the day, if this were the film’s biggest issue going in, I’d go see it. As it is now, the MCU needs to prove the magic is back with sustained, consistent, quality writing.
I didn't either, I liked Falcon, but shoving him into the CA role just kinda shat on the Falcon character like it wasn't good enough. Also as Dave pointed out, it makes no sense as he isn't a super soldier, while Bucky is. All to appease DEI.

Reasons why it won't work:
- The very high cost of making the film.
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series felt poorly executed, reducing Sam Wilson, a character I liked, into a slog of a series. The writing didn't really make much sense in how it depicted Sam Wilson as a nobody (including issues with race and virtue signaling) when he was already established as a hero in the past movies.
- It's being shown that this upcoming Captain America film is a complete production hell with nonstop reshoots, lack of scripts, rewrites, and seemingly no direction of where to take the story.
It's just not worth it. Endgame was truly the end of a great series.

Wilson would have his arms ripped off by the first moderately powered villain. Bucky deserved it from his redemption arc, but he has insufficient melanin, so they slouch onwards.
I've said from the beginning that bucky should've been the new captain America. It only makes sense. But of course we couldn't do that.
There hasn't been anything worth watching since Infinity War with the exception of Guardians 3.

Lack of superhuman strength aside, I loved Falcon and would have been hyped for this new movie if not for how crappy the Falcon and Winter Soldier show was. His sister couldn't get a bank loan because of racist whites, white cops trying to harrass falcon for just existing as black, etc. I didn't even finish that mess. It was more divisive trash and so many other Marvel movies and shows lately have been as preachy and divisive, and worse. So nah, there's no way I'd pay to see this.
Everything you said. Falcon and winter soldier’s biggest crime? It was BORING! Fight scenes that lacked emotion, actors that lacked passion (and who could blame them with the lazy Writing that they were contending with) and incredibly forgettable villains. I’ve seen Anthony Mackey do great in other films. But in this show? It’s so obvious that his heart isn’t in it. And we, the viewers are expected to buy in when the actor himself hasn’t… only Gene Hackman posses the kind of talent where he can phone it in and we’re fine. I was extremely disappointed because my expectations were pretty high after Scarlett which show. I was really disappointed. Just a mediocre in every way show.
They made the black guy Captain America because, you know, "THE MESSAGE". This is why the entire franchise is a joke. 😆

The MCU really died after Endgame. GOTG3 is the only post Endgame MCU movie I saw at the big screen.
I also think it's important to note that the director for Brave New World has one major credit to his name, The Cloverfield Paradox. so i'm not holding high expectations on this one.

The only way to save it is to bring Tony back, he sees all the hypocrisy and how the "heros" are moving so far in one direction they're becoming the villains, he reminds them of what Cap really stood for and they unite over a common good and see that everything else is just a petty irrelevancy that divides them.

'Twas a mistake not to give the shield to Bucky. Nice sentiment with Sam but he's no super soldier and it's extraneous when he's flying. Bucky made so much more sense but diversity... Not particularly interested in Captain America without Steve Rogers, tho'. And don't mistake this fact: Marvel KNOWS what makes a good movie; they just won't do it anymore. It's like them trying to jam a square peg in a round hole and saying, "See? It fits." No, it doesn't.

Mostly just don't care about Marvel anymore; the way they concluded Endgame (by using gimmicky time travel) just didn't sit right with me, and I haven't really gone out of my way to watch any of the movies ever since.
In the comics after Steve's supposed death Bucky became cap America. Nobody is interested in a Cap. America movie without Steve Rogers. Just like the comics. For some insane reason marvel comics has been trying to get rid of Steve Rogers for decades. Since the late 80's, marvel would have to keep bringing him back. In 2003 marvel comics rewrote Steve's origin. Marvel created a black character that was never mentioned before, his name is Isaiah Bradley. He was the first Cap. America. In the comic Steve visited him in prison and thanked Isaiah Bradley for his service.

Come on, we all know the reason. Anyone not white and male can do anything better than them without any superpowers or training. This is really the problem with Hollywood these days, there is no character arc or growth any more. I have no problem with the gender or colour of any characters as long as their story is well written and told. I really object to any characters being aromatically better solely because of their gender or colour and for no other reason than that.

Quick Incredible Hulk rant: This is absolutely an underrated movie! I made my own fan edit taking out some of the sappy moments and putting in some awesome deleted scenes, and there's a lot to love here. The biggest problem was Liv Tyler. She makes a great elf, but not such a good scientist. They spent too much time focusing on a love story that just wasn't working between these two. So, I love the idea of bringing back Sterns... But really wish they would recast Betty.
And yeah, Bucky needs to be Cap, and Sam needs to be Falcon. After watching the Falcon and Winter Soldier series, I don't see how this can possibly work.
That airport scene still stands out as one of the best showcase of powers and wow moments. Ant man getting fired off of Hawkeyes arrow into Iron Mans armour in the trailer alone blew my mind then we got so much more ❤

1:42 While it'd make sense, likely a lot of people would have a problem with the guy who was the Winter Soldier picking up the mantle, even if he was under mindd control. Frankly if this series was in the hand of more competent writers they have go all the way with the White Wolf stuff and made Bucky a prominent character in Black Panther 2, adopting the mantle of White Wolf to help protect Wakanda which has become a new home for him.
Yeah a "white savior" in the movie that "belongs" to black people, that would never happen. There's a real one sided pettiness when it comes to support and unity.
