Back in '75 a good friend of mine had a '67 Beaumont 396 4-barrel 4-speed 2 door hardtop. Was a really nice car. And I had my '67 Chevelle 396 4-barrel 4-speed 2-door post at the same time. Those were a couple of great summers. Look forward to seeing more on this Beaumont. Be safe and stay well.
Great looking and ultra rare 68 SD....although very tastefully done, there are a few deviations from factory correct that can be seen. Now those items would be owner preferences, and that is fine. But when portraying a car as restored, one must be sure to ensure it is restored, and not lightly modifyed. Of course its colors have been changed, and again very well done, and a great choice to have it colored in! I applaud the build sheet documentation confirming the original colors. Its great to see this rare car on display, and yes, being a Canadian built creation, makes it by far rarer than its equivalent Chevelle cousins.
The Beaumont name is sort of interesting. In 1963 my parents bought an Acadian Beaumont wagon. We flew to Toronto and then on to the Oshawa GM plant to pick it up. The Acadian came in two versions back then; the Canso which was the more basic trim package and the Beaumont which was more deluxe. It was essentially a re-badged Chevy II and had the 194 CI straight 6 and 2 speed Powermatic transmission. In 1971 I put a 327 in that car using all factory parts ( engine mounts, exhaust manifold, front sump oil pan, and oil pump). ( I live in Vancouver and worked at a Dueck's on Broadway, a Chev-Olds dealer in 1971-73 and drove all these old cars.) In 1965 my father bought a 1965 Acadian Beaumont which, for that year, was a re-badged Chevelle. It had the 283 CI engine. I didn't know or just lost track that Pontiac dropped the Acadian name and just put the Beaumont badge on this car. They later resurrected the Acadian name and essentially rebadged the Chevette; a short live POS. Lovely car you have there.
I owned one of these in 1977.. i purchased it in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.. i loved that car, and being British at the time did not understand what a rare gem i had. Thanks for the memory. Interestingly, mine had an inline 6 cylinder engine, was black with black interior, and had grandprix/USA metal badges on the front lower fender area. Anyone know more about these cars, id be interested in being ponted to a club or website.
Fuck boys well done! She’s a beautiful ride. I grew up with a guy in Lac du bonnet who had a sweet Beaumont so this brings back memories. I will be in touch with you guys this summer as I have a 65 Merc M100 I wanna do a 5.0swap for the wife
Beautiful car! Your comment about it not being a Pontiac is confusing. As you held up the historical document it states that it is a Pontiac Beaumont. Secondly the VIN # is for a Pontiac of Canada vehicle. I know half the people out there say that because it does't say Pontiac anywhere on the vehicle and that the emblems are different from any other Ponchos it makes it not a Pontiac.
Sounds like Sport Deluxe was GM Canadian Pontiac badge engineering for a Beaumont version of the Chevy SS trim and other Pontiac SD model badging was related to certain performance big block engine versions that were Pontiac options. Anyway these are special cars like so many others sold in Canada before the Auto Pact of 1965 when the playing field was finally leveled for the big 3 and the failed tariffs dropped.
That's a fine machine
Sure is Dan. You can see it at WOW if you're going. 2 Beaumont SD's there apparently.
Greeting Rene to you and your lovely wife. Beautiful job! See you a 2023 Sobering Car Show. From Dave’s Mom in Abbotsford.

it's easier to just say it's a gm that was sold at pontiac dealerships but it's mostly chevy. it's a gm beaumont.
I always thought that SD stood for super duty
Typically it does, but not on this particular car.
