  • This is a simple quilt made from one layer cake. It takes 42 10" X 10" fabric squares to create 42 quilt blocks. You have a lot of design freedom with this easy block. You can add yardage but for this video I only used the layer cake.
    The fabric is called Sincerely Yours by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda. It has pink, purple, orange and cream colors. Great for any one liking these colors, or as a Valentine's gift or decor.

    I can hardly believe how rude people are on here. You can fast forward if you want to and turn the music down if you want to. She is just showing some basics. It's obviously not a quilt for a judged show. Why do women feel it's necessary to hate on each other all of the time. So sad.

    I think I would have done one more cut per block and done it more scrappy, but it was very nice, and shows that you can have a lovely design easily, especially for new quilters and sewists! Many people don't want to use big pieces of cloth when they start, and this shows that you can make something lovely, make it your own and need have no fear of cutting blocks when you start!

    Sometimes, you just need a “quick” quilt to wrap someone in a hug. This one is perfect for a big finish in a short time. I’m sure it’s quite warm. I’m a “make a simple quilt” person, so I think it’s something to add to my list.

    Y’all had my same thoughts. Quilts are a comforting, warm loving way to say I love you. Unless your trying to win a ribbon with your quilt then don’t put to much emphasis on perfection. It comes out nice! I also think those imperfections make the character of the quilt.

    Really like this pattern it's really quick and easy... And I am a bit of perfectionist... So watching you not lining up the edges of your favorite is driving me crazy... But the pattern is very forgiving and like you said you can't square up your squares which will make the final assembly easy And accurate

    You said to be careful about sewing while it was orientated in the same direction (small block on top) but at that point I don't think it would have mattered if you had sewed the opposite seam instead. If you had seamed the to short sides maybe but the 2 long sides would have made the same block (just flip it around).

    • @SoftSquares
      @SoftSquares  2 роки тому

      You can do this with any size and fabric you like. If you choose to just use 2 colors I think it would be stunning. The purpose of this video is to show what you can do if you have a Layer cake, which is a package of 10"x10" squares of different patterns and colors that are all from the same line. All the fabrics from that line are designed to work together. But you don't have to use a layer cake to use this pattern.

    I am currently working on this pattern. I believe assembly is 6 blocks across & 7 rows down. Is that correct? Has anyone ever sewn sashing strip between to increase size? Thank you loved this process ♥️

    Sorry the description is not right, I try to be helpful... for the second cut, if the direction is followed, you will have two cuts in the same direction, parallel to each other. You need to say rather, to "cut in the opposite direction," from the first cut. I really like your method for sewing the rows together. All the best.

    I like this pattern a pity you weren't more careful with you sewing and ironing of seams if it was intended for beginners, it is a great beginners quilt but they need to see how to and perhaps a little more dialogue explaining steps better, otherwise love your choic of layer cake colours, think I will use this pattern for my next charity quilt, thank you.

    too much music, too much video with you sewing straight pieces., should have shown some of your decisions on your design wall., besides writing the steps you should explain, not everyone understands written patterns and pointing doesn't help. Fast forwarded to see final quilt.
