Good to see ALL of the work involved for making even a simple quilt - thank you for not editing much out. A good reality check for makers and recipients.
Hey Kimberly, I would LOVE to see a picture of the quilt top before you fold it up and set aside for the quilter. I usually skip to the end of quilt videos to see if the final product fits my style. This one seems to fit, but I couldn't get a good look at the finished top!
I am thinking about quilting again. I taught myself long before the internet and UA-cam were even thought about. All I had was PBS, Alex Anderson, and Eleanor Burns. I just love all the channels on UA-cam now, but I really like watching your channel and going to your website. I think your challenge will get me going. I may not make the deadline, but I work better having one. Thank you for all the help you give us viewers. Your new quilt is beautiful. Stay healthy.
You always make such beautiful quilts and do such a nice job. Thank you for all your teaching. I like your layer cake tomorrow. That would be a great charity quilt.
Have the perfect layer cake for this project! My friend LOVES coffee…she needs this to snuggle on the porch while she has her morning coffee this spring. Time to get busy!
Kimberly, you amaze me. I just wish I had 1/2 of your energy and your creativity. Im 81 in good health except I had back issues and problems with my shoulder replacement. My mind wants to sew and my bodover rules it. I've just gotta get on with it. Im sure I've watched just about every video you've made starting with your first jelly roll quilt. Please continue with your great videos and inspirations.
Very fast and very cute! I have several layer cakes and need to turn one of them into this quilt! Just an FYI but for those who don't like how stiff the Sweetwater labels are because of the fusible (me!) it can be peeled off leaving just the fabric portion of the label.
Love this idea. I might actually finish something! I tend to get distracted when a project takes too long and jump to a new project. Thanks for sharing.
I really liked how you stacked them up in sewing order. That may be common but I thought that was very clever and would make it easier. loved the finished quilt.
After a busy day in my sewing room, I get to watch you and hand quilt! I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for your time, talent and posting this video!
I have a few layer cakes that I bought and have never used. I may need to get a quilt done with them so they are off my shelf! Can’t wait to see what Kimberly will make with hers!
I make a lot of these easy peasys to gift or just to welcome someone or to make friends etc. I love them because they show the fabrics well, and are fun to sew. Thanks for the idea.
Kimberly I enjoyed watching this video on making a quilt with one pack of layer cakes. I think it came out so cute this gives me a few ideas on how to use up my layer cakes. Thank you for the video
Thank you Kimberly.... such a wonderful and flexible pattern ... you can just use your layer cake or make a larger quilt with a coordinating background fabric!
I love your videos. As we're watching it you narrate what your doing, what you would do differently. I am going blind but still able to sew. I'm looking for projects like this one that have big pieces. It's harder now to work with 2 1/2" squares. I would love to know if you have any other patterns using 10" layer cakes. Thank you again. Sandy from Idaho 😊
Hello Sandy! Yes, we have a playlist that includes lots of layer cake patterns (along with other precuts): ua-cam.com/play/PLNTabBf7OG9LV-Lr1B-ddOqp8rJS9xL_a.html
I need to know how you folded and then squared the block. I shrunk some10" blocks and it was taking so much time to square them up. Love your videos and patterns
Great video. I had to laugh at your fabric for binding. My LAQ at least has me cut the binding into strips and join. She doesn't make me press it in half, though.
Could you please post the pattern. I have the perfect layer cake for this . Pretty Unicorns and I was contemplating what quilt I could make that would show more of the fabric. This is perfect! Thx again for all your videos quilting and cross stitch!
Great when you take a Screenshot...then collect the photos into an album, on your phone. Then...transfer them to your computer & print them as a group!
Curious about the quilt hanging on your wall ... It is probably a past SAL, but I have only been following you for two years now ... I figured it must be special to you as that spot would otherwise bd a great place for a design wall! Thanks Kimberly!!
Hello Karen! Yes, that is one of our previous charity quilts. We have more information here: blog.fatquartershop.com/2019-threadology-quilt-along-fabric-requirements/
Curious if you sewed around the perimeter of your two squares and then cut on the diagonal would it give you the same HST to make your hourglass blocks? I find starting to sew on a point that the fabric sometimes scrunches and clogs up.
Making a quarter square triangle block is the same as making an hourglass block, the only difference is the fabric placement to make the hourglass shape. We'll have another quilt video soon that will show the quarter-square triangle block.
Loved your layer lotto quilt. I use those Sweetwater labels like you because of you. I just love them. What a fun opportunity to win! Thank you. Definitely going to enter.
Hello Liz! Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to offer a balance of contests on social media and UA-cam by alternating where contests are available.
I love that machine. How many stitches per second does it do? Wow! Thanks for the tute.
Hello Nan! Approximately 200 to 1500 stitches per minute.
I am glad I am not the only person that has to make faces when I sew!!
I love the different face expressions you do when you see, iron trim you have a different expression for each lol
Reminds me of watching my Southern Alabama Grandmother as she concentrated on her sewing, too.
Have a new grand baby coming and this would be a fun project to make 🪡 Thank you for sharing this .

You did a great job on your quilt and you are such an efficient quilter. Love your sewing room. 😊
very cute- 20 hourglass and 16 plain makes for an adorable quilt
opps 16 hour glass i meant
I must make this quick and easy quilt! I had to chuckle at the way Kimberly bites her lips as she's concentrating while sewing. I find myself
I find myself nearly licking my lips raw when I'm sewing. 😆

' Press' with the iron do not 'iron' as the movement & weight of the iron can distort the layer cake.
Stop starching at the beginning. Love what you do.
Okay, seriously. How is your room so clean!! It’s the first thing I noticed. I love your videos.
It’s how she makes her living.
This is an adorable quilt. I love Kimberley’s easy series. I think I could do this one. Thank you Kimberley.
I sew the same way! Only thing different is that I use a design wall.
I love the design Kimberly came up with. The fabric is pretty!
What an amazing idea! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🧵
Happy quilting!

The most relatable moment for me is the headphones off one ear. I do this all the time to listen for kid and dog. Love the quilt! 💜💜

I LOVE this video!
Never thought to precut the triangles.
Better precision me thinks?
Will definitely keep this idea in the works.
Thankyou!!!
I think it's much better sewing the square before cutting. More accurate.
Thank you Kimberly. I love these short project videos - I always learn a new tip or two and get inspired to get with it!

Hi Kimberley, you've inspired me to get out my layers cakes and make a cute quilt.
Good morning from WV. I love layer cakes…so excited to see what you do today.

Cant see them on my iPad either. A real bummer …
Your quilt turned out beautiful!
Super cute! I have this layer cake, I might just need to make this now! 😊
Great video. I had to laugh at your fabric for binding. My LAQ at least has me cut the binding into strips and join. She doesn't make me press it in half, though.

Love your quilt and pattern! I’m making this one!
Woah!! What did you do when you folded the layer cake into a triangle and then cut a strip off. I rewatched 3x and still didnt get it.
Thank you.

Good morning from snowy Wisconsin love your sewing room
Love your quilting process and also your work layout, very organized.
May I ask if you had your sewing table customized? Quite pretty ❤❤
Hello Isabella! Kimberly's sewing table was custom made by a family member.
Great fast quilt!
Love this pattern, can't wait to try it! Your white lettering on your information sheet is very hard to read. Would be better in black
Love this I have lots layer cakes I want to use
I really liked this video. Thanks for the idea. Would be really easy to do for a quick and easy gift. Thank you!! I'll watch the jelly roll one next!
It would be nice if the contest had another way to enter. Some of us don’t use social media.
Hello Liz! Thank you for your feedback. We do our best to offer a balance of contests on social media and UA-cam by alternating where contests are available.
I love your table, what’s the best height for a sewing table?
Loved this tutorial !
