I think what Games Workshop made is their most spectacularly thoroughly playtested game in forever. Probably a coincidence that everyone seems to think it turned out well....
FYI damage spills over in AOS. So if a killbow does 6 damage to a 1 health infantry unit, 6 of them die. And if you bonk a Gutrippa for 3 damage, 1 and a half will die.
It kinda makes sense since pretty much all attacks are physical : one crushing blow from a gargantuan claymore probably slices through multiple blue horrors, as it's a sweep attack. When working with bows for example it's a bit counterintuitive sometimes
Yup.. and for those of us who can't justify the time and/or money for a full army it hits a sweet spot. I just bought my first box today. Night Haunts with Seraphon next. And a shout out to my local shop owner who steered me to Spearhead and away from Combat Patrol
I'm sorta hoping that boarding actions for 40k will be a better actually balanced combat patrol. Being able to pick from a selection of units may help.
I'm pretty new to Warhammer (haven't played a single game of 40K or AoS but I have a bunch of 40K units), just picked up the Soulblight Gravelords Spearhead box this weekend and now I'm super pumped to play my first game. Also, this is definitely the first time where you ACTUALLY might love something almost as much as your Patreon hehe. Keep it up, love the videos!
I already was on 1st spearhead tournament at my local score. And one of the greatest things is tat the rules for each faction are so simple. Before each fight i just need a short moment to known what ennemy army do. It was my 1st ever tournament that I won, I play aos over 5 years but I still have problems to remember not only what ennemy do, but also what my units do. In spearhead I acctualy known what to do. I love it ❤
Played my brother last night. He took orks. Gave his man-skewer the "covered in mud" ability and just sat in the back and sniped me. I did wood elves and used my Branchwych as a healer transporting around the board between the treelord and revenants.
I've played some Spearhead and will agree, it's the best miniatures game possibly ever made and definitely the best currently supported miniatures wargame.
Itd be absolutely crazy if they didnt, and so I am pretty sure they will. The different realms offer perfect opportunity for different terrains, boards, twists and battle tactics/commands
This makes me so happy. Minis are really expensive over here so it's good to know that, whenever I finally get into AOS, there will be a game mode that I will be able to play out of the box. Now I'm reeeeally wanting to get some gobbos... Patience, Nacho...
I'm stoked to see you excited about AoS - I appreciate seeing your Space Marine painting videos, because of the quality. But I'm super excited to see you paint other models.
My local community has been almost entirely 40K, MESBG and old world all year. We did one taster game of spearhead at my local store and within a week more than 10 people have picked up a box to get started themselves. Can’t speak about 4th edition in full yet but spearhead itself is just a fun game
After trying a couple games, Spearhead is what I wanted Combat Patrol to be. I will 100% be buying some(probably too many) Spearhead boxes purely for spearhead with no plan to expand the army (not that some won't get expanded).
My friend and I play 40k with his thousand sons combat patrol and my SoB combat patrol. We keep meaning to look into how to actually play the game but end up just playing until one person is wiped out. We just death match the crap put of each other. But now I'm really starting to feel like we're missing out on some way more fun ways to play the game
You've made me more excited to crack my Skaventide box and get building and painting. And I'm so stoked to learn that I can use my Dominion Kruleboyz army with the Spearhead book! Thanks!
The best thing that has ever happened to me in 40K was the last custodian in his unit took on and killed an ork deff dread through 2 rounds of incredible saves and lucky rolls
After playing 40k and starwars legion for several years. I gave Blood Bowl a try and felt exactly how Jay felt towards Spearhead. We love our armies and staying with what we know, but sometimes diving Into something new can be so refreshing.
I just finished collecting 2k pts of tyranid and 2k pts of space marine and now Age of Sigmar is in the spotlight, definitely interested in Age of Sigmar. I want to finish more of my 40k models before starting though so I hope spearhead retains its popularity.
I’m intrigued. I love 40k lore and models but im still learning how to play. I will definitely be keeping my eyes on Age of Sigmar for possible playing
I haven't really played any war games yet, even though i have a few painted 40k sets. And I'm definitely going with spearhead. I love seraphon even more than i thought i liked tyranids, so that'll be the box i get.
The big thing for me was the setup. 40k 10th and Sigmar 3rd have all of these strict rules to follow, then basically tell you to "trust your feelings" on terrain setup.
@@darthkek1953 yeah I can see that one of my cats at the moment is a bit dumb but also the cuddliest animal you will ever meet, but I would assume rats are easier to take care of. And also what army do you play (that’s if you play any games workshop games)
The only feels bad moment I’ve encountered so far is the fall back and rally card being used on a unit of stormfiends, returning two full health models to a unit I spent the whole game trying to kill…
I got to play spearhead a tad earlier than most and as someone entirely new to AoS as a whole the rules just made sense. Compared to 40K it's night and day
Was going to start building my first 40k army and been doing research for two weeks on what faction i want. Now this peaks my interest so back to the beginning i guess 😅
I'm very tempted by flesh eater courts spearhead, it just looks like fun models. Holding out hope for a votann box and they're teating me 2 different ways lol

If they make it so you take mortal wounds when you fall back, it would make melee focused armies even more insane at what they do. It would mean they need to tone down melee armies a bit.
Almost all armies in AoS are melee armies. Shooting does exist and can be good but the longest range I can think of is 24 inches. The only shooting focused faction is Kharadron Overlords and even then they have a some shooting weapons that can fire in combat.
I'm interested in spearhead because so many content creators are talking about it and how good it is. got to say im a new player to warhammer and i love warcry and spearhead. lets me have fun with my collection whilst being able to play a bunch of different options
Recently tried it out at a demo event, it was the first time trying a wargame on board so I had no clue what was going on, unfortunately I had spectacularly bad luck with the dice where often times only 3-4 attacks out of twenty even hit and then only one wounded

Quick, fun and easy to pick up. I’ve bought far too many Spearhead boxes to add to my collection as soon as I tried this out back at the Warhammer World event. However these days I'm playing "Warhammer underworlds" I can't praise enough the developers of WU, each warband is thematic and flavorful, no two warbands are alike, I dunno who's running that department but it appears GW is giving them free rein to design the game however they want. I can't explain but UW seems like a pretty standard GW game but has a lot outside the box thinking.

The timing is insane. Just yesterday I was looking at spearhead and wondering how it all works and here you are releasing this video
Hey just a FYI you don't draw 3 cards a turn you draw 3 at the start of the game and then ome card each subsequent battle round until you have 3 again. And you are able to discard them and replace them as you see fit
where do the cards and board come from the boxes seem to be just models? is there a starter i like skirmish not played GW for a while since a few years of warcry and kill team
All they need is a way to increase more options for army. Like allow for expansion by being able to swap out a unit for another.b
Good luck with those nighthaunt models, spirit hosts suck to assemble
can you do a video on the seraphon, they are cool dinosaur people
do you think picking up dominion is worth it for the spearhead factions and to bump up our goldenboy armies if we're coming into AOS and Spearhead new with the Skaventide box?
Dude, Jay, AOS in general is REALLY GOOD.
