I like batreps like this that aren't just watching dice being rolled, but explaining strategy, game mechanics, and your thoughts about the game as you narrate it
so I know battle report videos are super time consuming but this format- some fun visuals but mostly talking it through- was so helpful in working through how to actually play.
Yes, definitely looking forward to more 'podcast' battle reports. It'll be interesting to see how this settles when it isn't introducing a new game system and we hear more from the report, but it definitely has the potential for a regular feature.
I used to dislike the double turn idea but once I actually played AoS I understood why people like it and I love it now too. It adds a level of strategy to the game like “Do I go second in order to have a chance at double turn? Do I use a double turn now and give my opponent the chance to use it or do I forgo it for later?” It adds that level of nuance to the game.
Really love this video. I've got high hopes for spearhead. My main concern is the boardgame style battle map would get boring after a couple games. Also RIP Tom. He was always my favorite host
I don't think its really meant as a core game mode. It's supposed to be something that you play until you have enough for a full army using the core rules.
Really love this more casual and conversational battle report. I'd gladly take more of these over big cinematic ones. Assuming you can even keep going without Tom...
Hi good video again. But would like to talk about Murray's hall of heroes as we know that during the heresy the traitors statue's were covered with sheets, but did you know that in the vaults of terra books that they find 9 damaged plinths in another part of the palace and one of the characters mentioned how they look like the one's that are still in the hall of heroes so you could do the 9 primarchs then show the destroyed plinths to save time,
I (Dave) deliberately didnt kill any clan rats unless I killed all clanrats so I dont think it ever came up. I kindof surgically removed everything until only clan rats were left
"the P is silent when you write it" Murray - 2024. While other people are (rightly) remembering the HERO that was Tom we should all also take time to also remember not all heroes fly F-18s. Thank you Murray. for all that you do.
I haven't seen a Spearhead-game so far between the new Skaven and Stormcast that the rats have ended up as winners at the end of the game, makes me a bit worried about the balance. The game itself looks a lot of fun though.
I agree with the first turn charge thing - it really makes the whole spearhead experience look like 'oh, I get to go first, time to alpha strike one of your units with like 3 of mine and be way ahead all game!' edit - even if it doesn't end up playing out that way, it still feels bad and really limits using any ranged stuff in the format :s
What the what.... that sarah mccloclin tune and I thought I just woke up at 4am on the couch after a bender in the states. Donate now and you can help save these puppies.
The only downside to spearhead seems the units with movement 10 or 12 have a huge advantage, otherwise it's perfect, thanks for the commentary other bits of the game .
You mentioned the lubch time games? You monsters, dont reward GW for forcing the Devs to playtest the game during their lunch break rather than paid time!
This sounds like what combat patrol was supposed to be. It's a shame GW couldn't have gotten it right the first time, because I can't be bothered sinking money into another game system.
I'm sure there are tutorials out there on how to manipulate dice. Not that I am in any way suggesting that you should try that out in a friendly game..
It didnt help that I identified and dismantled all their strength on turn 1. Rat Ogres, Warplock Engineer Rifle and the Mounted Rat - Warplock engineer was in combat and never fired a round and the ogres dead t1
Could you maybe sometime dive into playing tabletop wargames without the painting part of the hobby, I am really not into painting and the collecting side of the hobby but would love to give the game a go without the steep barrier to entry
Ngl this spearhead game mode is really starting to look enticing. I may have to pick up this box (thus starting another two armies 🥲). Also RIP Tom, gone but never forgotten.
RIP Tom, I swear his crimson fist video (snippet seen in the in memoriam) is the best painting guide TTT has produced.
RIP me - The Tom Sheppard Estate
RIP to you Tom, you fought a brave fight, we will miss and mourn you 😭 ☕
@Gwenx thanks Gwen. Oops I mean 🛩💥💀...
Tom was the best of Tabletop Time, ain't going to be the same without him
I like batreps like this that aren't just watching dice being rolled, but explaining strategy, game mechanics, and your thoughts about the game as you narrate it
Coffee bit was amazing as always
so I know battle report videos are super time consuming but this format- some fun visuals but mostly talking it through- was so helpful in working through how to actually play.
Bold of you to try to gaslight your entire audience with the coffee bit, hahaha 🤣
tom...sweet tom...you will not be forgotten 😢
Yes, definitely looking forward to more 'podcast' battle reports. It'll be interesting to see how this settles when it isn't introducing a new game system and we hear more from the report, but it definitely has the potential for a regular feature.
Damn Spearhead seems solid. Might need to get the FEC

Best Spearhead video I've seen so far, most others are just bat reps. Good to have an actual review as well :)
DAVE LOST!!?? Praise be the Gods.
Also, we need more on Murray’s army of undead pirates. What are they doing Hysh?
No... No he didnt

RIP to Tom ❤😂
Great episode and great coffee bit! ☕
Bro I’m crying, RIP Tom
Tom was my favourite part of TT. It's not the same without him...
Have you considered battle reports of non-games workshop games? Like one page rules or mantic's firefight?
Can we play turnip
@@TabletopTimeyes please play turnip! I want to make a turnip army myself because of you guys! 😂
@TabletopTime That would be lovely. The small warband-type games are prime candidates for narrative bite-size campaigns.
it would be awesome if in more of these midweek videos you went over battles you had done in the week its always great to see how people play.
The fact that Tom bought the farm and Murray lost even though he painred his miniatures with the Murray Mrthod (tm) makes this a sad episode
Oh Tom, gone too soon. We'll miss you.
What a way to go out. RIP Tom. Always going above.. and beyond.
❤
Really love this more casual and conversational battle report. I'd gladly take more of these over big cinematic ones.
Assuming you can even keep going without Tom...
Rip Tom, I'll have a coffee for you mate!
I’m so sorry you lost your friend. He seemed like a lovely guy
gosh the coffee bits are just the best. tho nothing will top... that one.
'The P is silent when you write it'
Made me chuckle
Man RIP Tom. He was always my favorite Tabletop Time host. Guess I have to settle for Dave and his shenanigans now.
Hi good video again. interesting
Very enjoyable video. Did you regenerate d3 clanrats at the end of every turn or did I miss that?
I (Dave) deliberately didnt kill any clan rats unless I killed all clanrats so I dont think it ever came up. I kindof surgically removed everything until only clan rats were left
"the P is silent when you write it" Murray - 2024. While other people are (rightly) remembering the HERO that was Tom we should all also take time to also remember not all heroes fly F-18s. Thank you Murray. for all that you do.
We should change the channel name to “Table Top Tom” in his memory.
3:42 isn't that why you can't hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom? Because the P is silent?
Cool game preview.
I hope to see you play Legions imperialis sometime in the future :)
I do like a look of Spearhead, I may play it on a slightly n=biger board though. But that's me 😅
I haven't seen a Spearhead-game so far between the new Skaven and Stormcast that the rats have ended up as winners at the end of the game, makes me a bit worried about the balance. The game itself looks a lot of fun though.
The skaven force is really weak, they have too many characters and their core units of clanrats are tissue paper.
The coffee stories killing me :D
I have the sqig but I need the nurfling
I agree with the first turn charge thing - it really makes the whole spearhead experience look like 'oh, I get to go first, time to alpha strike one of your units with like 3 of mine and be way ahead all game!'

Very fun. Thanks.
Not enough topless volleyball.

Yay battle report? Ish?
"Just look at the colors, it makes it really accessible!" *cries in colorblind*
Did homeboy say "marrick" in the top gun scene? oof.
The only downside to spearhead seems the units with movement 10 or 12 have a huge advantage, otherwise it's perfect, thanks for the commentary other bits of the game .
We must construct the golden throne for tom
May Tom rest in pieces 😢
Nobody:
Literally no one:
The Rode Shotgun Mic: 🤥🤥🤥
Gonna miss you Tom 😢
RIP Tom.
He was too young.
Ground control to major Tom
Intro super strange, but great video!
Come on now Dave, you cant cross the streams... Top Gun or Aliens! Rookie nerd error :D
Vaughn said "say plane crap* and I just said words I'm sorry
@@TabletopTime hahahaa still good, love you guys 😁
The p is silient when you write it. 🙂

Sorry for your loss…
(Not actually sorry, it’s a bit)
Daverick was never the same after the loss of tom
RIP Tom
Nooooo! Not Tom!
Sponsored segment stops at 14:25
Cool 👍
There's no rule that says a can't.... classic
I'm sure there are tutorials out there on how to manipulate dice. Not that I am in any way suggesting that you should try that out in a friendly game..
I'm not sure that I will be able to watch anymore. Not with Tom gone 😢 it just won't be the same without him.
It felt like the skaven were quite under power compared to the stormcasts
It didnt help that I identified and dismantled all their strength on turn 1. Rat Ogres, Warplock Engineer Rifle and the Mounted Rat - Warplock engineer was in combat and never fired a round and the ogres dead t1
For tom
Dont know why but all warhammer stuff seems to be hugely geared to melee combat, including 40k which is full of guns and tanks 🤷. Weird
Man that map is barely 3.5 inches long, what's the point of that scale lol.
Jesus GW really wants to be spearhead to be a thing. Good luck with that. Can you even play the game if you didn't buy the big starter?
O7 Tom
Could you maybe sometime dive into playing tabletop wargames without the painting part of the hobby, I am really not into painting and the collecting side of the hobby but would love to give the game a go without the steep barrier to entry
FIRST COMMENT. It currently says no views.
Why even say that it's so sad
It's ok UA-cam analytics is just broken
far too many cuts in your editing!! :D
Tom was the only reason I watched. Unsub
Well, trying to learn how to play by watching you... but by christ, the jump cuts make it look like you both have tics.
Very distracting.
Sorry! We tried a different way of doing things in this video, and it made it to the top of our "don't do it like that again" list
