Spider-Verse is the best movie of the last decade. No? We were all completely blown away. It is animation at it's absolute pique, no question. And from Sony of all people just coming off the backs of the Emoji movie! But how did they do it? How many camera techniques go into a single scene? And which scene is it that turned Spider-Verse from a good movie, to a great movie? Let's discuss today as we talk about the scene that CHANGED Spider-Verse...

...This was a little different of a scene to what we're used to. But I had a lot of fun slowing it down. And Bad Guys overall is just such a fun movie to watch. - Фільми й анімація
This video now has SPANISH SUBTITLES! If that's more your thing, it can now be an option :)
surprised nobody commented lol
The fact that this comment is in English
its leap of fate
"But who wants a 3-hour video essay pointing out every detail of Spider-Verse frame-by-frame?" Me. I very much want that.
Please I literally have a 5 hour essay in my watch later that’s about Sam and Cat.
Like TBskyen but not just for league
ofcourse right?
i didn't watched the movie.. but i think watchinghe explains would be more nice
Same here
Yes please
Always have to bring up that while she doesn't get a lot of screen time in the film, Olivia Octavius actually became my favorite version of one of my favorite Super Villain and I think its pretty due to how extremely well they did her reveal, personality, design, fighting style, etc. all in this one small scene.
I’m honestly impressed at how they managed to keep it a secret
no
@@mrblueguy7537 So true!
@@mrblueguy7537 So true!
She has something that really makes her a Super Villain.
And what is that you're asking?
PRESENTATION!!!!!!
My absolute favorite part of this movie is him throwing and decalaring "good news we don't need the monitor". It is relatable most younger humans understand that a monitor can be sourced from many locations. It is also an attempt for Peter to make an actively decaying situation a little easier by removing part of Miles's burden. It is funny in that Miles IS INEXPERIANCED and so under pressure he grabbed everything. Its funny that in reality they probably only need the HDD so the entire case is also useless as well.
But it would take time to extract the HDD from the case.
Notice how the lights are not only shaped like octagons, running with Liv’s theme, but it’s also shaped like Miles is caught in a spider web!!!!
Yes
Me: Can this movie be more amazing?
Your comment: *yes*
One of my favorite parts about this scene that hasn't been mentioned is when Peter tells Miles to "calm down". It reminded me of when Gwen tells Miles this exact same thing when Miles has his hand stuck to her hair. With the revelation that Gwen is a spidey, it changes what she says. She's not just saying to calm down because he's making a scene, she is telling him how to unstick, just like Peter in this lab scene.
I absolutely ADORE this movie. The Leap of Faith is my favourite scene in media.
Mine too. I love that he broke the glass when launching because his hands were stuck to it because he couldn't relax
And how the script for that scene said "Miles isn't falling, he's rising."
It's just perfect
The scene where his dad talks to a door and thinks Miles is not responding because he does not want to is heartbreaking.
I thought the scene would be when the Peter Parker from Miles's universe died and "I'm Not Scared of the Dark" played while the information went public. That scene gave me chills, still does, and I feel like it's when this movie becomes more mature and inspiring, instead of just a mildly entertaining, pretty fun watch.
The whole movie was just awe inspiring as a whole. In all honesty somebody could say any scene was their favorite and I’d believe them, they were all good
11:09 I love the one scientist on the center-left who just wants to drink her coffee, an eye-roll and a resigned head-hanging are all you need to see to know she's so over it lol, I freakin' love this movie!
I know right? She probably hoped she could work normally now that spiderman was gone, and then two (three... six) show up 😂
Never saw that before and it kills me. Thank you for pointing it out.
I love how Sony is also improving on their newest animated movies, like "Vivo" and "The Mitchells VS The Machines," because those are also my favorites. "Into The Spider-Verse" literally saved the studio.
11:07 I never see anyone pointing out the lady with the coffee mug being the only one not raising a weapon and instead looking irritated by all her co-workers like if this is something that happens a lot
She slumped over in defeat 😂
"These characters feel naturally funny, as opposed to being forced to say funny lines some writer wrote..." Spot on.
I have such an issue with how dialogue is handled in so many movies today that are "comedic." This is how great comedy can work so well. Spot on!
Small detail I don't think you mentioned was the subtle set up of the line "I'll re-examine my personal biases" referencing his plan assuming the lead scientist is a man and not a woman. He (and most audience members) is then once again lead astray by the assumption of "this = man" when it's revealed that same woman is in fact a version of his Otto Octavius.
When Spider-Man is better at talking about the multiverse (not literally talking but you know) than Dr. Strange 2, then you know that the Spider-Man people are doing things right!👍
that scene when the spiders are talking about the people they lost (uncle ben) would be a good topic for a video like this. Like they could have made the Spider ham response be some dumb joke or pun but they kept the moment serious.
They really had Peter Porker deliver the hardest hitting line. "The hardest part of this job is you can't always save everyone."
Spider verse is such a good movie, i didn't have any issues until a few months after i watched it, when a show came out and the va for the anime girl, Kimiko Glenn, played the mc. I got obsessed with that show and I just wanted more scenes with Peni Parker
The fact I only had 1 issue with Spider verse only a few months after it came out, with the issue basically being "I want more of this character" shows how this movie is one of the best movies of all time
Wow wow slow down there body. It doesn't even get to the top 100. Still great tho.
@@MuffinEnjoyer it does, easily
@@matteopinn1754 nah, it is visually perfect tho. People forget the difference between how it looks to what it really has.
What show? I really wish there was more of her too!
@@MuffinEnjoyer You've said a whole bunch of nothing.
I think the scene that changed my entire views was the ‘What’s up Danger?’ scene. Seeing Miles grow was amazing.
I personally Really love the line that Peter says "Ok.. not gonna turn invisible, selecting a bagel!"
Can we all agree that for most of the forest scene, Liv seemed to be having fun, or some sort of wonder?
I admit it's a great scene, but I think the best scene in Spiderverse is the scene where the rest of the spider gang leave Miles and he hears his dad. Hugely emotional, all of the Spider gang showing they really do care about Miles and want him to succeed, Miles' dad's accepting of the new side of Miles followed with the triumph as he uses his powers intentionally for the first time. Amazing storytelling in a meaningful way.
I still tear up at "you don't have to say it back"
The detail with Miles being animated on twos until he learns to swing when he's animated on ones is absolutely INCREDIBLE and I never would have put that together but it makes so much sense! This is probably my favorite movie to date because of how well-made it is! So much thought and detail in every frame, character, and scene.
I have to note: Gwen TKO Doc Oct through head trauma. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but that's how Peter's dies in the comic... Multiple concussions over the years took their toll.
I like to think that Spiderverse was Sony's apology for the Emoji Movie
If it was, I definitely forgive Sony. And besides, they're doing a lot better on their animated movies.
I am dead serious when i say i want a3 hour frame by frame analysis from you
One of the funniest recurring bits in this movie is the fact that Sunflower is Miles' favorite song, but he doesn't know most of the lyrics.
Fun fact, but the shot with Gwens feet (in ballet shoes) shows her standing in third position... one of the 5/6 feet positions that make up the foundation of ballet. Third spider-person, third position. 8 years of ballet and 5 viewings of this film... and I only just noticed this now!
Peter B being shown to be out of shape but as soon as he switches into Spidey mode with his stretches becoming a greek god is so needlessly funny to me for some reason.
I absolutely want a 3 hour celebration of this cinematic masterpiece piece frame by frame
I love the movie, it has funny scenes that doesn’t ruin the moment, great music, u can empathy with the characters, some realistic moments that hero movies don’t show, its never boring to me and MY FAVORITE PART… The art, omg the style of the movie, the backgrounds, the colors- everything is so perfect and I LOVE this movie
(Also i love spider man so it makes it better for me)
The particle effect is called Kirby Krackle, based off a comic partice style Jack Kirby coined when doing art for Marvel in the early days
If you're referring to the lighting, those are halftones. The particle effect in the super collider is Kirby Krackle.
3 hour analysis of the film? Yes
11:18
If only he knew how much it really did change spider-verse
into the spider verse was an amazing film i’ll be so honest i can’t wait for the second one
this is literally the best movie ever and i will continue to stand by that until another movie gets me into the cinemas four times just to watch it alone
I feel that! I never rewatch movies unless it's been years and I've forgotten them. But this one I saw 3 times in theaters with different people, and then went and bought the Blu-Ray despite not owning a Blu-Ray player just to support it and collect the case.
thats quite the subjective opinion you're deciding to treat as fact
im not even joking, I would 100% watch a 3hr video essay pointing out all the lil details in spiderverse lmao
Hands down one of the best Spider-Man movies to be made EVER. The way the characters interact, the story, the art direction - all of it so beautifully done.
Never get tired of spiderverse explanation videos it's visually satisfying to watching while also being interesting to learn about
When seeing the notification that you were doing a scene analysis of spiderverse, I genuinely did not think of any scene other than the whats up danger reverse fall, now THAT is THE scene that gave me the most chills in this movie
10:05 Now THIS joke is my bread and butter.
All the funny comes from Peters nonchalant demeanor! He takes a beating while tied up, is then thrown through a wall very violently to then nonchalantly pop up, care freely trot up next to miles and proclaim, "let me tell you the good news". We the audience are subconsciously yelling "WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE GOOD NEWS RN or NICE YOU HAVE A PLAN TO GET OUTTA HERE" but it's just too simply not carry the monitor. Add the movement you mentioned with his arms as he yeets it, and you have me laughing my arse off.
This sequence is generally my favorite too for your reasons, but I adore the "Squidward" level Lady as the other scientists were gearing up 😂😂
the store bought costume that miles is wearing is the exact same kind of costume that I used to wear as a kid. my mom hated it cuz i never took it off and a lot of things around the house got broken because i thought i could parkour around the house. I was five.
Bagel scene really did change Spider-verse...
Hey dazz, just to let you know a couple of weeks ago i went to the fringe and went to see your biscuit barrel waffering heights. It was by far my favourite and most original show that i saw there. I was wondering though was the chair breaking part of the act? My favourite skits were the winnie taboo and the exotic dance gun.
Two little fun facts about Doc Ock in this:
1) When her hair is put up, it resembles the back of an octopus head. Which is just another great little visual flair, like the octagonal glasses and lights.
2) Her tentacles are actually based on real-world technology. I tried to look it up before posting this comment, but I failed to find the right link for the technology or its name. But it
my personal fav scene is the "what's up danger" scene
I actually did not notice Peter gathering the scientists; I've seen this movie a lot and now just realize this.
every scene with mile morales and his dad was so wholesome
Ah yes. Mile Morales
The thing that made me really love the monitor joke was just that, as Miles was deciding f it, I'm just taking this with me, I literally chuckled to myself and went 'uhh, Miles, you really don't need that monitor...' So then seeing the movie poke fun of that a minute later just hit so well.
Spiderverse was one of the best films of the last few decades, it was seriously so good 🤩
"Would you give me that back, young man? IT'S PROPRIETARY." always kills me
Any scene from this movie would be a strong contender if you ask me.
I WANT THAT THREE HOUR VIDEO ESSAY
Would you ever considering doing a video on League Cinematics? Because they’re pretty good and they like to change up the animation from time to time. If video game isn’t your thing, then how about Arcane, which is their show on Netflix? Artstyle and Animation for that series is pretty good and will definitely give you a lot to talk about.
You a fan of lol?
How about league of legends
Including the K/DA music videos
8:55 also look at the back desk with an older tentacle
Man, I really like your editing. Awesome work!
The monitor line is so funny because we all know multiple people that fear technology who would think that exact thing, the whole "computer" has to be kept together.
im not sure why but the highlighter clip at 0:12 is just perfection to my eyes
A bit of a fact, Olivia Octavius' name is seen/foreshadowed in Miles' college classroom when he arrives late. a projector was playing a video that shows Olivia Octavius giving a presentation and part of her name can be seen.
this is no longer just animation, it's a masterpiece .
god damn all the animation techniques are just mind blowing!
Love the fact that the fabric can make different emotions even without a mouth. It’s great.
That god damn bagel
7:28 Yes I would like that 3 hour video essay
Nice. 450th vid. Congrats bro
I want a 3 hour video essay listing all of that out.
Cant wait for pt. 2 of Spider-Verse!
You mean Part 1… it comes out next summer & part 2 is a year later. So part 2 is 2 years from now
Should've come this year
@@littlesparrow303 nah i mean part two, I know its weird but like i consider endgame avengers pt. 4. But yeah you right.
I think the best scene in spider verse is the end of Micheals Arch where he jumps off the building. Its so amazing because of the 1.call back to the original time he tried to jump off a building and 2.because of the insane music
My fav part of this sequence is "good news kid....we don't need the monitor" *procedes to through it away with a swift rigid movement"
this is an amazing video however i did get jumpscared by an ad due to the video being a a bit quiet😅
I also really like that while they give Gwen the moment to shine and be a badass, it's not done by belittling Miles or Peter. Miles is still a rookie, and Peter was incapacitated by something he could literally never fight (the dimensional glitch).
7:27 I do. I want a 3-hour video essay.
So about that 3 hour video about the frame by frame analysis of into the spiderverse... any plans to make it?
7:28 me, I would very much like that
Edit:fixed a typo
one detail I notices while watching this is peter was holding 8 fingers directly over octavtius' head
Im not sure if it would be too short, but I think an interesting scene to look at would be the cinematic created for MultiVersus
This is my favorite movie of all time. I've watched it countless times, watched more UA-cam videos than I can remember, and I have an entire room dedicated to collectibles from the movie. Your video just got my hyped yet again! I love seeing others' observations and opinions. Thanks for the video and thanks for keeping my obsession going!
The monitor moment is hands down the best part of the film. Top tier humor that also fits the character perfectly
I feel like this is the animation geeks dream movie right here or comic geek this movie is basically for everyone
I rly need the part 2 of thisss
Amazing analysis. Sorry to bother you but I am curently working on a thesis about Into the Spiderverse from an artistic point of view. Would you happen to know if there are any books or website about it ?
BRO I WAS STILL WANTING TO WATCH that was like 5 seconds long if you made a 3 hour version I’d greatly appreciate it love your content
7:28 I NEED IT!!!
6:22 woah are these free to use, where do I find them?
So I be back for that 3 hour spiderman video
Why won't ANYONE give me the storyboard versions of this scene?! I looked everywhere and no size gives me proper answers!
I didn’t catch the octagons all over the place hinting that she is doc. Oc. That’s really cool!
Y’know, nobody really points it out, but superstrength and durability must be hell on the joints. Only chiropractors who can work on someone like Mr. Incredible are going to need to have at least his level of strength.
BRO AS SOON AS HE SAID "he sees that dreadful desktop sight" I GOT AN ADVERTISEENT THAT BEGAN WITH I WAS A LITTLE SHOCKED, LMAO PERFECT TIMING
seeing this video after across the spiderverse is so funny bc you know that 2:38 is, in fact, "the most important part" but not for the reason he said
What were Rhett and Link doing @2:53 😂
11:10 No one seem to notice the woman who simply just want to enjoy her coffee.
7:28 I do
Just realized that Octavia's hair look like a octopus head
LETS GOOOOOO a Dazz video!
Plz do more spider verse breakdowns
7:28 YES
“Who wants a 3 hour video about frame details?” ME! I WANT THAT! PLEASE
3:10
King Ping
PLEASE please do the 3 hour video essay pointing all that out 7:29. I will watch it so many times
