Palworld is not a complex, amazing game like, let's say, Baldur's Gate 3, nor is it as good as Elden Ring. But it's a game that appeals to anyone and delivers what people have wanted for so long because Gamefreak has been 'playing it safe' with Pokémon for decades. This radical premise of 'Pokémon with Guns' might seem like a joke, but it's actually real. That premise alone makes people want to buy it just for a laugh, yet they are surprised to find that Palworld has more mechanics than just 'Pokémon with Guns.' It have a good actual progression, although not as revolutionary as others, just a basic survival game, but it surprises anyone who plays it just for a laugh.

its just a really good gameplay loop the game does a good job of encouraging you to do all the things
like you cant just build your base becuase you need to level up and get resources to build the things you want
your not gonna just explore becuase your gonna want the best equipement to do it with
im constantly zipping back and forth to my bases unlocking the next tech tier building new stuff and deciding where ill go next
it has all the most addictive elements of the games its ripping

There's so much monster collecting games and yet everyone one of you loser dismiss it as a "pokemon clone"
Yet this game gets the "omg what pokemon show be shit" This game is fun but it's a game plays like ark and rust with a bunch of other shit from others games. It's a survival game at it's main core with some edgy "humor" yet you weirdo's are saying you want pokemon a game that's for meant for kids to be like this? I want gamefreak to get better also but Im not going to cheer for a game thats just stole parts the game.

I can see the other games systems and assets and Inspiration throughout this game, but they chose some really good things to piece together. • @ChichiNaka
      @ChichiNaka 4 місяці тому +1

Why would a survival game light a fire under gamefreaks asses?
I'm not sure the people who make these kinds of statements understand, Palworld is like Ark or Rust or Valheim, it does literally nothing Pokemon does other than 'have monsters you throw balls at" which Ark has been doing for a decade now.
After finishing Palworld this week, completing the 'pokedex' and all the gym leaders, theres not a single feature of this game I would have wanted to see in Pokemon Violet, the Pals are an after thought they could be replaced with robots or ghosts and the game would be exactly the same.
There's nothing Gamefreak/Pokemon can learn from this game, Ark has existed for a decade and is just like this game but deeper, If Gamefreak/The Pokemon Company could pump out an open world breath of the wild for WiiU-esque world Pokemon game every year to support the card game, anime, manga, and merchandise schedule TPC is in charge of I'm sure they would but thats clearly not the reality they're working under and a survival game coming out will never change that

I'm having way more fun with Palworld than I expected from it.
I'm honestly surprised there's not anyone pointing out the amazing QOL additions the devs added to the survival game genre through the Pals that I think really sets it apart from it's contemporaries.
The fact that almost all of the most redundant necessary task in survival can be done by Pals and it's done passively is what makes this game incredibly. I expected some half functional UI needed to tell what Pal was needed to do which jobs and would be tedious and barely functional. On the contrary every Pal has a list of passive task and if it needs to be done they do it themselves, building, gathering, farming, watering, cooking, etc almost everything can be done by Pals. I'm fond of going to my work benches queuing a list of items, the leaving the base, come back later and usually everything is finished.
Sure Palworld is openly ripping Pokémon designs for the Pals but there's honestly a good game that's being developed and it's not being openly acknowledged in any talks but it is why so people are playing and still playing despite being in early access.
Baldur's Gate 3 was in early access for 3 years can you imagine what Palworld could be 3 years from now if they maintain support as suggested from their current roadmap?

I think that the particular way Palworld Frankenstines different genres/games together is actually quite brilliant. I wouldn't say it just jumbles them together. It's more like a well-seasoned sukiyaki dish. It's very intuitive with its approach, and all of its mechanics blend seamlessly with each other. I do agree that certain parts of it felt soulless, however, and the jankiness is undeniable... mostly with the character AI and building mechanics.

It even has some serious QoL changes that are themselves so intuitive, that you don't notice how much they make life easier.
All storage in a base being linked and when building/crafting automatically pulling resources from ANYWHERE within the base radius? When you consciously notice that, you start to question why no other survival game has done it before.
Personally my biggest gripes are the AI pathfinding and the building, yeah.
There's some real fucky rules for foundations. You can't attach flat "roof" tiles to the side of foundations. You can't attach stairs from the bottom. What can and can't clip into each other seems inconsistent. There's a distance in which everything snaps together.
Half of the pathing problems stem from me being unable to properly paper over the topography with structures.
And I guess having a task black/whitelist for pals assigned to a base. Would love it if my lv2 miner, lvl1 harvester didn't stop mining just to help the level 2-3 harvesters with their dedicated job.

I think it's an evolution of how popular fan games and mods have exploded since 2015 like several popular games of the last 9 years have had some form of obvious inspiration of past gaming whether it's undertale, or rivals of aether and it's workshop, or valorant of all things. I think the gaming industry for a while has been moving to familiarity being more popular than originality and it's been moving that way since at least the retro graphic renaissance seems to have been slowing down from 2018 to my recollection. also this is my first video of yours hope I didn't start a flame war or comment too much, great video btw!

I definitely think the game teeters the line in some aspects for sure, like the new area font and ding. I don't play any Nintendo stuff but can appreciate it. I'm also lukewarm on survival games but I have loved watching a group of content creators play. I can appreciate this game doing what it does, at the end of the day, "stolen" elements or not, Nintendo didn't do it so why not appreciate Palworld giving us something kinda strange? I definitely would like to see the devs clean it up and change it up enough where they differentiate themselves and wow us.

The game actually has a very interesting depth and progression in the base and leveling mechanics. The exploration is actually top notch with collectables that actually matter across a variety of biomes in an absolutely huge map. The combat is challenging and has a unique learning curve that takes skill. I can't wait to see how Palworld evolves.

I bought it yesterday it have been excited for this game since I first seen rumors of this years ago. I’m a fan of Ark, Pokemon, breath of the wild so this is something that I will enjoy story or not because of what it has for it self as well as “taking from other games” breeding is fun, interacting with pals is fun, I just like this game and really want other people to play it because there’s more fun to be had with the more casual rout this game takes in terms of gameplay so it can be something most anyone can try and see if it “scratches the itch”

No chance. It's nothing like a Pokemon game. You can catch creatures but they are not fleshed out enough to do that with. Every attack in the game is an attack pain and simple. It's very vanilla combat compared to Pokemon. Honestly I'd you're just playing it because you think it's a new Pokemon game you probably won't enjoy it. The game play loop is more like Ark mixed with Valheim. Then just a dash of Pokemon.

Palworld seems like just enough of whats familiar while adding a new spin to the genre. And its clearly resonating with people.
I don't do early access games. But I'm very intrigued with this one and I hope the developers continue to flesh this one out and build on what looks like a solid foundation. I think there are a lot of exciting things they can do with this. With the right support it could easily be a massive hit.

It’s the soul of Pokémon in a survival crafting body.

  • @PenitusVox
    @PenitusVox 4 місяці тому +1

Really, my biggest "complaint" with the game is that all the discussion about the game was so focused on "Pokemon with guns" that the developers frontloaded that stuff in the tech tree. It doesn't make sense that you can build a submachine gun for your Pal while you're still figuring out how to make spears like a caveman. Not only that but actually crafting guns for your player character is way more difficult than making them for your Pals. It's weird and I hope it gets reordered down the line. I kinda doubt it will, though, since people would probably complain.

It serves its purpose I suppose. I put a bit more time it again today. I think that it has potential. It needs a lot of polish and it needs to feel more dense. Especially in the beginning. I felt like I had to really waste a tone of time trying to find the Pals that I needed for specific objectives. If those things get added onto/fixed, it would be a lot better. Also, it needs story for sure. Without a story to drive me, I'll be gone really quick. I am looking forward to seeing what happens as they come out with patches. It shines the most when you play with friends. Good luck to them!

I would say at a minimum, add 1 new super and 1 new aspect per class to mix up core stasis gameplay with maybe 2 - 4 new fragments. Then add another exotic per class and add this frost armour and maybe another effect called "Chill" that maybe visually covers them in small ice lumps and it lowers their damage Output and increases damage to them by a certain amount.

It's an under-saturated genre and as a lifelong Pokemon player, I think Game Freak hasn't yet done enough to evolve the series (no pun intended), so it's the perfect time for other companies to give it a shot. Competition among multiple creature-collecting series would be a good thing

They already got my money, and even if they do absolutely nothing else with this game, it’s good enough that I will play for a month or two, and I consider that worth the money I paid for it. I love the game as is, so any additions to it will be icing on the cake. I do not care whatsoever that it’s ripping from all these other games.
But I do really hope they keep adding to the game. Even if it takes years and it’s still early access, that doesn’t mean it’s abandoned. BeamNG has been early access for so long, I don’t even know if it still is or not, but that game came out in 2015 and was still early access as of a few months ago but to me has felt like a complete game for years that’s getting regular updates. I hope that’s the case for Palworld, I hope it gets updated regularly and I hope Nintendo doesn’t slam the door on them. I LOVE this game, it completely ripped my attention away from Cyberpunk 2077 and my meta quest 3. And btw this is coming from a diehard Nintendo fanboy who has played most pokemon and Zelda games, and a hater of survival and crafting games with the exception of like 2 or 3 games. This is one of them. But whether I play this game for a month or two, or for years, depends on if they follow through on adding a fleshed out story, and if they update on technology, crafting, and battle mechanics. Wouldn’t even mind paid DLC, take my money. Just give me more game. Lol
