How Palworld DESTROYED Pokémon OVERNIGHT (Palworld Vs. Pokémon)

- Palworld is one of the most POPULAR games of the year. It's become VERY popular and is on track to outsell Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. With such popularity, there have been many claims that Palworld plagiarizes Pokémon and it is nothing more than a Pokémon ripoff.
I wanted to see for myself if any of these claims were true. So not only did I play Palworld, but I also went back to Pokémon Scarlet And Violet. Pokémon Scarlet is a game that is BEYOND BROKEN and it has MANY issues. However, since it's the most recent Pokémon game and the fact both games are open world made it the perfect game to go up against Palworld.
Which game is better? Is Palworld JUST a Pokémon ripoff? And will Palworld stay relevant? Palworld VS. Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.
Who's your favorite Pal? Mine is Chillet! ❄️
Chillet is the only Pal I know, because of this comment
Depresso. Reminds me of Larry from Scarlet and Violet. The animations won my heart and I want a plushie!
Prob wixen, though my fav one back in pokemon was Braixen though the anime helped me love braixen more then i needed it to. The evolution to delphox ruined it though.
The moss Panda
Close between Mossanda and Chillet. Jetragon is great as well the energy wings and sleek body is great.
One time I saw a stupid comment saying that people "expected too much" from Pokemon SV like it's not a triple A game that's beimg sold for 60 FREAKIN DOLLARS. I swear I lost braincells when I saw that.
It's a freaking triple A, 60 dollars game, OF COURSE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS 💀
Too much? If people "expect too much" for a game for "Everyone", that's like stating the game is only for children, which is like a backhanded insult to the game.
@@Goomba1309 It's literally the same price as BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and several other great games with every inch of heart and soul poured into them. We don't expect a masterpiece, but at least a fun and FUNCTIONAL experience!
@@MatthewCenance Exactly! Kirby and Mario are games for everyone as well, but they are constantly changing and innovating.
Not only is it a triple A game, its also a game being made by the highest grossing franchise.
Honestly I'm loving how Pal World managed to piss off not only Pokemon fanboys but PlayStation fanboys, AAA developers, and once again expose idiotic gaming journalism.
As a playstation user (not "fanboy", thankyouverymuch) I'm only upset because we won't get Palworld - same deal as when we couldn't get Starfield. I don't have enough money for multiple consoles, and my computer is literally "old faithful" that can barely work on House Flipper without locking up, so I feel kind of sad for not being able to get awesome stuf that I like. Can you blame me?
Honestly the fact that this supposed "Pokémon ripoff" is more high quality than Pokémon itself (at least most of the modern games) is just depressing...
Except for the 3ds ones
@@3dsfan2002 Yeah, those were good shit tbh. It's more so the Switch ones that leave a lot to be desired (Legends Arceus notwithstanding)
It's really low quality. Y'all just Pepsi vs cocacola. You still pokemon fans hyping a buggy mess.
It just means that Pokémon is the palworld ripoff, duh.
@@AsecasJaviWell yeah, it's in early access. We're literally playing a game that hasn't been finished and released yet. And in the few weeks it's been playable many issues have been fixed and the devs are still working on the remaining issues.
I got banned from several Pokemon discord servers just because i said i supported Palworld. Being called a traitor, a fake fan, and even those who threatened to burn all my Pokemon merch. Shows how jealous, pathetic, and childish the Pokemon fandom truly is.
Combine that with the fact that Pokémon fanboys outright sent death threats to the devs of Palworld, and istg the Pokémon fandom almost makes even the most toxic part of the Sonic fanbase look sane by comparison
Damn I feel so sorry for you. Pokémon fanboys are just nothing more than psychopathic lunatics
It doesn’t always mean jealousy I hate Palworld cause if I say I like Pokémon I’m a consumer and don’t have any brain cells, ever since that game came out I can’t publicly say I like Pokémon or I’m just wrong I guess
@@shaunavant532 To be fair, it's not a matter of what one likes more that's the problem. It's one thing if you simply like Pokémon more than Palworld. More power to you, it's your opinion, peace out. But it's a completely different story to outright call someone a traitor, a fake fan, and outright threaten to burn someone's Pokémon merch, like what happened to OP, all because they said they supported Palworld. Ergo, for having an opinion.
And that, I think we can both agree, is just as pathetic as someone calling you a consumer with no braincells just because you like Pokémon more than Palworld
I still like Pokemon as well. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didn't when I clearly have Pokemon as my profile. Lol. But what I don't like is the Pokemon company taking advantage of their loyal fan base by putting in the bare minimum effort to maximize profits. BDSP were prime examples of this, and I just want their main games and mobile titles to feel more enjoyable overall. The talent and passion is there, it's just that they refuse to use it nowadays. Or if they do, it's usually in the form of paying more to get the best experience.
People say that palworld is just pokemon with guns
but i would like to say that palworld its just ark survival evolved with pokemon
Verdict: Pal World has a lot more to it than just a "Pokemon ripoff".
I would even argue it's more ARK ripoff than it is Pokemon ripoff. It might take pokemon's art direction but the gameplay is all but copypasted ARK: Survival Evolved. But who cares when they do it well and don't actually infringe on anything!
@@Arbaaltheundefeated This! Palworld isn't really the same genre as Pokemon. It's waaaaayyyy more of an Ark clone.
Palworld, by taking inspiration from every popular game you can think of, has created the ultimate popular game. Gotta give them credit honestly, it’s better than the shit Pokémon churns out.
I stopped playing Pokémon after GameFreak announced the National Dex cut for the Switch games because what do you mean they were trying to encourage a 100% dex in the 3DS games (Especially with ORAS which actually made catching Pokémon intuitive) only to make them completely useless in the next system.
When was the last time you heard "Gotta Catch 'em all?" They knew exactly what they were doing when they stopped using that phrase for marketing.
The National Dex cut first appear in Pokèmon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokèmon Let's Go Eevee.
@@Zyart they actually used this as recent as the Gen 7 trailers in the beginning of each one
@@wemelkuan Exactly. Which is the last time we actually could catch them all.
Can't wait to see Palworld make other monster collection games more popular. Siralim, Monster Crown, Cassette Beasts, Monster Sanctuary, and so on, will hopefully become more in the limelight after the success of Palworld.
Fingers crossed. People who are dissatisfied with Pokémon have SO many options now compared to the 2000s! They have no excuse to believe that there are no monster taming games out there other than Pokémon. For anyone reading this comment, please check out Gym Leader Ed for some suggestions and information about the genre.
Same!!
I like your pfp :)
Maybe, but I'm hoping for more monster tamer games that stray further from the pokemon formula. What palworld really does right is it expanding the range of what the creatures do and real-time combat. A lot of those other games seem to cater to the pokemon fans dissatisfied with the jump to 3d and not the fans that are tired of the core formula. The most recent game to scratch that itch was UKMR, but I just really didn't care for the ultraman ip, and found myself mostly wishing they just stuck with the monster rancher roster.
Cassette beasts is awesome it’s damn near close to digimon and I love it.
I'll give my opinions on each point of the video:
GRAPHICS:
I mean... I agree here, SV looks like a GameCube game, but even that's an insult considering Luigi's Mansion exists.
But I hate how everyone ignores the Pokémon and Human models. They're the most detailed to date, and actually look good. Steel types like Scizor or Magnezone actually reflect light, Lucario looks fluffy, and Seviper got them smooth scales. Just to name a few. And even some Pokémon with models got tweaked to look better like the Kanto Starters. (Even fixed prior complaints by giving Typhlosion it's flames back, and making Blastoise use it's cannons with Hydro Pump).
I agree here, but a point has to be made for the model quality.
SOUND DEPARTMENT:
No comments, it's a fair comparison and no biases here.
GAMEPLAY:
Here's where the comparisons HAVE to stop. Pokémon is an RPG, Palworld is a survival game. It's like comparing Zelda and Mario just because they're both Nintendo franchises.
But I also wanna stand a bit defending the gameplay in SV. I believe that the level scaling, though could've worked, wasn't needed. It gives everyone a personalized difficulty experience, because you probably wandered into Medali after starting and you get swept effortlessly by Larry. I'm not saying level scaling wasn't needed, but when a game doesn't have it, you can actually make it more challenging by trying to take out stronger bosses with underleveled Pokémon.
STORY:
No comments, I completely agree here.
CONTENT:
Haven't touched Palworld much so I won't talk about it here. But here I need to remind you that DLCs are the third editions (your emeralds, platinums, crystals, usums) with a new coat o' paint. So Pokémon always had content issues since the very beginning, as everything praised by the fans comes from the primitive DLCs that are selling you the same game a year later but with a new legendary on the cover. I'll give Pokémon this, it's always a blast with friends, but modern games haven't been too kind to singleplayers because the postgames focus more on competitive team building and shiny hunting nowadays. So I understand the frustrations some people have with content.
Another thing I hate people ignore when it comes to the graphics comparisons is the amount of default and premade Unreal Engine assets in Palworld.
It's quite literally just like when people would see those tech demos of Mario running across a photorealistic field yelling Nintendo to hire this man.
Of course, this doesn't excuse Pokemon looking way worse than it should for a big budget game, but Palworld isn't exactly a game I would use for comparison.
Legends has a lot of what palworld copied but the gameplay is different anyway. Also they could just be more similar, the problem is the designs.
I don't get why people are still making comparisons between the games. It's the designs, change em that's all.
@@LassikkoPal design look better cause they are rip-offs. Humans look like nothing, the world is the same.
@@AsecasJavi The designs of Palworld are the only reason the comparisons happen. And the whole reason it even got attention in the first place. It's just so blatantly obvious in designs like Fenglope (Cobalion), Verdash (Cinderace) or Bolt Mane (Luxray).
If TPC ever took legal action, I believe it would be to force Pocket Pair to redesign the pals that look the most like ripoffs.
@@genarftheunfuni5227 well, those are the only things I think palworld should worry about. It's the creative part. The rest is unnecessary. We can have more monster catching games.
They shouldn't redesign em and call it a day tho, they've made bank while using the copied designs, they've made a name using em etc
1:28 This sandwich animation is cinema. It belongs in a movie theater
BTW palworld does have infinite playability cause they plan to release the Dev tool kit for modders, and we all know the modding community is absolutely bonkers
It's incredible how a game that his considered a Pokemon clone has better graphics and more effort than an actual Pokemon game
I mean, there's basically a better looking analog to pretty much each of the Pokémon games of this generation on the Switch itself.
@@lnsflare1 ...just ask Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Dragon Warrior Monster the Dark Prince, just to name two.
@@alarkhar Or Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and World of Final Fantasy Maxima, which are both analogous to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, in that they are both upgraded ports of previous generation handheld monster collecting RPGs.
@@lnsflare1 Those too.
3ds era Pokémon was the underrated age, DS era is the overrated/overpriced age and switch era is the dark age, in your face fanbase
You really showed them.
Ye man you really showed me that palworld corrupts people to laugh in others face who don't care for what you like, I can't belive I didn't see it sooner
I ain’t complaining here I’ve been a fan since I was 7(2010) and even I can see the decline, god I hope Pokémon learns from this and palworld can improve and be its own thing as well on top of still being successful
As far as I'm concerned Gen 3 was the last good one that wasn't a remake of an even older one.
@@gmk9321 I started with the release of Red. Seeing the decline of this series over time to the absolute rock bottom they hit with Scarlet, only for them to sell so many copies, just screams volumes about the gaming industry as a whole, and I can only really put my faith into indie games like Palworld to actually make good games anymore.
The fact that the highest grossing media franchise of all-time is now getting underpraised by a supposed "clone" is both hilarious and sad at the same time. It always proves that continuing to lack care for your games is going to lose your core fans.
Release the game when it's actually ready instead of choosing to be less credible and unprofessional for cheap profit!
13:36 this was one of the better stories. Some people actually cried. I felt so relief we helped save his Pokémon no his best friend.😢😊 stories like this make things worthwhile
Absolutely
I think Palworld being inspiring by pokemon is actually great because it sort of make it similar to Yo Kai Watch or Digimon in terms of being a rival towards pokemon, except palworld is becoming so popular that it hopefully pushes Nintendo and gamefrEAk to do better with pokemon
If you IGNORE Pokémon Scarlet, it's AMAZING!
Considering that Pokemon Co. was able to sell 20 million copies of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl by doing a bare minimum effort copy-paste job I'm not seeing them change their ways anytime soon. The fans are too invested into the series that they'll buy the next game regardless out of FOMO. These guys really know how to win them over just by hype inducing marketing tactics alone.
@@MrJum987 BDSP sold 15 million but that’s still a lot and you still have a point
Yes, It is a copy, but it has much higher quality than almost any of the crap games they have released from Pokemon
Yeah at least this one clearly shows that they give a damn and are working on it to make it bigger and better. This game has my support cuz Pokemon clearly doesnt care enough anymore until something wakes them up and i hope its this game.
Pokemon fanboys are officially the next Sonic the Hedgehog fandom. It's hilarious you're labeled a traitor, or fake fan because Palworld is objectively better than any modern Pokemon game, but can handle their precious PS2 looking game with N64 textures getting any sort of criticism because as the mantra always says, "if you ignore the game, than it's amazing!" Gee, I'll keep ignoring the game, and play masterpieces like Super Mario RPG and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope!
Excellent video, my friend! I hope Palworld can hit the Switch, so I can try this out for myself and see what I've been missing out on. At least with Palworld, I won't get physically ill and still call the game 10/10 like I would if I played Scarlet & Violet!
HAHAHA I LOVE the fanboy excuses. I'm glad I ignored Pokémon after I beat it, and played Sparks Of Hope instead. Pokémon Violet is about as enjoyable as lean.
Not sure if Palworld will hit the Switch, but it would be great if it does.
@@Demeech Be proud to be a traitor, my friend! Lean might be more enjoyable than playing Pokemon Violet, at least you'll feel great and have the best sleep of your eternal life.
I would love it if Nintendo kicked Game Freak to the curve, had the Palworld developers take over. Out with the old, in with the new and better.
Ironically, most Pokémon fanboys hated games such as Redfall, Madden 24, Modern Warfare III, and Gollum for the same reasons they love Scarlet and Violet. All of those games are objectively worse than Switch Pokémon, but why do they give Pokémon a pass for the same things that all of those games are guilty of? Speaking of Redfall, will you ever make a video covering it and similar live-service games like Suicide Squad?@@Demeech
Nah. Pokémon fanboys defend the franchise. Sonic fans don't even like Sonic games.
"Objectively better" It's barely in the same genre, and Palworld will have closed down by the time the next mainline Pokemon game comes out and sells another 20 million.
Agreed that Sparks of Hope is wonderful, however. Mario RPG did NOT hold up, though.
Most of people who think Palworld is a Pokemon ripoff clearly have not seen the mascot horror genre.
Ripoff doesn’t always mean bad. See Terraria for example
That is true, but that is not the point that they were trying to make. A majority of the mascot horror games especially new ones like Poppy Playtime, Hello Neighbour, and Garten of Banban just want the same fame and success as FNAF as opposed to making a unique horror experience. The games themselves are barebones and in the case of Hello Neighbour, just unfun/overly frustrating to play. They only got popular due to iPad Kids and Game Theory milking them to death.@@A_Ali173
@@A_Ali173 And some mascot horror games are actually decent to pretty good. Bendy and the Ink Machine, Baldi's Basics, Tattletail, and I heard that Poppy Playtime got better. Mascot horror was actually sprouted from Five Nights at Freddy's. If FNAF didn't exist, the others would not have been popular. However, Hello Neighbor and Garten of Banban aren't that good.
Apparently Nintendo / The Pokémon Company is trying to sue Pocketpair for infringing on some patents. What do you think of this case?
Palworld does have adventure logs through out the map that gives you glimpses into the background of the island and the inhabitants
But this game is a 3RD person shooter survival games and Pokémon is a Turn based JRPG. The only similarity is that it has monsters catching in it. I still prefer Pokémon because I'm just not into survival games. I enjoyed S/V but I won't ignore that the games VERY flawed, but I still enjoyed it for the most part.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And when it comes to making games like this that're like ongoing franchises, I wish we could get away with reskinning existing games. Super Mario Bros. 2 for example could NEVER be made today.
I'm betting the Pokémon Fanboys that are watching this video are extremely pissed off and rage quitting in a heartbeat! 😆
They deserve it, they really thought the 3ds era was bad, yeah right😒
@@3dsfan2002 Since when did they think the 3ds era was bad? (Curious question BTW)
As a pokemon fan, this video didn't really make mad; it's really fair criticism of a franchise that should have hit Palworld's level of quality already. I'm more mad at TPC than anything, if they would only release good games Like legends arcoos instead of more cheap cash grabs like BDSP and SV. Yes, I'm admitting this even though I am a pokemon fanboy, cancel me or whatever I don't care.
@@M64brosto answer your question, some fanboys comepletely ignore USUM's existence, and just focus on the OG and X and Y
@@Call_Me_Cuda totally understandable and thank you as well
Look I have to give you props. Glad you did your research. I was the one who said "why compare this to Pokémon because they are 7% alike at most and we have to stop this narrative." I just want people to stop the comparison to let it shine is all. Also, those Kotaku articles aren't helping. The game is good and it just keeps getting better. Thanks for this Demeech and I apologize if I personally came off with my comment as negative to you in any way. Keep doin you!
Aye, it's all good man! It's harder to illustrate my thoughts in a community post than in a video.
I LOVE Palworld and I want it to get the credit it deserves.
The best and worst part of Palworld's story is that it does have lore and a deep story. You just have to find every collectable diary in order to see it and that is easier said than done.
Palworld has potential. The devs already have better communication to the players and celebrated their success.
I hope Palworld can fix the bugs and expand. Xbox is helping them out which is promising. I really hope this doesn't stay in early access forever like their previous games.
I think TheRogueRenegade said it best in his 35 minute video. Pokemon fans are whining about Palworld like they did YoKai Watch and Digimon. All just to argue. I'm autistic and my very first special interest was Pokémon, a special interests a majority of the time is an interest an Autistic person will never let go of. So I LOVE Pokémon and always will, but I also LOVE Plaworld. Again, I agree with TheRogueRenegade's Palworld topic video he just released that Gamefreak just needs to optimize the game and up the graphics a little bit and pick an engine Sw/Sh, let's go, legends access, and S/V are 4 different engines as well as Gamefreak needs to hire more developers so they can polish the game. The one thing I'd add to his statement is the Pokémon Company should be paying Gamefreak more or at least funding them more to make better games. Games like BotW, TotK, Xenoblade Chronicals 2 &3 that are more massive than S/V are better optimized and take full advantage of the switch. Also it's on a Nintendo console so don't expect Palworld graphics. Turn based is what makes Pokémon well Pokémon, everything outside battles and catching mechanics needs optimizing and maybe even a retail. But Gamefreak needs the man power so hopefully the Pokémon Company will finally look at Gamefreak and fund them more, they aren't then hopefully fund them. And pick on engine to run on to optimize and improve upon and stop pumping new gens out every 2 or 3 years. I'm just tired of Pokémon fans whining and Palworld fans thinking they are superior when the games are completely different gameplay wise. It's annoying to see grown adults fighting like little kids
I would have actually enjoyed having a comparison with SW/SH since the issues that the 2 games have aren't the same (but they're about equally as bad).
I dunno I just don't like comparing Palworld to it much since they are part of different genres, and the plagiarism stuff has already been discussed A LOT on youtube, to the point where I got really sick of it.
(also I'm still waiting for the M&R SOH review, it's a bit disappointing to see it being postponed for over a year)
Pokemon & Palworld are not in the same genre wtf lol
The "Ignore the flaws and its a great game" is toddler logic, that like saying "Ignore the murders and he is amazing human". Man I think they are putting some kind of stupid pill in pokemon switch titles, this was no where near as much of a problem till dexit.
Absolutely! Many will clump Gens 6-7 with the Switch games as the point where "Pokémon got bad".
Pokémon X & Y were a bit underwhelming, but nothing truly awful. Just needed less Kanto pandering and more development in terms of lore.
Pokémon Sun & Moon were GREAT. A very refreshing take on the Pokémon formula and they don't get the credit they deserve. I even think Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee were good for what they aimed to do.
It got bad with Pokémon Sword & Shield and EVEN WORSE with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. "If you ignore the game, it's AMAZING" is the common excuse for Scarlet & Violet.
Maybe if I DON'T PLAY IT it's AMAZING!
@@Demeech nah XY were the Downward trend SM slowed the spiral but USUM sent it to insane levels LGEP were competent but the Mobile Bullshit hampered the game horrifically while starting the neutering process of the RPG mechanics, SWSH Neutered the RPG aspect that honestly was peak in XY with "dexit, attack missing, ability loss" removals. The story of Gen 8 was AWFUL.
Legends was okay at best but still worse than palworld and continued the RPG Neutering process. By SV the Meta is a mess broken moves everywhere their counters removed and lost in gen 7 still, We have a major performance and bugs showing up Deletion of Game saves are still a thing and its worse with the cloud saves being disabled.
Pokemon is in the Undead state the Simpsons are in right now.
@Demeech it is realy saf that Despite that, pokemon game fans let their Wallets speak louder than their mouth. With all the criticism and demand for Game Freak to make a better Pokemon game, they still bought the games to the point that ScarVio became their new best selling iteration of all time. They missed the chance of making a statement by not buying the clear trash game. Instead they made it clear that the Pokemon community are no different to junkies who can't live without their "pokemon drug" fix regardless of quality. Probably explains why they reacted to the Palworld situation pretty much like how an addict reacts to the idea of rehab. It is now clear, the pokemon community gets the pokemon game exactly how they DESERVED IT.
you cannot ignore the murders he is a bad human, you cannot ignore the flaws a game has because THEY ARE PART OF THE GAME, ignoring the flaws is ignoring the game itself, you cannot ignore the problems a game has, you cannot ignore problems overall, the problems need to be dealt with
Pokémon is $60 + 30 more for the DLC
Pal world was $30 but now it’s $27 😊 which seems better to you
Im so tired of hearing palworld every second that i associate palworld with trolls
And yet I’ve seen Nintendo fanatics treating Nintendo like they’re the only ones who can save the gaming industry. Disturbing.
There is story in palworld that you can find from talking to NPCs, journal entries and more. If you go out of the way to find it
yea, watched a video to
Excellent video. Honestly...... I'm surprised Pokémon even won the Music and Sound Design category. "Engraved in Myth," "Uninvited," and the boss theme are pure dopamine, and I love how the Pals have more animal-like sounds than most Pokémon do. I mean, Palworld still has PLENTY of issues (including 3 small regions where I can't go because i clip through the ground), but it's not even close. I want Pokémon to succeed, but it feels like they've just stopped trying at this point. It's not much of a fight when Pokémon doesn't put forth effort to fight back.
That being said, I don't think Palworld is a direct competitor for Pokémon. Pokémon isn't getting replaced, obviously, and I don't think Palworld will have any effect at all on the next game's sales. They're not even the same genre, since Palworld is a full-on survival game instead of a creature collector RPG.
Is it a ripoff?
Yes.
Is it better than Gamefreak?
Yes.
Eh...that about checks out😏
It's only a "rip off" where some of the Pals strongly resemble some Pokemon (or combinations of Pokemons), but that's it. Game play is totally different.
It’s not a ripoff and it’s a billion times better than anything game freak has shat out since SWSH
I cant stand it when people call similar games rip offs or clones especially when they are obviously better
You could never beat me at Garfield Kart - Furious Racing
I play Palworld on a day 1 steam deck and it runs beautifully on my settings.
i love the response you gave to "if you ignore its problems, its a good game" which is literally something i have heard from dozens of people regarding the new pokemon
"if i have to ignore its problems, why not just ignore the whole thing?" is a brilliant comeback
You ONLY hear that about Pokémon. That's the logic Pokémon Fanboys go by. "If you IGNORE the game, it's AMAZING!"
ignoring the problems has is ignoring the whole game itself because the problems are part of the game, stop being biased and nostalgia blinded towards pokemon and see it for what it is now, a trash game
You should play yo-Kai Watch
And other "Pokemon clones“
yokai watch is goated
Alright I guess we can all agree on this now, every Pokémon game is now trash. Every Pokémon game from Pokémon red and blue to Pokémon scarlet and violet should be thrown in the garbage to never be played again.
I can't believe i actually thought pokemon crystal, pokemon white 2, and pokemon leafgreen were actually good games i owned. Thanks for telling me the truth, i shall burn all of them right away.
@@jamespaul9598don’t do that
We’re talking about the CURRENT state of pokemon, not the franchise as a whole
I agree, ever since Mega Evolutions along with Gigantamax and other gimmicks came to existence, I parted ways with Pokèmon despite liking Pokèmon.
@@cliffordkun2844 especially since they keep on throwing those gimmicks in the trash within the next game
Notably, Pepsi and its _many_ lemon lime flavors over the years (Starry, Sierra Mist, Lemon Lime Twist) are imitations of Sprite, but Sprite wasn't original to Coke, but a copy of 7up. Pepsi is a copy of Coke. Coke has had several different copies of Pepsi's Mountain Dew (Mello Yello, Surge, Vault).
You could look at many Pokemon and see quite blatantly where they got their inspirations from; Dragon Quest, generic RPG monster encounter tropes like an early game rodent, very similar design language to Lycanroc and Monster Rancher's _Tiger_ .
It is because Pokemon ALWAYS marketed for kids but not adults. Come on GameFreak, the kids who love Pokemon since the 1st Generation (Red/Blue/Green/Yellow) are grown-ups already! Kids don't have demands and requirements, but adults have!
I’m hoping this makes Pokémon company wake up and start putting some actual effort in.
I'm hoping so too man
I’m hoping too, I want to use all of my Pokémon
If only that was their response after all...
I don’t think Pal World will topple Pokémon, as it’s not on Nintendo consoles. If it were to be on the Nintendo Switch, then I might see a problem with competition with both games on the same console. But as of right now, it’s on Xbox and PC.
I might not get to it for a while due to brand loyalty, but Pal World does look interesting.
By no means am I excusing the Pokémon Company’s rushed products.
Interesting comparison.
I think a more interesting comparison would have been Palworld vs Legends Arceus, since that's the game Palworld is most like. I recall Demeech saying he actually liked PLA, so maybe the competition would have been closer too.
I think one more example would be good for why pokemon fans are angry against palworld. A hat in time. It was a clone to mario games, but not many people were angry about the game as far as I remember, and i think the reason is that Mario and the Hat both were doing very good at the time(I think Mario odyssey was on when AHIT came out?)
You can call it a ripoff all day long, but if the ripoff is better than the original, than there is something wrong with the original ...
There is lore and story in palworld in the form of finding Journals. Like in a souls game you have to find it.
I enjoyed both Pokemon Scarlet and Palworld
Palworld is too different of a genre to compare. I’ve read through some comments, and they make some fair points. Rip off is a very difficult word to use around this, because it turns Pokémon to a different genre. Which is why you can’t expect a Pokémon fan to enjoy Palworld and you can’t expect a Palworld fan to enjoy Pokémon. I think survival games are alright but there’s games like LEGO Fortnite I’ve played and then I ended up quitting because the progress was too slow. If I have the time then I full send it but I’ve only done that with Minecraft and Terraria
I'm just going to say it, Halo: Combat Evolved's levels look waaaay more visually appealing than Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's levels, and that game was released in 2001...
I love Pokémon Scarlet and I still play it every night before bed. Def leaves a lot to be desired but it’s an overall good time !
Should've mentioned Engraved in Myth. Such a legendary banger.
Everybody talkin bout graphics when Pokémon has forever been a NINTENDO EXCLUSIVE palworld is a Microsoft and everyone knows the difference in graphic quality between the two companies
I believe there is bias. You didn't bring up the designs of the pokemon/pals itself! So I'll be filling that in. (As an OC creator who has created fakemon.)
First!! Pokemon.
Yeah yeah I know what y'all are gonna say some have bad designs bla bla bla but c'mon that isn't true for all mons. Take eevee and its evolutions for example! They're prime examples of great yet simple designs. Pikachu is also a really good design. Ditto may be overly simple and goes "OC do not steal!" and so does Mew, but those designs actually work!!
Palworld on the other hand MAY have good designs, but are we forgetting the mons that look similar to actual pokemon? (I don't see Direwolf being a copycat of Lycanrock at all.) Are we ignoring the eevee looking pal? VERDASH??
In conclusion, Pokemon has better designs, even with the human characters.
You've also been HARSH ON POKEMON AND NOT WITH PALWORLD. If that doesn't scream bias then I don't know what will.
And graphics are like that because they're SUPPOSED TO BE STYLIZED. It's a game based on the ANIME as far as I'm aware. And no, don't say anything about that, but I'm gonna say I know that the gen 1 games came before the anime most likely, but chill.
But the game came out before the anime? And the first 3 gens was on the Gameboy?
Considering getting it. However, I'd still go back to Scarlet every now and then. It's a decent game, much more enjoyable for me than Sword was. Sure, it was fell face first out of the gate, but I haven't ran into much of the bugs and performance issues, only some framerate slowdown, even during a couple cutscenes. Still, I'd say it has nothing on Legends Arceus. The only things holding Arceus back from being in an entirely different league from Scarlet is the open areas not all being one massive area and a lack of multiplayer. I mean, why did they have to remove the danger factor from Scarlet and Violet?
I'm guessing it's because mainline games can't have pokemon attacking trainers. That's honestly my favorite feature of Legends. (and how you don't even need to get out of mons to catch other mons if you know what you're doing) It also makes me wonder if there are any pals that attack you on sight, even if you didn't provoke them. Oh, and a minor fav feature of mine is the shiny jingle in the overworld. It makes shiny hunting kind of enjoyable, even for someone who's not heavily into it. This got removed in Scarlet and Violet as well and I hate that it did. Hear jingle, search frantically for the pokemon who's not like the other ones.
Pokémon should’ve been more than what we paid for and I can sadly say it wasn’t worth it $60 for a game that’s not even completely finished and we’re paying more for stuff that should’ve been on it 🤬
Palworld is only really a Pokemon ripoff for its rather derivative designs for its monsters like the Goodra Meganium thing and white Salazzle as the game itself honestly plays nothing like Pokemon
i think the Pokémon fandom has now taken the place of the Sonic fandom as the new most annoying one. (im a Sonic fan myself, the place has gotten a lot better)
The fact that an alleged knock-off fares better than an official game really says a lot, doesn't it.
Palworld for the fucking win bro.
Before I heard that Sword and Shield would be Scarlet and Violet's next opponent, I thought that it would be something like Redfall or The Day Before. Hyped up by both their respective fandoms, but they were complete jokes/failures when they launched.
I love both, but I see what you mean.
I'm planning on getting Palworld just to send a message to Pokemon Company that I'm not shilling for there garbage, and they need to drastically improve there games and increase development time. I would argue otherwise about Scarlet and Violet's story though, since most of it feels like footnotes from a writers room. Neoma is a flat character with no real character arc or motivations at all, the Starfall plot has holes large enough to fly a Airbus A380 through and Penny's motivations make no sense at all, and Arvin's story is touching but flawed in exaction. None of these story lines really tie into each-other at all for the final part (besides Arvin's) and the time machine (SPOILERS) at the end has no real reason to exist. It's like the professor sat down and watched Terminator/Jurassic Park (depends on which game your are playing) and went like "Huh... That's a good idea!!" and got themselves killed messing around with time travel. The DLCs stories don't fair that much better having characters and plots with the constancy of Swiss cheese.
Okay they probably won't listen hit them at the bottom line there pockets
If Pokémon doesn’t get their shit together soon enough, I’ll just pirate the Black and White remakes lmao. I can’t keep dropping a solid 60$ every year just for Nintendo to keep pumping out slop.
Unpopular opinion i don't want pokemon to be palworld
I think the DLC over fixing the game could be explained as a mandate from Nintendo. With Sword and Sheild they made a cart that had the DLC on it that they wanted by the holiday after it was done. I have a feeling they where given a time frame to get that done for the rerelease and as is it seems like they where a bot late as they had to make where you have to download the second part of the DLC when it was avalable.
Considering Electabuzz isn't even in Gen 9's base game it kind of isn't a contest. Also slightly out of order? Tulip's badge was accidentally the second one I got. Gen 9's base game is piss easy. I caught a Houndoom in the cave right before the gym and swapped it in as needed to eat hits and heal my Tinkatuff.
One point that makes SV instantly lose against SwSh is SwSh doesn't Shiny Lock its LEGACY Legands in the respective DLC.
Ye, that's a thing in the SV DLC. They arbitrarily decided to shiny lock ALL of its available Legacy Legendaries. Screw this, I'm going back to Palworld and even Gen 2 Pokemon.
Personally for me, Pokemon S/V doesn't even deserve the storyline point, at all. Palworld does have hidden notes and information implying something more, but the devs are focusing more on the gameplay then the plot, as that can be added later to give more context. The Storyline and events in S/V have barely any connection to the main plot whatsoever, and just feel like nostalgic holdovers because "You did this in every other game, so we have to force it into the game somehow."
Arven's plot is the only one that directly connects to the Main Story in area Zero. Which is hinted at throughout the game, as Arven's parents are the ones mainly pushing the Area Zero aspect. So I have no qualms with his section, especially since it did have emotional impact and strong development. Of the 3 sidestories; Arven's was easily the best one.
But, Nemona and Pennys, while okay in their own right... they serve no relevance to the main plot, other than extra baggage, because Area Zero apparently requires someone good with tech and someone good with battling; in order to enter it (which becomes m00t when you realize you can enter it by yourself at any point once the main quest is finished, thus defeating the purpose of needing the team at all: But also, since the Professor asks you to come to Area Zero why doesn't he just open the door for you); it just feels like they took 3 unrelated sequences and forced you to do them to unlock the main quest because... convenient plot related quest barrier.
In other Open world games, these side stories would've been character arcs, which add into the main plot; with the characters focusing on the main plot, and their side stories adding more to their reasons and goals to accomplish the main plot. They'd help you open up to them more... but Pokemon makes the character arcs, the main plot; and as a result it feels undercooked, as if there is a major aspect of it just missing (the thing pulling them into the main plot). Again, Arven's is the only one not suffering from this.
To the DLC's credit, the first DLC centered around Ogrepon, managed to have great characters, a great plot, and good development that actually goes somewhere and felt well done. I actually found this to be better then the main storyline of the game. However, the second DLC and the Epilogue apparently missed those memos and actually have terrible story lines full of contrivances for the sake of you being the main character.
Palworld's been an absolute blast. Love it.
If i had a PC, I would certainly give Palworld a chance, even if the actual gameplay doesn't fit with my preferences.
And fanboys are the worst. It's one thing to be a genwunner, but a blind fan to Pokémon just because? Even I can tell when the series has hit its peak, and many discuss which games they would like to revisit in modern remakes. The Colosseum/XD series were a great departure in art direction, story and execution, and remastered versions updated to the meta would be very welcome. Too bad the original Genius Sonority team was mostly debanded, reduced to making puzzlers, and it was said to be a game Game Freak want it to be forgotten.
To like one over the other doesn't make one a traitor or less of a fan of an IP.
Kudos to Demeech for not totally giving a sweeping win to Palworld just for his disappointment over ScVi. Some good points was brought with the bad.
Never heard of Pepsi blue would like to trade sounds good I like blueberry and Pepsi is a light soda even though my favorite soda is sprite
The type of gameplay in Palworld would only work as a spinoff title and not a mainline one, so it isn’t directly competing with Pokemon. Mainline Pokemon games occupy a niche with their unique four-move turn based combat system. Palworld just fills a niche for those who would love to see Pokemon in a completely different kind of game.
Been looking at this pokemon vs Palworld debate for some time now and it's only getting weirder from here
No surprised palworld won for treasure with pokemon being so close to victory only for obvious reasons holding it back from greatness
as far if they'll survive the warth of game freak who knows at this point because to me this situation is pretty much the modern-day equivalent to the whole Ryu Vs. Ryoko situation (and we all know how that turned out in the end)
Amazing breaking records of Steam’s biggest two week drop, lol!
I’ll happily keep sticking with Peakmon S/V!
Looking at some longplays of palworld as a die-hard pokemon fan, I'm gonna be honest. If this isnt the wake-up call Gamefreak needs to make their games actually good (a pokemon die-hard who admits the games are bad??? No way!) Or else they might see some serious damage to their wallet. That being said, I don't think it will kill pokemon, it'll just bring much needed competition to the genre (even though the games are vastly different) will which no doubt result in better pokemon games over the long run. If not, pokemon might be actually dead, which would suck. That franchise was my childhood, and I still love it. (yes i also think palworld is a fantastic game too)
For now the only thing palworld can do is fix bugs as there are a ton of them then adding new content (despite some ppl already 100% the game) it def also is worse on the xbox due to the delay of their patches being behind. But at least pocket pair fixes their game then releasing new content like pokemon does.
Fun fact Nintendo apologize about the launch of Scarlet and violet but only to their Japanese audience
On your point about value, to get the total experience for any Pokémon generation you need to buy both base games alongside the DLC, so you'd be sitting around $150 at that point, and I stan my boy Lamball.
You don't need both copies, you just need to trade with someone that has the other copy. Why do people keep pushing this $120+ narrative when it's only ever a thing with hardcore fans?
@@UncannyEXP Not true. There have been world differences between the games since Ruby and Sapphire. Different cities, leaders, Pokémon, and slight story changes.
Honestly, if they make a sequel to Palworld with elements from say... GTA, in that you drive the story forward at your own pace while still enjoying the fun of an open world, I think it could top the original. Of course, let's get this game finished first, lol. 😅
Palword is not original, just a ark ripoff with Pokémon elements
9:30 Why do you got to do my boy Joker like that?
It's referencing a Kotaku article about a Persona song in Smash
@@Demeechkotaku is the krakatoa of cringe
Palworld has a story. You have to find journals and reveal the story yourself similar to Ark Survival
I do not get why people are even comparing Palworld and Pokemon. Comparing Palworld to Pokemon is like comparing Arma to CoD or Battlefield because they are both shooters or comparing Zelda and Mario games because they were both made by Nintendo. Palworld is a survival game where as Pokémon is well Pokémon. If anything Palworld is more an ARK rip off but with Pokemon instead of Dinosaurs. Have not played Palworld myself but from gameplay I have seen it seems to play a lot more like ARK than Pokémon. Don’t get me wrong Gamefreak has to do way better than Scarlett and Violet in order to inspire hope for future Pokemon games but this whole “Palworld is a better Pokemon notion” is tiring to hear and is not even a good comparison.
Palworld is pretty okay, the only thing that really bothers me is the fact that the characters look very out of place in the realistic world, its like looking at clay or plastic charactes walking around in a realistic world. I never liked Pokemon so maybe thats why I also dont really like Palworld
For the graphics, do you think Palworld looks as good as a Pixar movie? And do you think Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have unfavorable graphical comparisons to PS3 era games such as Grand Theft Auto IV and Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch?
0:28 I hated Fortnite back then as well I feel so stupid for it now though Fortnite is such a legendary game
I feel like most people who hated fortnite back then were Nintendo fans
Legends Arceus would be a more fair comparison.
I'd say it's half "plagiarized" half "inspired" but i haven't played so i can't say for sure.
All i know is that's it's basically "Pokemon with Guns"
Can't wait to watch the premier Demeech!
I consider the lack of cutscenes and explicit story in Palworld to be a much better story than the "very best" storytelling Pokemon has ever done. Pokemon's best story, Black & White, just _barely_ edged up to meet the basic industry standards of a JRPG for storytelling. Not even the exceptionally good JRPGs of almost two decades prior at the time like Dragon Quest 5 and Final Fantasy 6, I'm talking stuff like Phantasy Star 2 & 3 or Paladin's Quest.
And after their bare minimum up to standards story was rejected by their fanbase, they simply stopped trying with storytelling. Sure cutscenes get flashier, but there's been no heart or narrative to Pokemon, just lots of bloat as completely flat characters stand around and stare into nothingness.
Jesus I forgot how bad Scarlet and Violet look. They look like a damn upscaled Dreamcast game, and even that's being generous.
There actually is quite abit of lore in palworld, scattered about in notes hidden all across the island.
nintedamon shills may think we play palworld out of spite, funny they think we even consider pokemon at this point, but na. theres plenty of other creature collector games and ones directly inspired by pokemon that everyone could play. theres such a ginormous number of ppl playing palworld because its what we've been asking for decades ago, and its not dropped off like a meme game cuz it isnt. its just genuinely a fun game.
Great video! Palworld is so easy to get sucked into.
You and I would know well!
Palworld is a Xbox one game first, though it is better to play it on a Series X, much like most games .
Wait how are the cringy dances not a good enough reason to hate Fortnite?
Not only are they cringy, they're stolen too. As well as many other aspects of it being stolen, not from big companies, but from little guys.
Also fortnite is soulless.
