@sfantuch what are you complaining about? The enclosure has over 5 layers of glass which is more than sufficient for what it’s required to support. The only surface that isn’t a complex shape and flat is the bottom which is wood so it didn’t require structural bracing. Not to mention it’s been solid with no cracks or issues for several years of use so far. Do you have a video or something you have done to show us what right looks like?
@@Foxcraze unrelated to this comment. as someone who just spent a bit too much on a used router, seeing you suffer with that dremel made my purchase so much more tolerable.
@youngmango4508 so I read in a lot of old fiberglass box forums that it could help with decreasing internal sound reflection and resonance. Being able to build the enclosure to exact air specs would likely eliminate the need for the deadener but I knew it was an estimated air space and not perfect so I threw it in there to be safe. I can’t tell you if it truly made a difference or not because I didn’t test it before putting the material in🤦🏻♂️. That was another mistake I made in this process.
I was about to get started on this project for my car and wanted to see how others did it. This couldn’t have been more perfect for that. Same subwoofer location I am wanting, same materials I was looking to use, even the same subwoofer I’m hoping to use. When you whipped out the wood floor it really blew my mind because that’s exactly what I was planning to do as well, so in the future when I have air ride I will already have a nice trunk setup I’ll just need to add the tank and compressor and run the lines. Awesome job!
I’m glad you found it helpful!! If you want to go back and look at the entire series there is a lot of good tips and tricks in there that will prob help you out! If you have Instagram, sent me photos when you’re finished cause I would love to see it!
That was stretch fleece from the craft section of Walmart. I have full length build videos of this entire trunk from start to finish in my video library that gives a lot more detail.
@cornelionutmicu3640 so no lie it was so tight in the molding that after adding the wood panels to the floor it locked it in and it hasn’t move an inch.
I was watching this and started to itch subconsciously!! LoL the thumbnail I thought the floor was vacuum stripes until I seen what you did there with the flooring. Looks really good!!
Much appreciate the share. Got a Lil sick when you F.F. the action cam on head but saving me time and hassle with how you outlined the area using a plastic sheet will save me having to pull the rear side paneling on the wagon. Thanks
Wow 👌 👏 that is what I always want for my RunX to use the boot corner space. I never get someone who will take my idea. The brothers I used to go to usually tell that I'm wasting their time 😢😢 while there is you here with a great skill 🫡 I salute you 👏 👌 👍 🙌 🙏 💯

@@Foxcraze good to know, I recently bought a custom enclosure for my is300 (2002) but I am struggling to find a good place to mount my amp. That led me to your video, even though it’s about building a subwoofer enclosure I thought maybe I could take the info and customize it to build a custom amp rack. I want to mount my amp to the side like you did your sub. I just have to figure out a way to add a fan in as well so my amp doesn’t overheat being stuffed in a somewhat sealed space.
Appreciate the kind words. The sub currently has a tear in the surround from a grocery accident lol It still works and sounds fine with the trunk closed but once I get it replaced I will do that!
Thank you! I plan to redo all of it at some point and upgrade the sub to likely a 10” kicker compQ. If I do something in the other corner it might be an amp rack because 1 sub is honestly enough for me at this point in my life lol
Super clean build. About to start the journey myself to build a fiberglass box for my 5th gen 4runner to fit over the wheel well area. Def using your vid for guidance since it's been about 20yrs working with fiberglass to build a custom box. Again awesome vid and end result!
Incredible work man, great time lapse too. Also like how you mounted the amp in the opening for better cooling, smart move. Really awesome finished product, the vinyl wrap looks clean.
That was a great relaxing video bro. I'm 42 now but all through the mid too late and early 90's and 2000's This is how i made extra money on the side working for myself through mostly just word of mouth. I had a honda accord and took out my back seats and built probably my most crazy setup ever in place of the back seats using basically the same method. That car was crazy loud back in those day's before thing's really blow up in the bass and system world with some of the crazy stuff they got out there these day's. I made good money doing stuff smaller though like you did. My car at that time was the biggest project like this i ever did and it turned out amazing and clean sounding from highs and lows a well balanced combo between treble and bass. It was all flowing nicely it was just a flat surface over that wide area instead it looked like a wave kinda with speaker's from 8's too a 15 being the largest in the middle 8's on the outer then some 10's and the 15 it was so beautiful and i wish i still owned that car. A buddy of mine borrowed it and got into a bad accident and by the time i was allowed too actually Physically see and touch my car the majority of whatever was still good from that massive project of a system was stolen so i was told by the lot it was being kept at while investigation was going on because it was a bad accident unfortunately. But watching this brought back those memories of the amount of time and sweat and everything that went into that build. Thank you for the relaxing video and memories it gave me of a time when this was how i made a living all those year's ago.
Yeah man I feel everything you’re saying. My old truck had a wall of MA Audio 1200 XL’s running on over 4k watts. I have been dabbling in cars and the such since I graduated high school in 2004 and it’s been a constant learning experience. I will likely keep doing this shit till I can’t anymore, it’s just makes me happy haha thanks for the watch and the positive energy. If you haven’t already please subscribe and check out the other videos lots of projects in here and more to come for sure!
Just watched this for the second time...lol. I'm wanting to do an enclosure in my Chrysler Crossfire. I was debating on using wood for the front face or fiberglass. I was hoping to see how you attached the subwoofer rings to the enclosure. Do you have any suggestions for that? Or pics of what you did? I am assuming you just put wood and glassed it to the back of the enclosure somehow.
Check out the 4 video series of the enclosure build specifically. Those videos cover all the details of the project including bracketing the ring for fiberglass work.
Looks great! I have two of these from OEM Audio+ in my BRZ. The only thing that was puzzling to me was the Dynamat inside the enclosure. It won't let sound leak through the enclosure walls, but it will definitely create standing waves and reverberation. You need to use some polyfill insulation to help with that.
Nice, I just purchased a 94 Mercedes Wagon and cant afford a box in my space if I plan on folding down my seats so this will be a perfect solution. I am sure your new Sub outperforms your factory sub.
Oh yeah making a custom box for your application will be a great idea! This setup hits way better than the factory setup did, I love it and works just fine for my needs!
I'm watching this a year after your original upload. I've watched your whole custom sub enclosure series and you've done a fantastic job. I'm now going to attempt to build 2 fibreglass speaker enclosures for my Seadoo jetski. Thanks so much for sharing. I've liked all your videos and subscribed.

Much more interesting than watching someone toss 6 15" woofers into the car and think they got skills.
Agree. Always loved hidden systems. Back in the 90's a friend of mine had a civic hatchback with a 18" in a box that would barely clear the hatch. Didn't care then...
Amazing build Foxcraze!! I've been wanting to start on a fiberglass enclosure for my two tens!! Almost like your build, but two different fiberglass enclosure's on each side. I will have to see how it would settle, since it might take up a lot more space, rather then doing one side. Still, amazing build!! This will definitely help a lot!
Awesome, I’m glad to hear it! For a more detailed build of the enclosure I have a 4 part series deeper in the video section that goes into way more detail.
Hmm🤔 Still thinking about what kind of subwoofer I want but I will definitely do the wood floor at some point! Good video, shows the making of the box well.
i got a e46 wagon and on both left and right there are some "doors" for battery and other side not sure what is there but im considering remodeling them to give some space for 2 subwoofers since the left and right side are a bit towards the fenders and have so much space that i can do a "inflated" shape hmmm... i like ur result
One of the most thorough sub enclosure build I’ve seen.. Wow! Awesome job. Looks great.
I appreciate that, I have a 4 video series on the channel that’s goes into even more depth on how to build one yourself from start to finish.
you call that thorough?? a boz that light can pass through? no bracing?
