@@poordaddrkids6189 - maybe you are just an introvert? If so, it is not really 'shyness', it is just that you are fine with your own company and live 'inside your head' more than the average person. I learned a lot about my introversion from the Myers-Briggs test - even the short ones on line and the descriptions are TERRIFIC, imo. Now I know what my differences are and how to cater to them, no real apologies about being who I am.

My observation in watching vlogs is that I like people that are just being authentic and not trying too hard to get attention.
This is how I feel too. In fact, I'm watching this video because I'm entertaining the idea of starting one of these things. I'm not flashy, sexy or cool. The concept behind “kill your babies” was such a powerful one for me to hear. It really is so hard to cut footage that you spent so much time and effort on. But you’re so right about needing to be objective when editing. If the shot doesn’t fit and move the story forward, it needs to go, regardless of how much weight I put on it. Good stuff! Thanks!

I really appreciate this video. I’ve been in a massive creator rut. I used to post videos because it was fun, but I realized I was lost. A lot happened, but this is the wake up call I needed. Luckily I’ve been creating on Instagram, so I’m not completely lost. Thank you! I am so hyped to create again on UA-cam.
Thank you! I want to do this...I believe I can do this....I need to do this. Lots to learn and so appreciate you teaching me. Turning 72 in April and ready for a grand challenge to bring pizzazz to this season of life. Onward!
OMG you sooooo have to. My mother is 69 and I am constantly pushing her to be more proactive in learning technology. She is always saying that at her age it is ok not to keep up to date with tech... I disagree and I would LOVE to show her your vlog (once you get it up and running) to prove to her that she is not too old to keep up with tech. DO IT!!!!
I literally have no experience at all with vlogging but one tip that just came to me that ive used in different situations kind of like vlogging that I bet would work with some of you who dont want to do it in public (I dont think I personally will mind as much) is to wear sunglasses. it makes u look like you actually know what your doing, and it makes you appear older and more famous than what you are which can actually help you get into more things and talk freer to anyone around you and the camera. Just make sure you dont do it too much and find a space away from people so they can see your eyes, ESPECIALLY if something interesting is happening or your saying something important because your eyes sell the story and let them connect with you. Idk where all that came from but I felt like I should share :)
Awesome video man! I think everyone who is thinking about getting into vlogging needs to watch this! Too many people are all about "come along with me through out my day" which is just boring as hell...
[-_-;] I completely agree. I honestly look for the person if I subscribe. Like, I don’t care what kind of videos they do. I enjoy them for the person. I know that’s not like a lot of people. But I definitely do not enjoy watching people with an ego or doing it for the money... and you can definitely tell who those people are.
This video really helps, I want to VLOG to help capture some more of my experiences when I travel because I feel like taking photos and videos for Instagram just doesn't capture the whole experience anymore
Thank you for this vlog, Jeven. This would have been even better for me if you provided a sense of how long it takes to make a 10 minute vlog: • How many clock hours for the planning? • How many clock hours for the filming? • How many clock hours for the editing? • How many clock hours to make the thumb nail, the banner, and title? • How long to upload the video to the UA-cam server? • How many clock hours to read and answer comments? I believe Atua Mo'e, who has done thousands of videos, wrote that it still takes him 5 - 6 hours to produce a 20 minute video.
It all depends on you. For me I plan the day before. Look at what we're doing and come up with a base idea of what I'll film. For filming its all about what it is that im doing. I usually shoot all day for travel vlog. For a Tutorial style vlog I do a 20-4 min recording talking to camera. Editing takes me 1-2 hours, but I'm a really fast editor. Thats one thing I've worked on speeding up so I don't spend so much time in the edit bay. Thumbnail usually takes 15 minutes. I just grab a still and do some simple editing to it. For a 20 min video it can easily take 5-6 hours depending on the graphics and content that I'm showing. My new tutorial on Orange Teal LUTS took me over 7 hours. My vlog I posted today took me 2 hours. All depends on content and what you're editing.

im dropping my 2nd vlog today wish me luck, i started vlogging because im tired of being home all day due to the lockdown but vlogging is keeping me busy and its pretty fun . . . Update - i uploaded some vlogs on my channel and everything was going well and i was getting awsome feedback, but im getting super busy with with work now and i also started training jiu jitsu 5 times a week now and vlogging was costing me money everytime i went out and would try to create content it would be fun but i'd spent money i could be saving. In Miami the pandemic is not over but everyone is starting to go back to their normal life and now i barely have time to shoot. Ima keep uploading when i can tho but life right now has me tied up, Goodluck to everyone

Actually not gonna lie, this video was very helpful. This guy actually got me a little pumped up and excited to start creating my own vlogs. Did I mention I took note on every single part?
Hello, I have watched numerous videos that you have created and was curious if you could offer suggestions or tips that would help with creating live videos or vlogs? My wife has a small art studio and would like to create both live streams and vlogs but would like the ability to have a split screen or Picture in Picture. This would be a benefit as she demonstrates her painting techniques close up on an easel while simultaneously interacting with viewers. Do you know of a way that we could do this with good resolution that would showcase the delicate brushwork? One viewpoint would be on the easel and the other would need to follow her as she demonstrates or teaches. Thank you and keep up the great work with your videos! Kind regards, Mark and Sally Rice
This has been an amazing video for me to watch. I’ve been doing photography since 2020 and for 2024 I decided to do more video content. Dealing with a combination of depression, anxiety and low self esteem, I knew I’d set myself a challenge. The way you’ve broken this down into bite size sections has made things a lot easier for me to handle. Thanks for sharing your content. 👍🏻

Onward!
Diana De Paul you can do it! I believe in you!
DO IT!!!!
Hi can you SUBSCRIBE to my channel and i will SUBSCRIBE to yours. Thankyou
I’m 52 I thought I was too old but I’m going to do it! Best of luck🙏🏻
I'm an introvert and i wanna start a Vlog channel to overcome it.
go for it!!
I guess you mean shyness? Introversion and extroversion is not anything you can overcome. You can, however, become a lot more confident
I feel you
I'm the same, introvert and extremely shy so maybe vlogging would be nice and cool to do
Jeff waifei what’s an introvert ?
@@JKL_1999 me too. i have a fitness channel. everytime i tried to talk on camera i feel dumb and horrible. i end up with no talking workout videos.
"it doesn't matter the tool you're doing it with"
content you're capturing
THE only thing matters
@Mahesh Sharma Agree with you
@@punjabiurduhindipoetry9544 and i hope u know, im applying that to. love u man
@Mahesh Sharma What type of tools you use for recording. As i am learning things you might bring inspiration for me.
Thanks a lot
@@punjabiurduhindipoetry9544 pick any of mine then ask the same question. it will help me to share every info u wanna know..
Lord knows the number of crap resolution vids I've endured to the end simply cause the subject matter was intense or captivating.
Stylish Dad yuuuup super boring. I stopped doing daily cause too many of my videos were turning into that. Quality over quantity for sure
correct
I have watched several videos and this is by far the best!! Thank you so much for all the great information.
The key to vlogging is content, and not having a self inflated ego...
So true
This video really helps, I want to VLOG to help capture some more of my experiences when I travel because I feel like taking photos and videos for Instagram just doesn't capture the whole experience anymore
Thank you for this vlog, Jeven. This would have been even better for me if you provided a sense of how long it takes to make a 10 minute vlog:
• How many clock hours for the planning?
Thank you, Jeven.
The first 'How to vlog video' I've watched without having the feeling that I'm wasting my time.
And a great example.

we make free vlog music..........you can use our songs...for example vlog song of the year VACATION :)
Well, I was just planning to fast forward it, but ended up watching the whole thing. This guy doesn't talk non sense. Very informative and straight to the point. Good job! Now I feel like I really want to vlog. I have the talent, but no patience in editing. hahaha.
I've always loved filming fun things my friends and I do and editing it into tiktoks or lil edited videos... but now I'm getting my driving license and I'm more seriously thinking about learning how to make proper vlogs that my friends can enjoy and look back at. This video helped me a lot, thanks!
one of the best beginners guide to vlogging, love the visual example after each tips, really helps to understand better . Thank you.
This is such a great video. I feel like it was both engaging AND chock full of information. Figuring out what equipment to use etc is not easy, and this made such a big difference. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
I’ve been brainstormed for weeks trying to figure out my niche, I’m glad I finally came across this video
Thanx for sharing all this info! We just started vlogging and while editing them I realized I missed a lot of stuff that you have mentioned, and I can't wait to incorporate them. Thank you!
Jeven, you are an amazing content creator. I found you because of your drone videos, but EVERY video of yours is a gemstone. I have learned so much from your tutorials. I always wanted to vlog but always hesitated to start. Your videos are so motivating. This comment is going to drown in the thousand of comments in the multiple sections, but really wanted to appreciate your effort and content. Keep up the awesome work and best of luck in your upcoming projects :).
Thank you.
I have a great content I need a partner if you’re interested
*Very helpful. I watched the whole thing. There is so much empty advice on how to do UA-cam online, this was genuinely worth the watch*
Thank you. I have been teaching people to ride motorcycles in the UK since 1995. I am thinking of starting a channel to help both learner riders and instructors. Great content and advice. Maybe soon, I will gain enough confidence to get started...
Thank you Jeven. The way you explained the whole concept from pre-design to post design of the vlog makes it very useful for Amateur like me to understand and put it through the learning and this journey. Thank you once again!!
I have 250K subs, and have been daily vlogging for over a year now. Hard is a grand understatement. It hurts!!
Awww bless you a year that's so hard to keep up with especially daily!!
Way to go buddy , u gonna be a huge star one day
Bro it shows how hardworking you are just go with the same flow and you will be surely reach 1 m all the best just subscribed you.
This video actually inspired me to start creating videos to motive teenagers and young adults to follow their passions and business ventures no matter how young they are. I just made a whole video talking about how I started my media company at age 12 :) Check it out!!
The grind 👌🏾👌🏾
Ive started vlogging using my iphone 8+ and adobe splice, it works well and had no upfront cost.
Bob The Third nice! Thanks for the tip. I need to check out adobe splice since I’m going to start my own vlog soon!
I have ideas, stories to tell, the gear, the editing softwares, but lacking confidence to step out in public. This is such a great encouragement that I need to just get out and get shooting without the care in the world about what people will think of me.. Great advise. Thank you.
Thank you so much.. I have learned a lot about Vlogging.. Thank you. Love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
I decided I'm gonna start youtube after yearsssssss of contemplating it (I simply don't care what people think anymore) and I wanna start with a vlog! YAYYY
Ikhlas M yes! Small UA-camr here🙃
Looking forward to improve my vlog, thanks so much for this video. One of the main take away for me is to not worry about others looking at me while shooting videos! I put a lot of thought about that stuff like whether or not I can shoot a video. Thanks a lot. I hope to make my videos better in future.
I have watched lots of UA-cam video's, but your video has more productive information then most. A Great job! Keep up the good work!
This was really well done, organized and informative...a guy who actually posts with humility and careful thought.
I really needed this video, actually I watched a year ago, but today I feel it totally different after I bought some equipment and applied some rules. Thanks a lot for your effort and helping us 😊😊😊
I can't thank you enough for this video! This really bring me out of the dark. I had no idea how to get started vlogging and now I feel like it's not going to be fun (like it should be right?) and not a long hard struggle.
I have a great content that we can work on together if you’re interested
@@Beefgamenaija let's discuss
I'm a beginner and try to create content. You've answered my entire questions and confusions that makes me to hit the subscribe button. Thank you Jeven Dovey. Much Love from the South Pacific Islands. Stay blessed
very useful information 👌❤
- do not care what others are thinking
- story on vlog/make it as a movie
however, they have to think about what UA-cam is thinking. otherwise UA-cam will disadvantage them
Jeven that was a great video, very articulate and informative. I've always wondered how UA-camrs do it and I really learned a lot from your video. Maybe now I'll start my own little vlog.
So what do you recommend for someone who works a 9-5 and doesn’t really travel much but wants to start vlogging?...
P.s you kinda looks like Nick Bare 🤔
We have an RV channel, but we really struggle with blogging. We tend to tell more of where we're going and what we're doing we need to do better at this. Thanks so much for sharing! Lynn and Danny
Shyness is something to overcome when starting a vlog. When I’m in the public, i started to get nervous that is why until now I can’t make my vlog.
Hey thanks for such an in depth talk. This kind of content is what makes it great! Growing pains have to be the funniest part of the process. I am at video number 9 and I’m still messing up so much and trying to find my niche but it’s great to know that these steps can be followed and see results!
I love your content, dude.
Great tips in this video. I think having b-roll or background footage in between your talking points is KEY. That's has basically been the formula for my channel and am pleased with the result! Try it out!
love this video! the point about not carrying is so good, yet so difficult to over come. I end up whispering lol I will keep on working on this!
Hey there Jeven, thanks for sharing this, your style of presenting information is very approachable and super useful to me 👍
Excellent advice about getting over vlogging in public. I have such a hard time vlogging around other people!! Thanks for the kick in the butt. ;-)
Very good video quite helpful information
This looks cool!☺️
Now we know this works if the infamous Norman commented! I'm def gonna be doing this
Sure
I’m a beginner vlogger and hiker, I vlog during hikes like to caves, waterfalls, arches, etc. I’m starting to become less camera shy and vlog and adventure a lot.
I wish really there would be more views on this Video! I love that you put in the effort and thought plus your experience! You share what you learned so we all can kind of "shortcut" the time of collecting the knowledge. Loved it man !
right
Thanks for the helpful tips, you and your vlogs have motivated me to create a vlogging channel. Will definitely keep these in mind.
im dropping my 2nd vlog today wish me luck, i started vlogging because im tired of being home all day due to the lockdown but vlogging is keeping me busy and its pretty fun

What program you use to edit your videos?

Hi Jeven , always impressed with your photography and film-making skills, learning a lot from you and applying it to my channel. Thanks
all the best to you
Great content! I want to start a vlog, too. Especially your tip "Don't be afraid" is really encouraging. Hope to find more inspiration soon!
This is the best tutorial I've ever watched!
Thanks for these great insights! I want to restart and also change my UA-cam channel after it's been down for a couple of years and I am currently looking for how to improve my videos. This great video is a great guide for me with lots of valuable information. Thanks again.
i am just starting and aiming on learning more. please spread the love
Actually not gonna lie, this video was very helpful. This guy actually got me a little pumped up and excited to start creating my own vlogs. Did I mention I took note on every single part?
So do I had this planner laying on my desk collecting dust suddenly became useful.. lol,,
Hello, I have watched numerous videos that you have created and was curious if you could offer suggestions or tips that would help with creating live videos or vlogs? My wife has a small art studio and would like to create both live streams and vlogs but would like the ability to have a split screen or Picture in Picture. This would be a benefit as she demonstrates her painting techniques close up on an easel while simultaneously interacting with viewers. Do you know of a way that we could do this with good resolution that would showcase the delicate brushwork? One viewpoint would be on the easel and the other would need to follow her as she demonstrates or teaches.
Thank you and keep up the great work with your videos!
Kind regards,
Mark and Sally Rice
New Vlogger here🙋 soaking in all the tips. thanks for sharing!
You and I both!
Done🤗 already subscribe your channel hopefully u will susubcribe my channel too. Help me thank you so much
one word….. engaging! Thanks Jeven!
Needed this! I’m doing my first vlog when I go on vacation in two weeks
did you start you vlog?
This has been an amazing video for me to watch. I’ve been doing photography since 2020 and for 2024 I decided to do more video content. Dealing with a combination of depression, anxiety and low self esteem, I knew I’d set myself a challenge. The way you’ve broken this down into bite size sections has made things a lot easier for me to handle. Thanks for sharing your content. 👍🏻
What are some good cameras to start off vlogging with other then a go pro and iPhone?
a canon g7x mark II is amazing!
I love this video! planning to vlog soon, so helpful! thanks !
I whole heartedly agree! So much good advice.
Much love man, nobody explains better than you do, keep it up
This video was very helpful! Thank you so much for your advice!

Wow. Thank you so much for all of that great info. Super helpful!
Thank you Jeven, Im doing a food vlog tomorrow in New York and this helped me with my planning alot. Thanks again.
