The amount of RTV that is going to mix with oil is sure going to block most if not all the oil passages.

Saw many cars come in to my shop with no oil pressure, or spun crank bearings, clacking hydraulic lifters, seized engine, etc, because the sump pickup was plugged with silicone that sloughed off after a valve cover gasket replacement. Especially bad was that old Racers Blue silicone.

Reminds me of a short lived engine I disassembled.. Absolutely riddled with RTV squeeze out. It was like silicon spaghetti and it was everywhere.. Oil galleries, water passageways. Big daggy bits dangling down the intake runners.. Hard to know if the oil starvation was from the blocked pickup or just most of the engine oil being in the rocker cover because it couldn't drain fast enough lol.

The water pump leak at one spot. Wasted a day for one spot and now how to take it apart.
For years I normally put it on one side of a normal gasket. Tomorrow I will replace with a normal gasket and no rtv.
I like the silicone combination gaskets so I guess I’ll move into 2022 but I live in the country so I have to fix my truck to get there or walk… it’s only 7 miles to the store and when I was 12 that was a normal walk

Turned out to be blocked with too much silicone gasket sealant from a past oil pan seal that plugged the oil pump screen. Some mechanics are not up to snuff and haven't a clue. Another acquaintance used pure antifreeze and cracked an expensive block. The ignorance abounds and so I don't let too many people touch my vehicles and I don't have many problems with my work.
