can you do that for gimp too?
Sure, already do: logosbynick.com/gimp
Nice vid nick, i have a question tho, why do you prefer duplicating with ctl d, while you can just press space while dragging an object?
Just enrolled. Looking forward to the course! 👍
@@fadiilfikrillah8138 When u do that by pressing space then the alignment should not be the way you want, by dublicating you can move your object in the speciefied way in linear motion that so.
Shift+Alt+Drag!!!!! Where has that keystroke been my whole life!!! Been needing that one! Thanks. Great work as always!!!
It's a life saver. I'm surprised how handy it is throughout my work day since I found out about it
Another simple tutorial by the best Photo editing channel on UA-cam!
Just a suggestion. Instead of selecting the nodes of each line separately, just select the nodes of a line, press and hold 'Shift', click on another line to select it, now select the two nodes of that line. You can select as many pair of nodes as you like in one go and hit 'join selected nodes' and the effect will be applied to all the selected lines.
Thanks for the tutorial, love you.
Wow, i didt expext it.. you are geniues👍
Thank you, Nick! The best out there for Inkscape tutorials!
That shift + alt seems like a really useful shorcut. Nice video as always, love that you have a lot of videos for inkscape, I'm really liking it 'til now.
The best inkscape's tutorials..thanks Nick
Fantastic, your videos are awesome!!! Congratulations. They clarify so many little things in inkscape. I'm a designer switiching to linux and your videos are just fundamental steps for that. Thank you Nick.
Great tutorial Nick 👏🏻
I’ve just followed this and used same technique for my logo and now looks AWESOME. Thanks again. Subscribed and keep up the great work.
Always quality from ya Nick, thanks!
Once again -- You taught me something both graphically useful and then Inkscape related. Holy Crap the method of selecting objects via shift alt made watching this quite worth it. Keep on Going!
Thank you!! I look forward to seeing your title hit my inbox! Love the vids!
Such a helpful tutorial. I didn't know the shift + alt shortcut to draw a red line and select certain paths. Game changer!
I Love your tutorials man they have taught me so so much
i have been following your videos and i have to admit you are the best. please keep doing the good work. stay blessed.
After a long time,. Ty for tutorial mr.nick
Beautiful and easy as always!
You literally dont know how much your tutorials help me , i have made my channel Banner and thumbnails better using ur tutorials . Thanks :)
Another beautiful tutorial, thank you :)
I think I'm going to make a banner with this technique!!
6:00 - this is why i love your videos! Golden tips like that, thank you! (Plus, your designs are also rad :))
I know how to use inkscape, but I still enjoyed a lot following you through this work.
You truly inspire me to switch over to linux. I never thought open source was equivalent or even better than other OS's. I have so many reasons to switch over to Linux, and you just gave me more!
There are some limitations but they are minimal. OS works just fine for 99% of design uses.
very helpful and clear explanation, thank you very much!
To join a whole bunch of nodes all at once - Select everything using Ctrl-A (or clickdrag over everything), then select the "edit paths by nodes" tool so you can see the nodes, then clickdrag over all the nodes you want to join, then press the "Join selected nodes" button. Inkscape will only join nodes that are in the same shape.
Wonderful tutorial, super helpful. The method in the video is super labor intensive though in the step to combine nodes to get the tapered line pattern. You can accomplish the same effect more efficiently if you make the tapered line separately and use that as a pattern to apply to all the paths in your "lined" letter.
Another great video Nick
You’re the BEST ! 👍
This video is EPIC. I was always wondering if there were a CROP-select type tool to delete unwanted entities. Just found out about SHIFT-ALT > red line. Thanks Nick!!
Thanks Nick ^^
Brilliant!
Lots of likes for this tut, dojng this in 1.1 inkscape
Also hint that you can select all the line nodes by pressing shift and clicking line ends, then press control and drag above the selected node and join them to make lines pointy
Very nice, thank you! Thumbs UP!
I have just installed inkscape and your videos are brilliant.
Maybe a bit fast for learners but well worth watching.
I have a few of your videos saved
Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. If it helps you can slow down the speed of the video using the settings (gear icon.)
@@LogosByNick thanks I will try that
One of the things that I like about Nick's videos is that there is a goal on the video and on the process of going towards the goal, we learn many functions on the way. Do you have any videos where you bend vectors? I am having some trouble bending objects in inkscape. Thanks in advance!
Very informative!
I love it
Beautiul Nick 👍
Excellent as always. But you only need to hold down ALT (not Shift ALT) to select multiple objects with the "red line".
Simple yet so powerfull/advanced Look :D
Awesome 👍👍
shift alt arrow = red line. useful! thx~~~
Super cool
My brain hurts from looking at all those lines.
same
Same bro.. but after that, is wonderful design
Have so much fun with you
Fantastic
Nick you stay with the 🔥 I wonder if you have had any experience with the affinity suite of apps (namely designer since it's a vector drawing program like inkscape). If so could we get a vid with your thoughts on it's mechanics, likes, dislikes, etc.? Thanks again buddy!
Amazing :)
great tutorial nick!, but why you didnt use the clone tool?
Hey Nick, would you ever consider making a dedicated video about shading in inkscape? I tried to see if you had any tutorials, but the closest two that I found where demonstrated in your wine glass video, and you soda can video. I been trying to watch a some videos in illustrator, and then try to translate what they say into inkscape speak, but it is still kind of difficult to follow.
Thanks for the awesome content!
awesome
Wassup Nick
Is it possible to do this with objects as well
If so how can you do it, and do it on only part of the image and not all of it
great video :)
Great tutorial Nick, but I wish I could see your tool bar.
Looking Forward with Invitation Card in Inkscape or GIMP
Thank you Nick. Is there a way to have it in Gimp?
make sure to disable snapping for those that are getting a black rectangle when using the button horizontal gaps.
Hallo, is there no way of doing these repetitive tasks easier or all at once? I mean like catch the two nodes and put them together? No scripting or macro ?
Thank you
For the people who wanna do this with a word instead of a letter. Follow the instructions as shown in the video. When you have to 'cut paths' follow these instructions: Select all the letters, click Path > Stroke to Path, Object > Ungroup. Make sure to select all letters, and click Path > Union. Now you can select the stripes and letters and go to Path > Cut Path
Hi,
I did this.
Now when I have a letter like H
The paths passing through the centre are continuous from the left of H to the right Side, Passing throught the middle " - "
These paths appear thinner than the other paths which don't pass from one side to another. How to fix that ?
@@megaraitei If I'm not mistaken there are dots on each end of a line in the letter shape. You can click on each dot individually and just press delete or backspace on mac and that should delete the access lines
Cool
Nice! Which version are you using?
AWESOME TUTORIAL NICK!
LOVED IT!
I'm having trouble with cut path!!😭
sorry for late reply but did you convert the letter to object to path and ungroup it?
Someone has a solution for that? Isn't working for me either
Yeah, maybe you all forget to object to path and than ungroup the letter..
nice, here a tip: Instead editing each path by joining nodes you can add an LPE-Powerstroke path effect to a single one line, then copy and paste the effect at once by pressing CTR+7. You'll have the same result in seconds!
Hi, would you mind explaining or walking though the actual steps to do what you are suggesting? TY
YOU CAN ALSO USE OBJECT>CUT>SET
5:35 Doesn't the 'Path- Intersection' make it easier?
It won't have rounded ends but that can be fixed when you're making the other end pointed, right?
Tip
For your fast forward Part where we have to "join nodes". You can Select multiple Lines with shift and then drag over all nodes you need and press "join nodes".
If you have trouble with cut path, select the text and ungroup it then regroup it
That doesn't work for me
Hi Nick
How can I make wavy line? the way a piece of cloth is, in the wind !
круто получилось)
I cant even see the letter once i use cut path to delete the lines. I've done everything this video says and used a big thick letter to.
Why cant i see the letter?
In 1.3 version ( hold ALT and drag a line + del)
Hi Nick! Thanks a lot for your content, I really enjoy applying your guides to generate some custom logos for myself. I actually have a question. Is there a nice, clean way to tilt the shaped lines towards one side in gradual manner? Just as a reference, I would like to get a result similar to a gradient vector field.
Its possible to gradually tilt the lines but I am unsure about what you exactly want to achieve...
Maybe use the perspective effect tool?
Is there a way to do this in GIMP? I would like to see a video on that.
Wow
Very *THICC* font
How do i do more than one letter at a time?? :(
Excuse my language but I fucking love your videos man I wall out feeling so smart 🙂
Nick, which version is this Inkscape?
NOT able cur paths when I used with custon text logo ??
Solution plzz
Hey nick how do I turn off snapping I use Inkscape but can’t seem to turn snapping off even in document properties , great video btw
There's a button at the top left side of the screen that says "enable snapping", just turn that off
Hi Nick, i was wondering if you could help @6.08 where you cut path, my circles are sporadic and not to the shape of the letter, but i can't for the life of me figure out why - i am following the tutorial step by step bu the cut path is not making the shape of my letter? -HELP?
Just downloaded very new version of this app, and my first tutorial was this. In order to make the line thicker something needs to be selected then chaing pixel would work. It took my 10min other youtuber's tutorial helped for that. It sucka and very frusrated spending hours of work... I memorized all the steps but i still failed cut path for some reason dont work i tried several times. Your steps are for little upper level people... i really wanted to enjoy but i pissed off lol
can we use interolate instead of duplicate in begining...
After cut path how to give symmetrical process? Help please?
I'm a bit confused about the difference between union, combine path and group ?
Can I make not only one letter but whole word by thi method ?
And is the method still the same for it ??
when i save it into pdf or png the text doesn't appear. do you know what happen?
i cant cut path, it divides the lines again, what can i do? even using a rectangle
Hello Nick, I'm wondering have you ever had problems installing fonts into inkscape? I am using Windows 10 and when I add a new font it will not show up in inkscape do you have a remedy for it? The font will show up in other programs just not inkscape. Thanks Gary
Gary Loeffler I have a same problem too
tried with an image... managedeto convert that into a path but when i cut path i get a box. help.
Hello sir how to on inkscape dark version
Nick please how i do a word and not one letter?? Im getting crazy to make the words Sonar Gaming in that style
Can you only do one letter at a time? I’m trying to do a four letter word and it won’t let me. Keeps doing only the first letter
why does my installation look horrible compared to yours.. what settings do i need to tweak?
I am trying to cut path both the font and the lines are object to path but when i select cut path, it says "one of the object is not a path, cannot perform boolean operation" HELP
When I click on cut path, everything is disappearing, I waited an hour thinking it would go back to normal but no luck. Any idea on why it might be happening?
Hi. My comment does not have nothing to do with this video i just i hope you can see my question. Do you know if in inkscape can apply or create a lenticular design? And do you know how to do it? Thank you 👍🏻❤️
Why you work with pixels and not in mm, whats its the difference?
Half of the part are supporting "join select node " and other half not.. What to do ??
hey can somebody tell me how to downloaf the Text font?
