    Fantastic tutorial. Just came upon your site and, after viewing this video subscribed immediately. ok I have a question. Love your videos mate. They’ve kept me going to be honest. Inkscape is so frustrating it’s unreal and I’d probably have quit by now if it wasn’t for you.
    My current problem is I’ve cocked the text up and now whenever I type text it’s all bunched together and unreadable. I would love a video showing how to reset things if you mess the settings up or these are problems beginners will come across that will frustrate them when they first start using Inkscape or the best settings to have etc. Is there a way to reset my text settings? I can’t use text now until I fix this problem. Thanks for your help. Keep up the good work.

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much, and I've felt the same way with text "memory". Mine for weeks at a time will default to the jumbled too-close kerning no matter what. I know it's because I used a negative kerning at a large scale and then Inkscape somehow always starts with that even when I open a clean template with normal text default. I totally get the frustration. Here's a fix that should work in theory: Go to Edit- Preferences. Open the Tools tab on the side of the pop up menu. Choose Text and look toward the bottom middle of menu for "Style of New Objects" Click on This Tools own Style. Before you click "Take from Selection" make sure you have some text selected in Inkscape that has the default size and spacing that you want Preferences to remember. Let me know if it actually works in your Inkscape!

    • @christophervernon199
      @christophervernon199 Рік тому

      @@IronEchoDesign I knew you’d reply but wasn’t sure when so I just ended up resetting all my preferences back to default which sorted the problem. What I’m trying to do is close the gaps between my vertical text. I’ve typed a letter and pressed return and then another letter and pressed return. I want to close the gap between the four letters that are written vertically. I’m sure you’ve put this in a video somewhere if you can just point me to that video?

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  Рік тому

      Sounds good. You can always try the Alt + arrow trick. Put the cursor between the letters you want to move. Hold Alt and use the arrow keys with Alt held down to move the text in small increments any direction you want.

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  Рік тому

      Thanks! Paint Bucket is a tricky tool. It will adopt the last Fill and Stroke used. Can you create a solid colored rectangle first? Then go to Paint Bucket and try clicking on your image to see if it works. If not, move the Threshold up or down and try again. Does this help? If not, let me know and I'll log in when I get home and troubleshoot some more.

      Bezier Pen can be tricky! Sounds like something is set differently in the settings for the Bezier tool. First guesses would be to check the Fill Stroke menu to make sure Stroke is on and and not transparent. The Bezier Pen shows a guideline when you are creating the line and its replaced with whatever settings are in the Fill Stroke menu when the line is rendered. I've heard this is happening lately. What a strange glitch. Go to the very top menu and chose the second from the left "Edit" or whatever its called in the alternative language. The very bottom choice in the drop down is Preferences. Whatever its labeled currently, choose it. In the Pop Up Menu, you'll want to select the side bar choice that should read "Interface". When that is open, the very top selection box is the language selector. Hit the triangle and look for your preferred language. Hope this helps!
