      +Dee Pattison I think he believes that such things aren't really relevant to him. That he can somehow bend reality to his will, because 'he's, like, a really smart person' as he would put it.
      I honestly think that he's batshit delusional at this point.

      It's like how the media and the public just got sick and tired of reporting on and hearing about Beiber or Lohan. Maybe if TMZ started calling Trump a has-been with a drug problem, he'd just fade away too. God willing, all this media over-saturation will have already put the kibosh on any future sniff of "Trump TV"

    Maggie, The question about Trump is not whether he does not know or does know. The question is about integration of knowledge! To give you an abstract example, when someone gets to a 5th floor building by walking up a different staircase each time, gradually the individual will know the relative relationship between each staircase and the room and the relationship between each staircase in the building. Separate experiences become woven into a unified multidimensional model of the building's interior passageways. In your examples, you prove this is the issue. He makes a statement which only reflects one aspect of your relationship, like he believes you never wrote anything good about him, but then he acknowledges the story when you wrote something good about Mar-a-lago. Trump may want to be voted president at one point as a popularity contest and, at times, may enjoy the power of the presidency, but when it is difficult, he does not believe the difficulty should be part of being president and will act as if he is surprised that the justice department is investigating him. This lack of integration is a central problem of individuals with severe personality disorders. He knows and he is not naive about things, but his separate understandings tend to not provide a unified understanding about himself. This is the difference between someone like Obama, who sees the proximal and distal consequences of his choices, and Trump, who simply acts to deflect the immediacy of any stressor without consideration of the consequences. This strategy of Trumps simply to deflect has never resulted in any consequence significant enough for him to need to change or integrate his knowledge, so he has never acted towards resolving this. In fact, he uses his claims of blindsightedness to good effect as even smart people like yourself believe that Trump does not know.... allowing him to get away with the stuff he does. But he is not naive and yes he does know! The strategy of how he thinks has worked for him and he has been able to avoid consequences that others would not have been able to. He knows a sucker is around every corner. He also knows that if you are going to kill someone and get away with it, then kill a thousand people and society will not know how to deal with that magnitude of crime.

      Bob S I think these are people who thought just because he's a 'billionaire' and a tv personality they support him. Whereas he only took over his father wealth and illegal dealings. Even the bank won't lend him any money. What does that tell you of him? He thinks the Russian would help him for nothing. Probably, part of the reason why he wanted to become president. How stupid can the people be to support this criminal?

      freaker, Putin controls the Russians who finance Trump and Trump knows that he is obligated to Putin. Trump appeals to authoritarians such as fascists, nationalists, racists, and religious fundamentalists. The Republican party is controlled by money from corportations and wealthy people so they have made their base those dumb enough to think their interests are the same as billionaires.

    Can there be a malfunction on President Trump tweeter account for 1 month out of the 12 months. Can some one explain why he tweet things that are not true and when he is asked about it gives a complete different spin on it.

    It is called psychosis. before I was treated for bipolar - i flipped back and forth about everything. I could say one thing and then the exact opposite... sometimes I would catch myself and feel some disonnance, but I couldn't figure it out completely. Most of the time, I was not able to be aware of these contradictions.

    I am glad these videos exist... Just to double check our historical recollection when challenged by Trumps imaginary recollection.
    If you only knew then what he is Tweeting today!! lol

    The next president of the United States (which will most likely occur before 2020) has one important task to complete on day one. It follows the scene in the movie 'The Ten Commandments' where King Sethi gets pissed at Moses and banishes him. Sethi orders that all mention of Moses (in scripture, on stone, etc.) get stricken as if the name Moses never existed. The same things needs to happen to the 45th president of the United States. As Maggie so succinctly put it, that would be the worst thing you could do to the Donald.

    Makes more sense for Maggie to be on late night as opposed to doing journalism. I do not respect her as a journalist. Like you thought Seth! Maggiei s a faux reporter.

    Not sure how everyone else feels but i don’t ready trump stories anymore ... boring, predidtable, no longer shocking and im convinced he is just there for the attention; just another 3 yrs of him and finally we’ll go back to normal, if there is such a thing anymore;

    Excellent observations, Ms.Haberman. A revealing look at the schizophrenic wizard behind the curtain of politics for show.To quote Gertrude Stein, “There’s no there there."

    First of all, I like this lady. I hope she is interviewed more often.
    Second, the thing she says about Donald letting the 80's inform his worldview? That makes sense. And you know, if you want to live in the past, that's fine. That's your prerogative. But don't let those backwater ways influence the way we govern the future.
