If the church wants to play politics, pay taxes!
No way. I don't want any church to pay taxes. That would make them American and against our constitution of separation of church and state.

Nope. Churches don't pay taxes because they are charities. They have been involved in the formation of our constitution to abolition to women's suffrage, to the civil rights movement. Sounds more to me you mean if their politics are different than yours they should pay taxes. Maybe I'm wrong, but either way the reason they don't pay taxes is because they are considered charities. My argument would be if they don't give away money or have charity programs, they should pay taxes.

There would be no U.S.. Government without the Church. The Forefathers didn’t accurately represent the Lord Jesus Christ, God, in the establishment of our government but they did copy his model. You should do your research, because you’re missing A LOT of information. Some of the LITERAL laws and foundations of our Constitution are LITERALLY copied from the Bible.
Separation of church and state exists. That's not the problem, though. There is no separation of religion and politics.

As a Christian for about 55 years who was raised in a conservative church, I don’t see how you can be a Christian and NOT be a Democrat. Jesus teaches love, compassion and acceptance. He taught us to-care for each other, clothe the poor, feed the hungry, take in the stranger. That’s what I learned in my church.
I know people who used to feel that way - until the Democratic Party kicked out everyone who opposed abortion. Now they are politically homeless.

I went to my daughter’s church and one of the congregation had a sign on his car that read, “if you’re Democrat, you are not a true Christian”. I was taken aback.
The pastor was also mocking people who wore masks due to COVID.
I realized very quickly that church was not for me.

Shortly after 9/11, I made an attempt to reconnect myself with the church, after lapsing from attendance during college.
I was in a new town, so just had to pick one of the churches in the area, found one that I thought was the same denomination I grew up in, Lutheran.
I was shocked, though, when the pastor brought up Falwell and Robertson's attempt to blame 9/11 on gays and feminists. And the pastor AGREED with them. It was then that I realized I was in a Missouri Synod Lutheran church, not the ELCA branch I had been raised in.
This was the first time I had noticed the real evil than can exist inside of Christianity for the first time.
I wish I had walked out during the sermon, but I quietly sat through it, left and never returned. I hadn't realized how DIFFERENT the teachings of the church (which Christ predicted would be so unified that people would look on it and KNOW that He was sent by God) could be.
I do credit this experience with hastening my acknowledgement that I no longer believed. I tried out a few more churches after that, but nothing felt right any more and I just gave up and ultimately admitted I was an atheist.
My best friend’s family encountered something similar. The pastor told congregation to vote red or not show up to church again. Her parents stood up & verbalized their faith but disappointment they were not honoring separation of religion & government; they came to worship God not politicians. They walked out w/ a significant # of parishioners! 😂
I feel if churches are going to be involved in the political arena, then they shouldn’t be allowed to be tax exempt!

The funny thing is that he has ALWAYS been a criminal. He was well known for being a con-man long before he came down that golden escalator - and he was only in the running for publicity, anyway lol... he had no intention of winning, initially - it was just another con from the very beginning. He has also always used the legal system as a weapon - HUNDREDS of people/businesses have had to sue him just to get him to pay what he owes - but he does everything possible to drag it out so that they can't afford to keep up the lawsuits and/or go bankrupt... and that's just the ones that have TRIED to seek redress through the courts. It's amazing to me that ANYONE will work for him, anymore - though goodness knows he's running out of lawyers - and many of them have also had to sue to get paid, too! The man-child is a cheat in every way. He's cheating his own cult members every day and they are willing dupes. It's shocking that so many can't see it - or maybe they can and they just don't care because they are more fixated on avenging their imagined victimhood than anything else. The main difference between the left & the right is that the left wants everyone to be safe & happy - including those on the right. I was ran out of the church I was attending, because I told someone a male choir member came to my home & acted really crazy about going to the bathroom. I only had one bathroom & my daughter was taking a bath. I told him he could go outside, but he wasn't going in the bathroom with my daughter. The church member convinced me that I was wrong. I let him come back to my home & he tried again to get in the bathroom with my daughter. He was no longer welcome in home. The church let me know I was no longer welcome!!!

As an African American with a daughter. I was married to an Black Elder in the Evangelical Church. The rumblings in my heart started when Obama was elected. It was like a slow burn. The mask started dropping from the pulpit. The churches relationship was only with my husband and everything became transactional, leaving his family by the wayside. I finally got enough strength after George Floyd. They became more transparent by then and Covid pushed them off the cliff.
It’s been five years away from that church and marriage. God has been so good 😊😊😊😊😊

I actually stopped going to church for a few years now. I just don't feel like I belong and I do not feel comfortable around other people when they are just wearing a mask to hide their true colors. I have met people that are Trumper's and invited me to go to the same church they go, but knowing they adore this man, I do not see myself going to same church with them. I just pray on my own, treat people well, give support, volunteer and help the impoverished people. And, as long as I am doing a good thing... I do not need to go to church to believe in God.
Amen, I did the same thing, i walked away from the church. they started teaching hate instead of love. i still believe and i don't need the church for my faith.

As someone who was raised in the southern baptist environment, I can confirm that there is no hate like Christian love. I'm so glad that I had rejected it by the time I was in high school

I'm moving to the Episcopal church for similar reasons. They actually practice the love they preach.
I left the Southern Baptist Church in 1969 because of pervasive racism. They haven't gotten better. They have gotten worse.

I have a friend who took a black friend to his church. You know, "all God's children are welcome." Let's just say, that did not end well. He learned that lesson as a child and has not been to any church since. I cannot blame him.
