  • In this video, Capt. C.A. is on the water with Kevin throwing Texas Rigs, but unfortunately the Reds aren't getting caught on it. C.A. does a little trick and coins it the "Texas Rig Hack", which ends up catching some chunky Redfish. Check out the on the water action, followed exactly how C.A. managed to fix the Texas Rig, and get the bites him and Kevin were looking for.

One of my goals as an inshore angler, is to be able to spot fish as good as you. You are to good. If you have any tips, I would love to know

Two things that help out focus on a a surfactant signature given by fish movement and use good optics that creates contrast like #SmithOptics

Another trick is to run the hook just through the skin of the side of the bait. Soon as you get a bite the hook comes free and you have the full hook open.

I could be entirely wrong here but maybe a high speed baitcaster would have helped in this situation. With that strong current and the fish striking you may be creating a great deal of slack in your line. With a spinning reel it's much harder to recover line quickly than it is with a baitcaster. Getting the line tight quicker might make for a better and more powerful hookset. Just a thought. Thanks for the videos.

Hey CA! Awesome vid as always! I gotta ask you a question. How do you know when the conditions are right to use a jerkshad instead of a paddle tail? Im up in MD and the Z Man paddle tails are always my go to but Ive never had luck with the shads. I know its a user era problem. Just wanted your thoughts. Much appreciated!

I experiment a lot… sometimes they want a static retrieve like the paddle tail and every once in awhile they want the erratic movement of a jerk shadz

What net are you using? I’d like a nice folding net like that for the skiff
