- I modified my 4 1/2 x 10 ft Triton XT Snowmobile Trailer by adding 15" high sides, front, and tail gate to use as a utility trailer. I used 1/8" Aluminum Chequer Plate as material.

Very nice and good video. Trailer looks good. Thanks for posting.
Looks great! Good job, mine is very similair but diamond plate salt shield and I used stainless steeling nuts on side for quick removal if I want.
Exactly what I was looking for
Stuff can push the side walls then the back gate could fall off (2:57). Although, is fine with small loads.
"Use hinges with long rods at all four corners to hold the sides together. It's very fast and secure. Picture removing the individual hinge pins on a standard hung door and replacing them with a single long rod and you get the idea." John Resler
Where can I buy the checker diamond plate
To answer a couple Q's from below, I have not had issues with the sides flexing or with the tailgate falling out. When I am carry a full load of gravel or branches or dirt I simply run a couple tie downs across the trailer from one side to the other to pull the sides in taught. I realize hinges would be better but I like the ease of this system, plus I primarily do use this for hauling the sled!
was the $300 include shipping? looks great! id like to use mine as a utility trailer in the summer for carrying mulch and loam however i need sides..great job cuz
Hi there is it hard to change the plywood thanks
Where did you get the aluminum sides from? I really like this idea
Have you had issues with your tailgate when the sides flex from loading your bulk materials? Seems like you'd need latches to keep it from falling out.
Stronghaul trailers was the company that I bought the aluminum checker plate from. They are located in Manitoba Canada
Hey there, where did you have those sides shipped to? Im in Alberta and was wondering how much they'd possibly charge to ship up to Fort McMurray...Im trying to do something similar to my Aluma 8218. Thanks
Yes at the time that included shipping, but I live close to the shop that makes the sides. Their name is in an earlier post below
Did you bend the tops and bottom of the aluminum or did the company that you bought it from?
The company who made the sides is "Stronghaul Trailers" the address is Hwy 326 North, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0, I would call them for shipping prices. Not sure what the cost would be to Fort Mac. I only live 2 hours from arborg in wpg so they brought them in on a trip to the city.
I would put the leap on th inside cut at 45 degree i think could look better but everbody has different tastes i guess
Where did you find the aluminum at? Would like to do this to my 8x10 trailer, approx how much in material cost
How did this hold up over the last 8 yrs? And this is a what I'm looking to do on my double snowmobile trailer
8 years later and it looks like the day I built it. It has worked perfect for me. I use it for hauling the sled I. Winter and for misc landscape yard work in the summer.
@@TheSacman11 thanks for the reply!
Got the aluminum from a trailer dealer in Manitoba Canada. Cost was $300
