    When you pull out your dreads and reinstall them, what is the care of the dreads before you reinstall? Or do you use new ones every time? Do you retwist them with a product? Do you wash them when they are not installed before you reinstall them? Thanks so much!!

    Awesome - this was so helpful! I'm on my first round of wool dreadlock extensions, I'm about 9 days in no wash... I've been avoiding it lol. Do you know if it matters whether or not it's wool or synthetic, does the process change?

    • @nicolepoulton
      @nicolepoulton  Рік тому +1

      I don’t have wool so I’m not 1000% sure but I would assume my process would be the exact same!
      Where I see your process needing to be different would just depend on how your natural hair reacts to the wool!

    Thank you for al the tips! I am watching aal your video's now because I'm new at dreads and I need al the help I can get! Indeed, when dreads are wet they are so heavy! Nevermind damage to my hair, my neck is the real problem. Actually, I think you have 'slippage' after washing because you kinda wrap your natural hair around the braid instead of realy braiding the dread in (3 strand braiding). Looks awsome though, but really braiding the dread and the hair together makes al stronger connection.

      There are a few different ways to install, this way works best for me but im sure you can find a way that works for you!
      Dont hurt your neck! be sure to distribute the weight evenly over your shoulders so you dont cause any damage (hair or neck!!) haha
      im happy you are finding my videos helpful!

    How often do you take all your dreads out and reinstall them? Or do you just continually fix slippage?

    You mentioned you use a good shanpoo and oils. What oils?

    So question..is blow drying safe for synthetic hair? Wouldn’t the heat potentially melt the plastic fibres possibly causing the synthetic loc to become permanently adhered to the natural hair?

    • @nicolepoulton
      @nicolepoulton  Рік тому +2

      I think it might depend on the brand you get! I know the brand I have is safe for blow drying and if you get Celtic ends, you can straighten or curl the ends with no problems!
      I have blow dried my dreads every time after I shower with them and without fail, they are never damaged or anything like that :)

    I had my dreads in for a week and washed my hair, I had massive slippery on nearly every dread. I need to redo everything know. Do u know why that happens ? Wrong braiding in or wrong shampoo?

    Dude, how many dreadlocs , do you have, my thin ones tend to dry more quick unwrapped

    When installing does it matter where you start? Im growing out an undercut and not sure the bottom will be long enough to braid so would like to start at the top and work my way down and stop when it gets too short

    How long are your dread extensions?

  • @DreadedHippieGirl

    I have an assortment of braids and a few are fishtails. I’m almost scared to get them wet bc they are bushy. But Ellie makes them for not only constant wear but to swim and shower and do whatever in. But I’m hoping it won’t make the braids come undone. Also, I’m getting used to the weight. I thought DH dreads were going to be so super light. Since Ellie swims in them a lot. But they so far are heavier than the others I’ve had. I love them so much though. But how long until I get used to the weight? I had sleeping down as well. These are different. Bc the added weight and length. Sleeping was interesting last night.

      Girl! It took me about 2-3 weeks to get fully used to the weight. At this point though I don’t even notice haha I wash mine about once a week but swimming with them is no problem (I’ve only done it a few times) they just take forever to dry if you don’t want to blow dry them lol if you’ve got loose ends, just be sure to brush those out after getting them wet or else they will just dread up over time. (I intentionally let my Celtic ends dread up and it only took about a month or two without brushing the ends out)
      Let me know how it goes though!! ❤️

      @@nicolepoulton that’s what I do at this moment about once a week or I try to stretch it to a week and a half or two weeks for a wash if possible. It’s not the drying process that kills me. It’s the hair washing in general. It’s a lot of hair in the shower to get though and it gets pretty heavy when wet. And that’s when I have rubber bands break and dreads come lose or come out sometimes. I don’t usually have them break so much. But for some reason this last shower multiple broke and I just fixed them after my shower when my hair dried. I’m ordering different bands to see if that helps. I guess that is what scares me about swimming I would hate to “lose” one. Or have to figure out what in the world to do with it since it came out while swimming. Idk I haven’t swam with them yet to figure out if it’s an issue.

    Hello, i just got my cyberdreads done for the first time last week and i washed them yesterday for the first time, something strange i guess happened, they seem like flat(?) Like they've lost volume... even with hairstyles they feel different like as if there were less of what they used to before😮 idk if this makes sense but i was wondering if something can be done about it or if they are meant to kinda deflate(?)😂
    I used a few drops of rosemary oil in the shampoo and no conditioner tho could it be the oil? Thanks❤

    • @nicolepoulton
      @nicolepoulton  Рік тому

      I’m not sure what cyberdreads are so idk how they are different from mine but mine only lost volume when they’re wet. As soon as they dry they’re back to normal!
      I know you commented a little bit ago. Have you found any resolution to the problem??

      @@nicolepoulton hii thanks for answering, i think in the end it was just my perception, It was the first time having them so idk😂 they're synthetic dreadlocks basically, thank you for your time, have a great day🌸

    • @nicolepoulton

      I use Moroccan oil for my dry hair and I use redkin extreme repare for the shampoo (and conditioner when I don’t have my dreads in). I’ve got it all linked on my Amazon store ❤️
      When I don’t have my dreads in and I’m blow drying my hair, I also use a heat protectant called Kenra (I think lol)
      I’d say the only thing I’m still figuring out for my hair is when I wear it curly without the dreads, I need a gel to help with the frizz lol

    Wait 6 pumps a week, I gotta be washing my normal hair wrong then. It takes me 13 long pumps to foam up lather half my freaking head each shower. 😒 maybe I need a different shampoo.

      It could also be difference in how much hair you have and how long it is. Everyone is different :) that being said, I LOVE my shampoo!

    • @nicolepoulton
      @nicolepoulton  Рік тому +2

      YES! I have some "dainty" dreads that are about half the thickness of my regular ones. I put the dainty ones all along my hairline and my part. I dont want a ton of weight in those little baby hairs! :)
