  • Here is a short SUMMARY:
Jumping is more about PUSHING than pulling and speed!
    How to Jump:
1.conserve as much energy as possible, by keeping your extremeties almost STRAIGHT
2.Give your bike a confident PUSH at the top of the lip
    -First with your ARMS
    -then with your LEGS
    -dial in the TIMING
5 Common mistakes/ how to avoid them:
1.Bad Timing NOSEDIVE (pushing too late), work on your timing
2.Bad Timing HOP (both wheels leave the ground at the same time), coordinate the pushing right:
first push with your arms and then start pushing into your legs a little later
3.Bent Arms and Legs (soaking up the jump/ loosing hight), keep your extremeties almost straight
4.Pulling Up (too early), only start pulling up your bike:
when your hips have already reached their highest spot in the airtime phase
5.Being Jumped (passive/not in control), be mentally ready and take control
    2+4Tips
    2Mental Tips:
1.Visualize the Jump, if you can´t imagine it don´t do it!
2.Scale Down untill you feel comfortable and confident to do it and work you way up slowly!
    4Physical Tips:
1.Don´t ride clipped in, learn the proper technique on Flatpedals and then move on to Clipless Pedals!
2.Setup: your suspension has to be as hard and fast as possible and still be supple and slow enough to make riding roots, -rocks and absorbing hard landings comfortable!
3.Be one with your Bike: with body tension and clever coordination of your feed and arms, you will never loose your pedals again ( 06:03 )
4.Body Weight Position: takeoff - shift it slightly behind central, airtime - shift it into central, landing - shift it slightly noseheavy
You can conserve a lot of energy by riding with almost straight extremities, but you have to learn to ride down a trail and over a jump in a low position first.
So you can ride down safe and then work on the necessary much more nuanced balancing skills that are required if you ride upright!
When you are relaxed in the air and have your arms and legs straight, you are ready to start working on the first tricks.
    But only take calculated risks!
    Have Fun and enjoy Airtime!
