1. Iron - Energy 2. Probiotics - Digestion/Uti 3. Vitamin D- Mood/can help immune related issues (Vitamin D + K work well together) 4. Magnesium- Stress/Sleep 5. Vitamin K- Bones/heart health/your entire circulatory system 6. Boron - Hormone health 7. Zinc - Immunity & Skin 8. B-12- Brain/blood/energy/adrenal issues
I felt anemic for years, the Dr's checked the hemoglobin saying that it's up, yet the symptoms were real 😢. Then my heart started racing every time I got up. I finally got a Dr who would listen, and she checked my Ferritin levels as well as my vitamin D levels, which turned out both were extremely low. Which I was told either deficiency would give me these symptoms 17 years of suffering when I needed iron and vitamin D.
Both my husband and I are deficient in vitamin D, we take vitamin d3 (10,000 iu's) daily. Mine has taken a year to increase 74 from 14. I had to learn on my own that vitamin d2 didn't help at all. And I take magnesium to help as well. These doctors know what they are talking about, unlike modern medicine doctors nowadays.
There are several factors in reducing bad digestion quickly . One place I found which succeeds in merging these is the Marita bio pro (google it if you're interested) it's the most useful blueprint i've heard of. Check out all the extraordinary info .
For every 5000 iu D3 you need 180 mcg of K2. Pharmacist, physicians, etc are not trained on supplements....they are trained on how to prescribe drugs so you can be dependent on it for the rest of your life.
I am thriving with energy every day and I'm much older than you guys and I haven't eaten beef in more than 25 years but I do eat chicken every once in a while I eat fish every once in a while I eat pork, but I have an extremely balanced diet rich in organic greens and always eat fresh fruit ....and I wanted to mention I really love your videos Jordan Rubin, I understand you're trying to pass this information on ... I appreciate that but everything else you stand for Jordan I really think you are exceptionally knowledgeable and I fully support you.... keep it up.... (by the way I work in the field of natural healing for 26 years)
I was very sick, lethargic, and bloated for about a year, then I ordered some premade healthy meals from a local company, and I felt amazing. I wasn't sure what caused the difference until I saw the amount of protein in their food. I have been increasing my protein intake, and feeling much better, but here's my question, how much protein is too much. I'm glad to feel better, but I don't want to over do it either
My build is frail as a woman. I was following all standard health advice-mostly plant based-no processed foods and I'm convinced it almost killed me. My weight was so low. Hemoglobin of 7, declined mental function, no recovery after workouts or energy. Once I changed my diet, increase of iron/hemoglobin, I recover from my workouts and my mental outlook is so much better. I think frail people like myself suffer more from not having enough animal foods/proteins. Thank you both! Love this channel.
You are so right. I'm happy you recovered from failing health. When people are advised to follow a vegan diet it can be detrimental to one's health. Humans were intended to eat animal proteins and our bodies suffer without them. God bless you and stay healthy.
You must have been doing it wrong. Sorry you had that experience. Iron is not only in green leafy veggies. Peas like lentils and beans also have iron in it. Plus, you need vitamin C to absorb iron. Just cause you take it in does not mean your body is absorbing it properly. Especially if you have any gut issues. Ans working out does not give energy to someone who is iron deficient. That a silly idea. The only way to lose iron is through blood loss. So not taking in enough iron is not the problem, losing too much blood is. You could have resolved that by getting a one day treatment called an iron infusion. Also, iron bonds to dairy foods like milks, and results in malabsorbtion of iron. Most dont know this.
Omg! I just went to the dr to get my physical and my labs came back with hyperthyroidism, anemia and vitamin d deficiency. Thank you for uploading this video!
start following dr Izabella Wentz, if you suffer from hypothyroidism; the sooner you start following her, the better for your Health. For me it's been like day and night, since i started implementing tips from her book The Root causes of hashimoto's thyroiditis. She's researched and applied her tips on her self! She is healthy today.
Right (me too btw), however the thing is that 97% of all thyroid patients in the West are actually having the autoimmune version of hypothyroism, called Hashimoto's diesease. Had i known that at the time i was diagnosed, ít would have saved me some pain. Read dr. Izabella Wentz's page if you want, it's something like thethyroidpharmacist dot com, i Think. She too was diagnosed with hypothyrpoism at first. The conventional medicine is not the answer for ppl with any autoimmune disease, rather functional medicine is. This was a sincere advice; and please forgive me if i crossed the line in any way.
I really miss seeing the two of you do videos together, I am a great admirer of you both. Jordan, you were instruments as I began my journey to health as I also have suffered from Crohn’s disease. Josh, you have been helpful in building on the knowledge of keeping my body healthy. I appreciate you both. God bless you!
I started using organic wheat grass powder and it has 100 % of my vitamin k :) great video for women I'm also finding calcium magnesium before bed is helping me relax and sleep better and I've had chronic sleep issues and fatigue and brain fog so it's a good one
Thank you gentlemen! You’re so spot on!! I got lazy on my supplements you mentioned here and I got sick TWICE! Omg I know everything you’re saying works. So glad I found this video again to refresh me.
I have been iron deficient most of my life. I hate to contradict what you're saying but since I went on a plant-based diet I've had NO iron deficiencies.
You do learn this in School (College/University). The knowledge comes from Studying Nutrition and keeping up with the Medical Research like these 2 in the Video did for years.
Maybe because there are liquid sugar drinks in machines, some schools have available to students and staff. Both nutrition and vegetable gardening are basic, and should be just as important as math and English.
Cod liver, red meat, liver, kefir, seaweed, parsley, leafy green in bone broth, sauerkraut, kim chi,sun shine, salmon, eggs, organ meats, drinkable Epsom salt, cocoa, dark chocolate, vegemite, frozen spinach + cheese dishes, cranberry juice/cranberries,frozen berries and canned cherries, mackerel, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, tuna, chicken and beef bone broth,
Fantastic info. Good stepping off point to research on our own and learn as much as possible. My functional medicine MD found so many deficiencies in me, including Pernicious Anemia that you mentioned. I need to look into boron - I've never had it checked.
I am very interested to see what Dr.Axe has to say about helping people struggling with gastroparesis. A family member of mine is struggling to find ways to meet their nutritional needs because of this disease.
I'm a physical mess! In chronic pain for the last year. Use to be active. Now i just lay around because I'm in so much pain. This didn't run in my family. Need help
zinc, fat soluble vitamins, and probiotic has helped my skin and hair tremendously! 20% zinc oxide cream helped me a lot as well for my mood and skin. If your menopause thing and you take Centrum vitamin can you also take a B 12 vitamins. Because with the Centrum Vitamin . I still have low energy. If I can add B12 how much milligrams can I take. Also is this safe to take it if you take in high blood pressure pills as well?

Do these vitamins go together safely? Average and recommended dose on all I'm a 41 year old woman. Calcium, D3, Magnesium, vitamin c, K2, Biotin, folic acid, b12 and a probiotic. I take 20 mg of collagen as well and when on hand, bone broth protein powder. Thank you for your thoughts on this in advance!
Hey Jennifer! First, I encourage you to see your primary healthcare provider so they are best able to make personalized recommendations to fit your unique needs. You may find this helpful: draxe.com/nutrition/best-vitamins-for-women/?.
Has anyone found s good multi vitamin that would cover these 8 vitamins. I know I have a deficiency in almost every one of these vitamins. Not sure on the boron or zinc. My dr has suggested that I would take extra multi vitamin tablets and large dose of vitamin D. My lab work still is coming back very low on the vitamin D and B12.
My Daughter has been very ill for 2 years. 27 doctors numerous blood tests, Xrays etc later. She is still sick. Cannot digest her food and has major pain and bloating after a small amount of food plus cannot have bowel movement for days on end. The latest problem is that her blood test showed off the chart calcium levels. She eats all organic diet, liver, vegetables and fruits, salmon etc. she only drinks green teas and water. Will magnesium chelate help lower her calcium levels?????
Has she gotten her levels down? My calcium is/was high as well. It could be a few things, but none determined yet. But vitamin k2 is suppose to help with it.
Wow this is all such great information. I was anemic during my last pregnancy and am now realizing I’m probably lacking iron once again. I am one of those women who avoid red meats. Such low energy levels vs two kids. Help! Thank you!
Caffeine * (so coffee too as well as teas). Herbal teas without caffeine are fine. Also to increase iron absorption, taking vitamin C with iron rich foods. Xx
What about Potassium? I'm having lots of spasms and muscle cramps and have been under a lot of stress. I am taking all the other nutrients you mention in this video plus potassium. I am still having the spasms, cramps and can't stay asleep at night. It has been difficult to eliminate the stress completely and that isn't going to change anytime soon.
I did a lab test few weeks ago, my vitamin b12 was at 180. I got b12 shots once a week from my doc, which made my ferritin drop from 88 to 30. I read somewhere that there is a connection, could you explain the dance between iron and vitamin b 12? There is not much information online about that. My period just wouldnt come, I was three weeks late, then it started and stayed for 2 weeks. And shortly after that the cycle started again. I was on a plantbased diet for two years and I just recently started eating red meat and eggs again, which increased my energy level within a very short period of time. And what about coffee? Should we avoid it completely while building up ferritin? Or is a cup a day ok?
thank you Dr. Axe! I love your videos. God bless you for taking your time educating all viewers. We are meat eaters of course with moderation and doing well.
you take what you consider you need if something you believe is not good for your body chemistry just don't do it. Do your research what works best for you.
What is the use of eating plant foods when the soil is depleted of the nutrients that is necessary for my anemia defieciency? I eat spinach, kale, peas, lettuces that are truly green. I drink milk but only the free range cow kind. I also take vitamins D, B12, full spectrum enzymes for women from Dr. Mercola. And I still have problems with stress and recovery time. I am thinking about returning ti my exercise routine. Please provide me with a good Vit complex for my enemia problems. Thank you. My age is 76.
so so thankful to these two for acknowledging us women and our soooo basic probs that rarely people talk about them , sad that we suffer so much but little has been done about it,thank u, we try to heal on our own with ur advice🤗🤗
For those of you who have problems with red meat, there are tons more foods that are rich in iron such as spinach and other leafy greens. Just do your research and find the foods you like :) very helpful video, thanks for posting!
This is an informative video and I am a fan of Dr. Axe. I didn’t know this was a previous ‘live stream’ where Dr. Axe was using his phone to interact with viewers. So, it became funny watching his guest talk while Dr. Axe spends so much time looking at his phone. Throughout the video he keeps saying “Yea” and “Absolutely”. Those replies seem rushed and dismissive. Doc didn’t have time for this video! Ha-ha! All in good fun. (Once I noticed the constant random “YEAS”, I laughed each time). Thanks for the info and laughs.
Si Wu Tang as a Chinese herb is a good idea for anemia, as it is considered a "blood builder" in Chinese medicine. It's helped me. But ask a holistic practitioner first!!
Is it a health issue you're having? Iodine isn't mentioned in the video, but it's an important nutrient for many things and many people are deficient (women more than men). For years and years I had irregular periods, but if I'm taking iodine every day, I've experienced "to the day" regularity with my period, it's also lighter and shorter. You should be able to find more info online if you need to, one doctor who uses iodine with his patients is Dr. David Brownstein.
Thank you so much for this really wonderful information! 😁👍 And thanks for their encouragement especially at the end that I can look for the something good changing in me (that the bad news can be good news).😊 I've struggled to figure out how I can get healthier it while on a very low income...Any tips? I think there's a lot of lower income people that do probably feel discouraged because a lot of the things that would help us get better cost a lot more. But I can see that if I just try my very best and eliminate bad stuff that it could help at least.😉
Thank You, I needed this information I’ve been Experiencing dizziness and started on Iron tablets recently. So thanks again I’ll also add the vitamins you mentioned.
There are 2 types of Iron Heme Iron and Non heme iron. Plants have non heme iron, Animals have heme Iron. Humans cannot absorb non heme plant iron nearly as well as heme iron from meat. Red meat has the best absorb-able heme iron for humans .
I have low ferritin levels. But not anemic. I started taking your organic b complex. Can I still take my iron supplement? I'm also taking Vit D with K1 and K2. Also my Magnesium RBC is 5.2 is this good level? But I have a lot of magnesium deficiency symptoms. Can I still take magnesium supplement?? I will appreciate your reply thanks!
Potassium..I almost died a few weeks ago because of low potassium. Dr said my heart could have just stopped,. Had to have 4 bags of potassium in an iv plus potassium and magnesium tablets. And, I never had a leg cramp.
You two are a gem!! Thank you for helping us so much with our food!! My only concern is that I am a vegetarian n I need more vegetarian counterparts of the non- veg suggestions you give!!
Thank you for posting this! I have struggled with low iron for decades and heavy periods. The reason I stop my supplements is due to the same reasons you mentioned. I guess more steaks it is! 💪🏼👍🏼
1. Iron - Energy

A pharmacist told me that i should be cautious about taking Vit K because it thins tbe blood

If you are anemic, it could be that you drink tea which will reduce your absorption of iron.

For those of you who have problems with red meat, there are tons more foods that are rich in iron such as spinach and other leafy greens. Just do your research and find the foods you like :) very helpful video, thanks for posting!
We know that already.
