The Ford 289 has one of the best bore to stroke combos ever made by an auto manufacter. I miss this sound.... reminds me of my 67 mustang. I loved taking it out on back roads. Sadly though, emissions standards came a long and killed a little engine that could. Thanks for the video....... still a very nice memory,

The 289 is an often overlooked engine choice because of it's small displacement, but it sounds fantastic and performs/reacts very well with some decent mods. @CJ-xx5msnope, superformance/A/C cars. Factory Fives have a flatter rear window, and dont look quite right….you can see the A/C cars ltd all over the place also.

@@dasboot9471 - It wasn't finished at all. Shelby made up a story that it was in an accident on the way to Le Mans and was wrecked. Peter Brock later told the true story that showed the car never received the many parts it need to be completed.

Yeah and ferrari sounds like a toy engine as well.
It's just the size of the cylinder that influences the noise.
You guys are moving into plugin cars soon anyway.

Certanly the original 6 coupes are not "Ford" cars per se, however Shelby was contracted by Ford to design and manufacture 6 cars so that they could compete in FIA championship races. Ford backed and financed whole deal.

In 1968, I was offered a chance to buy one of these cars. They wanted $12,000 delivered in Baltimore. Sadly that was out of my price range. Plus I had very little Ford experience. Instead, I bought a used Sting Ray to go to driver's school.
