You can take the kwi tool and re-attach the plate and cap bolts and a bolt or rod in the side to hold the primary and torque the clutch bolt. That's how I've done it. Good video
Great video brother . I’m getting ready to install my PDrive Primary on my 2022 base DS 120 X3. Just picked up a new torque wrench and my primary puller came in the other night .
@@Aspenoffroad awesome video! Intrigued to find out what you had found out, far as I researched it looks like that is the only fix for this issue. My secondary loves to spin right along with my primary, assuming that was the issue that you had. Mines a 22 with 800 miles on it & I believe its toast.
@Joshua Smeal On mine the belt vibrations caused by the imperfect OEM machine work of all sheaves was bad enough to wear the bearing inner face washer away within 15mi of riding. I sent it to KWI for the float mod and it's been perfect ever since. Perfectly aligned. I did verify the oem sheaves were at least 0.015" warped on all surfaces.
Wow that’s all crazy . I’m at 1,052 miles and mines fine on my 2022 DS 120 . My PDrive install went fine and no codes thrown or anything . Took a first mountain trip ride last weekend and everything is working as it should . PDrive is much quieter and smoother and quicker engaging , however it did seem to take away some of the 120s “punchiness” for lack of better description.
Oh yes. It's awesome. I mic-ed the sheaves before they left and both had significant issues. KWI really smoothed the engament off idle and perfectly centered the belt. Several rides later and no problems changing gears anymore.
hi Elliot, the primary clutch bearing that you disassembled in this video only rotates in one direction ??. the bearing acts as a brake on the downhill engine exactly??, could you tell me the diameter of the shaft where the bearing is mounted and the dimensions of the bearing? can I leave you or write you an email ??..thanks Leonardo
I'd have to take it all apart to get those dimensions, that's not happening unless I have a need. The bearing can rotate in both directions but it only needs to spin in one direction, and only then when the secondary clutch is not spinning. It's primary function is to allow the secondary clutch to not be driven at idle speeds to allow gear changes.
My son’s belt broke and he recently put on a new one and it slipped off too, any recommendations as to what could be the problem ? Interesting video thank you !
I'm a little confused, are you asking the length of the bolts I used to hold the primary still to torque? Or the length of the actual primary bolt that threads into the trans shaft?
@@Aspenoffroad sorry, I was asking specifically about the bolts used to hold the primary while u used the pry bar to torque down. If you had the length and what size they were to fit the threads.
@@dcsann I had those bolts from a Craftsman pulley puller kit. No idea the size or threads. However, the bolts in the QRS primary splitter kit from KWI would also work.
Additional update. It's still an issue. Appears the OEM misalignment or warping of the belt surfaces has killed that inside washer in about 25mi of running. Update when it comes back from KWI for the float mod.
@@Aspenoffroad thanks for the reply, I found it after.....Kluber Isoflex....listed on the BRP website in the exploded diagrams....in case anyone else asks.
Dude. so this video is top notch - I'm no mechanic but I think this is achievable for me. One stupid question - I blew up a belt at 80MPH and shot it out the inside cover. 2020 X3 RS Turbo R. I'm going to replace the covers and do the bearing and service kit (not the rebuild) while im in there. Everything Looks similar on mine - but is it? Is there anything I need to know about doing my RS Turbo R vs. your model? Any input helps.
All the "QRS" clutches from 2018 to 2021 are the same. Even the secondary clutch on the 22 and 23 models are the same. I've heard there may be different weights in there but the service will be done the same way. Thanks.
Thanks mate, great video showing exactly what I was looking for without all the b.s, keen to watch your other vids now. Good look'n pup! Cheers 🍻
Thanks for taking the time to share this, guys! 😉
Thanks! I believe in the future I'll have Bill as the camera man to catch more of our usual banter.

Glad you enjoy it!

How did you put the clutch back together? Was it from when you just torqued it back on? I don’t have to squish back together with a tool? 18:56

I still had a bearing issue. Decided on KWI float mod to solve oem issues. I'll post about that soon, hopefully.

@Joe Kearney I believe the quality of the Pdrive is higher and less prone to wear. Glad to hear it's working well.
Any idea what size those bolts were that you threaded into the primary while reinstalling to have leverage to tighten?
Would changing this bearing fix not shifting out of high
If this bearing is seized (spinning with the primary instead of independent) it will make all shifts from and to any gear difficult or grind.
any update after returning from KWI after the float mod?

Thanks. Hard to say what might be causing that issue without seeing it.
What size bolts did you use on the primary length and where m6 ? Thx

How is running after you replaced it?
Its been great, way less noise and much smoother shifting.

I have the same tires, i love them
Harbor Freight UTV Jack is great for the price❤Use it in my X3 max and my Rzr

Hi, what kind of bearing grease did you use and what are good substitutes?
I'm not sure the exact grease is really important as long as it's thick and put in conservatively. Don't want any grease on the belt.
