Jessica Bouma I have about 4-5 voice recorders that's broke and what to get the files I want to be able to hear the @t know how a pc gets broke and you have things on a pc but you need whatever that's on it. It's the same way I want whats on my recorders.If I can send the broke recorders to a company that can get the files off of it and put it on something to where I can hear it and make copies ??

Great review but you forgot something which is very important, sony has an internal lithium battery and only brings 7 hours using maximum quality wav at 24bits 96khz, if some person wants to record like me an entire rock festival I would need a powerbank at least to charge the internal battery and other big problem with the sony that is only capable to record in wav quality to the internal memory instead of using the microsd card this could be for security reasons because most of MICROSD cars are junk.
The Sony does have an SD slot, and the power bank is a good solution it’s around 5 bucks. I’ve recorded 300+ shows and the microphones of the Sony are 10x times better than the zoom one, the Zoom microphones are cheap and poor quality, just my opinion.

I’m looking to get a recorder , to capture some of my song ideas and also I wanted to start a mini podcast for fun, with a handheld recorder. I previously had the zoom h4n, I thought it was great although a little bulky , now they released it in black.

I absolutely love how small the pcm is but I wanted to know which wins , and by how much . They’re both about the same price
Sony Icd Sx733, 734 or Sx1000 is way better than any of these, it might be older than the 2000 but the microphones quality is far superior. Best Sony recorders in my opinion, even better than some “PCM recorders”.
Go for the Sony if you don’t need the xlr inputs of the zoom.

Will the Sony allow you to record one mic as a safety track? It would be nice when the mics are flipped to interview direction.
As far as I can tell, it does not allow you to make a safety track. There is a limiter that automatically lowers loud noises that you can enable. I doubt they are analog limiters, though.

Can you help me on choose one n these mics or an audio recorder like the zoom H1, I'm musician and I need something to record good audio quality but lightweight and not so expensive. The video is going to be catched with the phone, but don't know what option is better to acoustic spanish guitar and singing.

Can you record into the mic in 3.5mm stereo jack from a soundboard with a 3.5mm cable?
the 3.5mm inputs are mic, not line in, so you can connect to the soundboard, but you need to turn your output and input levels way down to compensate.

You need to turn the output from the soundboard low and the input gain low on the recorder. You can also take the headphone output on the mixer to the recorder.

You do not want to use auto gain, unless it's for a scratch track. Auto gain is typically too unpredictable to rely on for professional use. You can enable limiters, which is sort of like auto gain, but the Zoom and Sony do not have analog limiters, they are digital, which means if your levels get too high, they will blow out.
Sony is interesting but Zoom is better
This is 2x the price as the zoom H1.

For basic audio recording, I'd say they are equal. I would still get SX2000, because I like all the extra features and pro additions.
It’s a really basic model and the microphones are not for live shows or music, this one is designed for a professional use, you would have to adapt an external mic to get an acceptable quality on yours and still wouldn’t be any close to the icd2000.

Sorry @@VideoGizmology I thought you were using a DSLR... I looked on UA-cam and google and there seems to be quite a literature of methods on how to eliminate the dust in your camera... which seems particularly plagued by it as most of extending zoom lenses are... as they suck air in at each movement.

My technical semantics are informal and uneducated. I use the words resolution/quality as synonyms. Sorry for the confusion. I most likely meant quality both times, not resolution, because I wasn't comparing the exact resolution settings neck to neck.
