Hi everyone, I wanted to share a few thoughts on my discussion of Jeepers Creepers. Please know there’s no judgment here for anyone who enjoys the franchise-I loved the first film too. At 09:05, I touch on how the industry is full of problematic figures, and its a hard conversation because so many people work on these films. I completely respect everyone’s personal boundaries and choices regarding certain creators or films. Jeepers Creepers is simply one example of a franchise that is STILL GOING that stirs these feelings for me, and I wanted to share that candidly.
Regardless of people's feelings about Jeepers Creepers, films with these themes from a filmmaker who was a victim, then a predator, and then rehabilitated are of significant artistic and cultural value... and I have lost friends and followers over the years for sharing that fact.
I recently rewatched my copy of Powder, which he directed (I didn't know this until I started watching) and watching it knowing what he did gives the slow pans over the bodies of characters who are supposed to be wards of the state is really repulsive. I couldn't finish it.
@@rosiealma4276 The intent of that was to express the emotional state of the main character who spent his life imprisoned and was experiencing humanity for the first time, it was intended as a spiritual experience, not as perverse regardless of how well that actually came across, If you read "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" you'ld understand what he was going for...
That's an understandable one. It's a problem which crosses into the ability to separate art from the artist, though many seem to ignore what views the art is expressing or how closely it may depict the artist's morality. To not watch Jeepers Creepers (going forward) is a moral choice, which is certainly different to what one would usually expect from such a list. It's certainly an understandable decision given what you know (which I was unaware of).
You are a VERY important person, unlike your comment to the contrary. I’m a 66 year old man, retired twice from jobs in music education. I immediately search to see if you or “Possessed by Horror” have posted any videos. Your commentary is wonderfully eloquent and very well thought out. Thank you for doing what you’re doing. I wanted to let you know how varied your audience is and how much I appreciate you helping me to decide whether I’ll watch a horror movie or not. Maybe our paths will cross if I’m ever in Australia, but that’s highly unlikely. I seem to be stuck here in Kentucky, USA! LOL
Just hearing the name Junko Furuta gives me chills and makes me sad. I'm not a religious person, but if there is a Heaven, she is a Queen up there. Rest In Peace. And the same goes for Sylvia Likens, they were too good for this world.
Yes, Junko's case is just straight up horryfying. I watched a lot of disturbing films like martyrs, serbian film, human centipede franchise and so on but I refuse to watch any of the movies about her case. I considered watching juvenile crime once, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided to give up on that movie
I think the thing that’s most devastating about Junko’s case, other than the crime itself obviously, is that her murderers got off with zero consequences. Not only that, but the poor angel’s grave was desecrated after her death by the mother of one of the perpetrators. It’s beyond infuriating and just adds even more horror and disgust to the situation. Creating exploitative media around a girl who has already been exploited to the fullest extent a human can possibly be isn’t just in poor taste, it’s positively abhorrent. I’m someone who is very outspoken about freedom of art and expression but when it comes to real life use a fraction of discretion yknow?
@@iamjackspyramidshapedhelmet Junko's mother went to the house with police when it was going on, and they didn't properly search the house. After everything, she knew she could have rescued her. She needed therapy after that, Shame on those police.
This is my first time hearing about Junko. I'm glad this video exists because not only does it help warn people of the disturbing content, but it also raises awareness for the real life crime. More people will know her name now. I made the mistake of watching An American Crime, and if Junko's case is anything like Sylvia's I definitely won't be watching Concrete. Those poor girls.
When you brought the last one up i kinda broke down . I understand what you went through , My wife is fighting that battle now and its the hardest thing you could imagine .
Hi Emma! Wow what a very different video from you. I know you disclaimed this was with a twist, but this was so personal and vulnerable for you….especially toward the end. I found your comment about being desensitized by horror films, but sensitive to the ones that really hit home, or have content you have not conquered emotionally very interesting. This truth/reveal is very personal and obviously still fresh. Thank you for your candidness and willingness to share something so painful. Prayers of strength, healing, and peace when that memory resurfaces. Please keep up the marvelous work…you are one of my favorite content creators all time! “stay spooky!” Aloha Friend!
My mom got cancer in 2020 (she’s in remission now!) and I strangely gravitate towards cancer stories. Even though they are sometimes devastating it makes me feel less insane(?) for all my emotions during that time.
Thank you for being so vulernable with us. You talking about Gromit brought tears to my eyes. I lost my Rosie girl last May and I don’t think I'll ever move on from it. I'll choose to believe Rosie and Gromit are somewhere together playing fetch and running through meadows. Sending you love 💖
It's really not worth the fuss that people made about it. It's just a bad movie made for nothing but the shock value. If you want something equally or perhaps even more disturbing with good acting and a story, that makes you think, watch the original, french "Martyrs".
The guy from "Ain't it cool news" actually liked the film and had a pretty good description of it. "The IDEA of what you're watching is worse than what you actually see onscreen."
I deeply resonated with the losing your loved one point of view. Movies are in fact can be sorrowful reminders of the pain and heartache we have been through and we simply don’t need that (at least for a while). Not only every movie is not for everyone but every movie is not for every period of our lives too.
I’m the same way about tearjerker movies…even a film like “Marley and Me”. Life can and is depressing enough, you go to entertainment for the distraction…not be reminded of it
I dont have many movies on my won't watch list but as a child of a battered woman I will never sit through Martyrs again. One of the only movies I've ever watched that made me physically ill.
First off, you are glowing!! Secondly, I love how your videos have been evolving even more into these heart-to-heart conversation-style pieces. Your topic choices have been extra awesome lately-- thank you so much!
I was an ignorant child and was at a friend’s house and she turned it on without any warning or indication of what would happen. I’m still scarred from that over 30 years later and to this day I refuse to watch a movie involving dogs or horses.
I agree with you about the Jeeper Creepers franchise, what he did was absolutely vile and it is disgusting that he could continue to work in movies after that.
you explained what i have been trying to put into words forever so easily! horror is kinda my escapism from the horrors of the real world too. anything TOO real like sad stories like “we live in time” i can’t do 😭
Nitram. I haven't seen it. I love Australian True Crime Horror. You guys have that genre nailed. I loved Jeepers Creepers. I must have seen it 5 times. You're not missing anything with JP II. I didn't know either. I have one that if it's not on your list, maybe it should be. German 2009, Melancholie der Engel.
As a dog lover (and owner) I could never watch a movie where the dog dies 😢 I am in my mid thirties and realize that it’s just a movie, but even so, if this was in the premise, I am out 🐕
Thank you for making and sharing this video! It takes bravery to “reveal” what subject matters you feel could show your vulnerabilities. I try to avoid movies that focus on degradation of people/animals, or suffering children, or certain mental health related movies. It is interesting that some I-will-not-watch-films, may not be as “bad” as I think, but I’ll never know, because I’ll never watch them. A few of my will-not-watch films are “Graveyard of the Firefies,” “The Snowtown Murders,” and “Joker.” Your videos on disturbing movies are a great resource for more movies that I plan to NOT watch. Have you done a “Movies I’ve Seen, But Will Never Watch Again” video? It’s in a similar vein to this. For example: I will never again watch the movie “Kids” or “Bully.”
Because I live in Michigan I know a little about the Jeepers Creepers backstory. It's inspired on a real event in 1990 with Dennis DePue that took place in Coldwarer, Michigan. The writer/director added A LOT but the opening scene is almost exactly what was on Unsolved Mysteries regarding the case a decade prior.
As you get older you realise that real life can be far more terrifying and horrific than what happens in movies. Jeepers Creepers is good and I think the UM influence was just the beginning with the sheet and the couple driving past and making words out of licence plates. Again, the true story is far more disturbing.
I had no idea about Jeepers Creepers, so thank you. The way you talked about it and us knowing you really are a true horror fan, like most of us that watch your videos, shows what kind of person you are, much respect 🫶🏼
With Jeepers Creepers I find it hard not to rewatch the first one every now and then because its so nostalgic for me. But wont watch any of the newer ones. I try to avoid war films because they are too real and distressing!
yeah same, it was one on my first horror movies and i love the character, it's easier to not watch any of the other movies though cause they are all worse than the first one and in the 2nd one the director really wears more of his sickness on his sleeve considering the creeper is preying on a bus of shirtless schoolboys
I have tried to, but never been able to watch “The Plague Dogs (1982)” even though is an animated movie, as an animal lover it is really hard for me to watch it.
I relate so much to your thoughts on being sensitive to things that hit close to home. I love horror and have been delving into disturbing movies, but things that handle real world grief or tragedy are just too much!
Thank you for deciding to post this! Very informative and intriguing video, especially since you pretty much watch everything lol. Always love hearing your input. Thanks again Emma 🫶🏼
I've said it on here before but ' When the Wind Blows' gets me every time . I've managed to watch it twice since it's release . The most disturbing thing is the fact it was shown one Christmas like it was a kids film ! Great video Emma as always .
Totally understand your last entry! THE FAULT IN OUR STARS and A WALK TO REMEMBER are two like that I refuse to watch. I’d rather watch a TERRIFIER marathon or all of TAKASHI MIIKE’s filmography than movies about loss ( I don’t handle grief well at all 😰).
wow I had no idea about the writer/director of the Jeepers Creepers series, not sure how I missed that! Thank you for talking about it and bringing some awareness to it.
Thank you for this video! It feels comforting to know even you have limitations when it comes to horror, since I often feel embarrassed about mine as a highly sensitive person 🙏❤️
Oh, and another suggestion: Der Todesking (Death King) - a German extremely disturbing film exploring a few stories from Berlin. It's extremely icky and dark. I think the Director, who is also from Berlin, put a very personal stamp on this one.
I've watched most of these, but I can see why people would avoid them: First They Kill My Father- This is a documentary filmed through the eyes of a ten year old as she goes through the Cambodian War. This film was HARD to sit through, (the grenade scene, in particular, got me emotionally), but very informing about a war that is barely talked about. This is like Schindler's List, important to watch once but yeah, you ONLY want to watch just once. Children of Nobody- One of the darkest/realistic Korean crime shows focused on child abuse and how children often do not get justice through the law or foster care system. I will say, the topic is handled very carefully and the message is VERY important to consider, however you only want to watch just once. (This is NOT a normal KDrama at all, I consider it a thriller/crime show) Save Me Season 1 (2017) (Korean Thriller/Drama)- THIS SHOW I REFUSE TO WATCH. Save Me is about a Korean cult trying every method possible to break the female lead. It is sixteen episodes long, and Idk if I can emotionally handle that one.. (I also heard that the actress had to go through a lot of therapy to get over some of the subject matter tackled in this show) The Family Game (2013) This is about a Japanese tutor exposing and destroying an average Japanese family. The kids go through a lot of trauma, and I don't think ends justify the means. I watched it, but never again.
Based on your descriptions, I definitely have zero desire to watch Salo, and probably will take a long while to work up the courage to watch some of the Gaspar Noe movies you’ve talked about, but I did watch the coffee table and The Skin I live in based on your descriptions just recently. Coffee table couldn’t decide what it wanted to be (started out as a black comedy with great potential) but basically once the wife gets home from the store it goes too serious and I didn’t enjoy the second half much. The Skin I Live In, however, WOW what a movie. Messed up in so many ways but just so well done. I loved that one and will definitely watch it again. I knew your tastes would be similar to mine since you said you liked The Killing of A Sacred Deer. that one is a 10/10 best of all time movie for me. Although few Yorgos Lanthimos fans agree that is his best work, for my money nothing he’s done is THAT amazingly well done, except maybe Dogtooth and Kinds of Kindness.
I don't know you, but based on what you said, I would highly suggest you follow your gut and avoid Irreversible. There are 2 scenes that are almost impossible to watch without looking away. Just beyond horrific.
Salo is really not a big deal. It's a sh@t-eating film with some slight gore at the end. But I whole-heartedly agree about Irreversible. I won't ever watch that again.
@@riffgroove zero desire to watch it more because it doesn’t seem interesting to me, not only because of the messed up stuff. But also because of the messed up stuff
It pretty much became common knowledge in the horror film community about what Salva did after Jeepers Creepers hit home media back in the early 2000s. That's why I was surprised that people acted like they didn't know when his past got kicked up again a couple of years ago.
Totally get you about We Live In Time. I was initially excited about the project when it was announced but when I found out more…yeah no way I’m putting myself through that 😩
Not everyone collectively wondering what you said under the black censor bar right now haha....I watch Synecdoche New York once a year because it's amazing but at the same time it's so devastating that I need recovery time afterward. And after every time I watch I ask myself, "Why did I just do that to myself?"
Loads of love from Chile, Emma! I love your work. Actually, I have an Excel with ALL your recomendations, and change the color of the movies when I watch them. I felt for you when you cried on the video. Sometimes these movies can move us in some ways we are not prepared. Thank you for all you do for us, and as some of the people on the comments say: you are a very important person!
The one movie I will never go back to is Requiem for a Dream. I like f'd up movies. I think Martyrs is a masterpiece. I cheer on Art the Clown. There is something about Requiem that simply gets under my skin in a way I don't like. Also, spot on with your take on Jeepers Creepers.
Im so sorry about your friend. I have a really difficult time with any films that deal with suicide, i lost my brother that way. Ok ive siggested this before and its not based on a real case obviously. The Trouble with Being Born was banned from several film festivals. It asks really difficult and frankly horrific questions about artificial intelligence and robots. It'a a downer for sure but i found value in it as art. Also its a female director
The first two Jeepers Creepers films are great and the rest of the cast and crew deserve to have their work enjoyed. John Breck's performance as the Creeper alone deserves to be remembered and celebrated
I have a couple similar to you about the last film: Boys Don't Cry, 12 Years A Slave, The Green Mile and Roots. Slavery and films that I know are going to make me upset I just avoid. I also stay away from films made by Marian Dora and Seed from Uwe Boll. I've been unfortunate enough to sit through stuff like one of the August Underground films as well as Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, and no desire to revisit anything similar to those. As for Jeepers Creepers, you're not missing much in my opinion. After the first film, none of them are worth watching in my opinion. Maybe I'd be in favor of a franchise reboot once Victor Salva has kicked the bucket.
Totally respect your reasons for not seeing certain films. When it comes the The Farewell though, a big portion of the movie is really quite funny and hopefully one day you'll be able to watch it! I'm with you on Jeepers Creepers. I saw the Fathom Events screening of Part 3 and it was one of the worst films I've ever sat through, just completely unwatchable.
My refusals all have to do with dogs and child abduction. When I see a trailer even with the hint of a dog or a child going missing, I absolutely refuse to put myself through that.
You aren't missing out, it isn't even shocking because of how over the top it is. I don't regret watching it ONLY because I was with my bff and we were able to laugh it off, but it's garbage
I've never heard of these other movies except for Jeepers Creepers, i have seen the first two, but i had no idea the director was a nasty, vile piece of work.
You are so real for this especially the last one! Even if the theme of a movie isn’t disturbing doesn’t mean it can’t be soul crushing and you really have to be in the right frame of mind to want to be emotionally destroyed. There’s so many good ones I don’t want to watch just because I don’t want the sad plot on my mind like Dear Zachary, Dancer in the Dark, or Grave of the Fireflies.
I am the same with emotional films, I lost one Grandma just before Christmas in 2022 and the other one January this year. I cant handle anything to do with loss and grief right now
one movie that traumatized me forever was" Garage Olimpos" about the victims of the Pinochet era in Argentina..I dont need to ever watch it again because its forever etched into my mind & based on real events ,which were even more horrific..😵😵😰
Anything that includes animal violence is a tough watch for me. Even though I liked "The house that Jack built" as a whole, that one scene with duckling almost made me cry. I sincerely hope it was not real
Completely agree. The reason I enjoy horror movies is because 'fear' isn't something I experience very often which makes the movies an escape. Whereas movies that deal with grief, illness and death, loss of loved ones etc is something I've experienced a lot and also still experience a lot while I'm at work (I work in a hospital) so I couldn't think of anything less relaxing and enjoyable than watching a movie about it. I also completely agree with the Jeepers Creepers thing too. I watched the first one when it came out then never watched the others after I found out about the director. Yes I'll watch people get killed by monstrous creatures on film and I love gorey movies, but I do have moral standards that I bring into the real world.
People knew about Victor before the 2000’s. I remember they made the biggest deal about it in 94 or 95 before the movie Powder came out. That’s probably why it wasn’t big news when he continued to make movies. It was already waaaay OUT in the news previously. It was no secret before Jeepers Creepers.
Mayyyybe I'm petty, but some of the "scariest horror movie you will EVER watch" lists on tiktok i.e. Meghan is Missing, Veronica...maybe because the concepts never grasp at me either but any viral movie like that I tend to just watch recaps. And SA revenge/movies with SA as a central theme....for many reasons but also Irréversible just did it in such a way that I never want to see it again lol
As someone who has gone through all kinds off personal loss and ups and downs i couldn't think of cutting myself off from artistic cinema just because the subject matter hits close to home. Some of my favorite movies and shows hit really close to home but tell their stories so well that they cant be ignored. One that hits really close to home for me is Reservation Dogs, that first season leading up to the obvious yet not out right spoken reveal of daniels passing hits so close to home it hurts every time i see it but the show is so well written and performed that i can't help but love it
Thanks for sharing this topic with us, Emma. I totally agree with your feelings on Jeepers Creepers. Having seen both the second and third film in the series, I can say that you are missing nothing. The first one is a standout, but no reason to see any more. Heck, I never saw the film "Powder" which the director made in 1995. Due to the disturbing content of "The Human Centipede" series and the heartbreak of "A Dog's Purpose" series, those films I know I can't watch. I've seen films with similar content, and they broke me mentally and emotionally years ago.
Oooooh would you consider doing an entire list based around movies inspired or based off true crime? I’m a very big fan of horror (of course that’s why I’m here) and serial killer cases, so I’d love to find some really disturbing new movies to watch as I’m just starting to get into the extreme side of things! 🖤🔪
Not the focus of this video I know but honestly, The Farewell is actually a heartwarming film, I think the endind and the overall message is very life affirming, even dealing with the subject of death, because of a minor plot twist revealed at the end
I've had "Come and see" sitting in my shelf for some weeks now and couldn't bring myself to watch it, yet. I am still unsure if I ever will, because right now I don't expect it to tell me something about war I didn't understand yet.
I've seen that film and it's definitely disturbing subject matter and ultimately very sad. Although it's tastefully done and it isn't graphic per se, it's the sheer psychological weight of it that got me. And not to mention that the antagonists are children (along with that evil c*** of a woman) 🤬
Thank you for this video! I feel the same, horror films are an escape for me where I can deal with challenging subjects with an (all be it heightened) layer or removal from reality. Some dramas are truly more disturbing to me and sneak in close with realism to just take me out. Thank you for all your awesome videos 🙏
There has never been a film I couldn't finish, until The Coffee Table, in which a new dad accidentally unalives his newborn son. I had a genuine panic attack 35 minutes in, and turned it off. It brought back all the memories of my absolutely debilitating post partum anxiety. It was labelled a dark comedy!
I refuse to re-watch A Marriage Story. Recently divorced with 2 kids, that will break me. I also struggle with Aftersun. A couple movies that just hit way too close to home, for me.
My girlfriend and I listen to episodes of the podcast "Let's Read." After I had the misfortune to hear the episode about Junko Furuta, I told the gf, do not listen to this. I wish I had never heard it and I cannot even tell you what it's about because just knowing will make your life worse. "The Girl Next Door" also left me staring at the wall in despair. I don't know why anyone would want to make or watch these films. The world is full of awful things. Knowing about them just makes life harder to face.
I'd never watch Concrete either. I ingest a lot of true crime via podcasts, videos, books etc. and Junko's case was the first that made me break down sobbing hearing about what they did to her. I couldn't handle seeing it recreated.
Jeepers Creepers has influenced much of my relationship with the horror genre. I saw it as an eight year old and it scared me so much that I just continued to watch it growing up to see if it maintained that effect on me and I grew to love it. Obviously I didn’t know about the creator until I was an adult, but how do I retroactively dislike material that had become so nostalgic to me? I choose not to support any current or future work, but I struggle with continuing to enjoy the first and second films. It’s interesting how people who have worked on things can so easily disrupt a meaningful experience someone has had as an audience member by being such a despicable person. I do second the Creeper being interesting and wanting more lore for it, it just sucks that there’s no way to get that without supporting a scumbag.
Salo is pretty disturbing but the metaphor of the fascists loving to eat sht and insisting that everyone else does the same is too funny to me, gives it a bit of levity
Oh God... if you ever feel like "ugly-crying" during a film, that one will do it. I visited Japan last year and made a point of visiting the Hachiko shrine outside Shibuya station.
Good for you! I wish more people stood up and spoke out against CSA. Why would we fill the pockets of someone who abused his power and caused serious trauma to so many young actors?!
Hi love, I completely understand you on the last movie, I have always been most disturbed by movies such as “A Star Is Born”, “Marley and Me” or “La La Land”. Horror is my favorite genre, and the tragic rom-coms just hit me so viscerally and I steer clear of them. I hear you and I see you. 🤍
Amazing topic! I love those kind of videos. And for you I was especially interested to see whats breaks you :D I never watched Jeepers Creepers and wont ever cover it.
any movie that centers around a dog’s bond with its owner or deals with its death somehow. WHY would i put myself through that? i teared up just writing this comment 😭
Emma when a list of your favorite comfy, warm movies to watch with a cup of chocolate for a change? I know it's not what your channel is usually about but you deserve a little break from horror and disturbing stuff :)
just when I thought...this girl can eat razorblades for breakfast with a smile...you drop the jeeprs-creepers bomb...Good on you my Lady..!! you earned my respect
Regarding what you said about "The Farewell", I have a movie that I can't watch because of what I went through at the time. 2007's "The Bucket List" was a decent enough film about doing and saying everything that you need to before it's too late . Unfortunately, my mom just happened to get very sick and pass away just two months before it was released. I went to see it in a theatre with a good friend, and I thought I would be fine, even with the themes and events in the film. However, maybe a half hour before the end, this sweet elderly woman a row away from us in the auditorium started crying. The woman's daughter apologized to us and explained that her father, the woman's husband, had recently passed away. Then, it was all over for me, as I started bawling as well. It was mortifying for me, but I finally got my composure as the movie was ending.
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About his Father is the most disturbing, heart wrenching film that I have ever seen. I have to fight back the tears even just writing the name.
WE LIVE IN TIME WAS SO GOOD! I did only cry once though in the middle. By the end youve gone the way she did. In those seven stages. I think the fact that it jumps around everywhere prevents you from the sob of sobs
Speaking of sad films, I will never ever watch All of Us Strangers again. I knew it was about parental loss going into it and still decided to torture myself (I lost my mum when I was 15) and oh my god I've never sobbed like that in a cinema (and then outside the cinema, and on the bus home...) before. I find films that focus on mother-daughter relationships really hard to watch, even if they aren't sad, for example certain scenes in Mamma Mia are difficult, so I'm also not sure if watching We Live In Time is a good idea!! Great video as always Emma
Oh my God. All of Us Strangers destroyed my soul, and I related a lot to it being a gay man myself - it's a beautiful, gorgeous movie, but I was sobbing the entire time - I don't think I'll be watching it again any time soon.
Loved this. Others for the pile Martyrs (French), Belladonna of Sadness. As you also want to bawl your eyes out try My Mister. Has Lee Sun Kyun from Parasite who is his own rabbit hole of realm life horror and how good people don't get the right karma. My Mister is banal every day horror, but throughout people being nice. One of the best things I've ever watched.
What I can't bare in horror movies is rape and children or animals torture. This is too much for me for sure. Also when the movie is clearly mysogin. So sorry again for Gromit, I know it takes years to overcome the pain of loosing a dog, dog is too small of a name for our best friends on 4 legs.
Another great show, so sorry to hear about your friend, I know how that can carry on in your life, the movie, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest, is one I won’t watch again, on a personal note of mental illness in my family and how some agencies deal with it, take care
Actually one reason I watch your channel is because you talk about all the movies I can't/won't watch. I'm curious about them but don't want to put myself through the experience. So I'm an outlier in your audience and all the movies I won't watch are all the ones you regularly do!
I just want to say whenever you do a go with me video i always get a little misty over Grommet. I know its not the same, but we remember him and love him too. He was well well loved by you and lots of rrandom people online. 🥰🥰🥰

That's an understandable one. I wanted to let you know how varied your audience is and how much I appreciate you helping me to decide whether I’ll watch a horror movie or not. Maybe our paths will cross if I’m ever in Australia, but that’s highly unlikely. I seem to be stuck here in Kentucky, USA! LOL
These two are my favorite horror movie women to watch!
Also hi from Kentucky
Hi from Indiana
Am right there with you! I like this channel, and I find informative!
Just hearing the name Junko Furuta gives me chills and makes me sad. I'm not a religious person, but if there is a Heaven, she is a Queen up there. Rest In Peace.

Jesus loves you all repent and come to Him today ❤✝️
This is my first time hearing about Junko. I'm glad this video exists because not only does it help warn people of the disturbing content, but it also raises awareness for the real life crime. More people will know her name now. I made the mistake of watching An American Crime, and if Junko's case is anything like Sylvia's I definitely won't be watching Concrete. Those poor girls.
RIP TONY TODD😢" Candyman" is a great horror movie. He will be missed.
💔yes, he will be missed😢
I just watched it last night, rip
I’m already crying for when we lose Keith David. Tony and him have incredible voices
Yes, RIP Tony Todd, one of the greats! He had an unbelievable voice too!
Such a horror legend. RIP
Losing a four legged bestie is the most wretched pain ❤ you are still coping amazingly Emma ❤
"It's an anime. How bad can it really be?" Pretty bad, pretty bad indeed😁😱
Like Perfect Blue, I love it, but some scenes man!
When you brought the last one up i kinda broke down . I understand what you went through , My wife is fighting that battle now and its the hardest thing you could imagine .
Not that it matters, as we don't know each other, but I send all hope and love to you both 💗

You're braver than I am Emma! I don't even watch some of your deep cuts based solely off your brief descriptions.
haha thanks! i only watch because i go in blind!
@@spookyastronauts❤same
I appreciate that you're always so candid with us, even in spite of the haters out there. My condolences for the loss of your friend.
thanks! some people are wild in this comment section! appreciate this
My mom got cancer in 2020 (she’s in remission now!) and I strangely gravitate towards cancer stories. Even though they are sometimes devastating it makes me feel less insane(?) for all my emotions during that time.
It is called catharsis, of course, but we all deal with these thing differently.
Yeah I understand that because it can be cathartic. Some traumas I’m fine to watch films about others I just can’t, it’s strange
It sometimes helps to know you're not the only person to have dealt with such pain!
From what I've heard about A Serbian Tale, I have no desire to see that.
Don't watch it, really, don't, it's not worth it in any way.
@@AndiCat14 it's a trip.
Saw a few clips and they still haunt me. Don’t Watch it.
That was the only movie that ever had me yelling expletives at the screen
First off, you are glowing!! Secondly, I love how your videos have been evolving even more into these heart-to-heart conversation-style pieces. Your topic choices have been extra awesome lately-- thank you so much!
For me, the one movie I never watched and absolutely refuse to ever watch is Old Yeller, because I know how it ends👀
I was an ignorant child and was at a friend’s house and she turned it on without any warning or indication of what would happen. I’m still scarred from that over 30 years later and to this day I refuse to watch a movie involving dogs or horses.
@Kimnicpat same! 😂 I absolutely will not watch any movie about a dog lol
That movie really upset me as a kid. I definitely was not prepared for that ending
Me and my husband watched it together
I agree with you about the Jeeper Creepers franchise, what he did was absolutely vile and it is disgusting that he could continue to work in movies after that.
Agreed but Jeepers Creepers 1&2 are awesome horror movies and I still watch then both every Halloween.
you explained what i have been trying to put into words forever so easily! horror is kinda my escapism from the horrors of the real world too. anything TOO real like sad stories like “we live in time” i can’t do 😭
As a dog lover (and owner) I could never watch a movie where the dog dies 😢 I am in my mid thirties and realize that it’s just a movie, but even so, if this was in the premise, I am out 🐕
Don’t watch Australian horror then they stay killing dogs in their movies haha savage!
A few of my will-not-watch films are “Graveyard of the Firefies,” “The Snowtown Murders,” and “Joker.”
Your videos on disturbing movies are a great resource for more movies that I plan to NOT watch.
Have you done a “Movies I’ve Seen, But Will Never Watch Again” video? It’s in a similar vein to this. For example: I will never again watch the movie “Kids” or “Bully.”
Sending much love to you Spooky - thanks for sharing this vid & keep posting your excellent content!
Yeah I feel you, I love the original
yeah same, it was one on my first horror movies and i love the character, it's easier to not watch any of the other movies though cause they are all worse than the first one and in the 2nd one the director really wears more of his sickness on his sleeve considering the creeper is preying on a bus of shirtless schoolboys
I have tried to, but never been able to watch “The Plague Dogs (1982)” even though is an animated movie, as an animal lover it is really hard for me to watch it.
I have never and will never in my life watch Watership Down or Plague Dogs. I'm good without them!
I relate so much to your thoughts on being sensitive to things that hit close to home. I love horror and have been delving into disturbing movies, but things that handle real world grief or tragedy are just too much!
I’ve just found your channel. Absolutely love it! ❤
It takes a secure and confident person to know their boundaries and stick to it. Love you, Em.
I’d rather watch a TERRIFIER marathon or all of TAKASHI MIIKE’s filmography than movies about loss ( I don’t handle grief well at all 😰).
omg i love a walk to remember! but when i was 15 i didnt know betterrrr!
@@spookyastronauts Ahhh, capricious youth lol😁
Great channel, thanks for all the content!
wow I had no idea about the writer/director of the Jeepers Creepers series, not sure how I missed that! Thank you for talking about it and bringing some awareness to it.
Thank you for this video! It feels comforting to know even you have limitations when it comes to horror, since I often feel embarrassed about mine as a highly sensitive person 🙏❤️
Don’t be embarrassed. I’m a horror fan, but I have my limits. That’s not a bad thing.
Hey, Emma! Did you see Ex Drummer yet? A Belgian... atrocity, let's say, with a good SOUNDTRACK, but kind of insane.
Cheers from Transylvania!
Oh, and another suggestion: Der Todesking (Death King) - a German extremely disturbing film exploring a few stories from Berlin.
It's extremely icky and dark.
I think the Director, who is also from Berlin, put a very personal stamp on this one.
I've watched most of these, but I can see why people would avoid them:
First They Kill My Father- This is a documentary filmed through the eyes of a ten year old as she goes through the Cambodian War.
(This is NOT a normal KDrama at all, I consider it a thriller/crime show)
Save Me Season 1 (2017) (Korean Thriller/Drama)- THIS SHOW I REFUSE TO WATCH. Save Me is about a Korean cult trying every method possible to break the female lead. It is sixteen episodes long, and Idk if I can emotionally handle that one.. (I also heard that the actress had to go through a lot of therapy to get over some of the subject matter tackled in this show)
The Family Game (2013) This is about a Japanese tutor exposing and destroying an average Japanese family. The kids go through a lot of trauma, and I don't think ends justify the means. I watched it, but never again.
Save me is a wonderfully put together and very well acted show. Worth the watch.
@ okay thanks for saying that. I will probably not watch that then. Any good recommendations that I should watch?
My mom went to see “Steel Magnolias” in the cinema two weeks after my dad died of cancer. She didn’t know what it was about before she saw it…
Totally get you about We Live In Time.
This is so nice thank you!
John Breck's performance as the Creeper alone deserves to be remembered and celebrated
valid take, but id feel too filthy watching the brain child of that monster.
absolutely. the first 2 are horror classics.
9:00 Thank you for informing me about that monster. I never knew someone with that kind of past had a hand in creating the Jeepers Creepers franchise.
And, once again, the sentence was extremely light for the crimes committed. I don’t get it.
What aspect of The Green Mile triggers you though? That movie's a masterpiece.
Boys Don't Cry still haunts me to this day and I watched it over 20 years ago!
@@Alex1710XVII I read the novel and it broke me so much that I refused to see the film adaptation.
Sidebar: you have great hair! People don’t do enough bangs
I have no interest in watching A Serbian Film ever.
You aren't missing out, it isn't even shocking because of how over the top it is. I don't regret watching it ONLY because I was with my bff and we were able to laugh it off, but it's garbage
@camilla8129 The director said he was filming a "metaphor for how the Serbian government treats it's citizens" bit he failed miserably.
yeah i feel you on that last one. its the same reason i wont watch marley and me, i just know itll destroy me emotionally 😅
Love your video reviews spooky thanks so much for the post.
I lost my last grandparent over the summer and a pet the summer before that. Sending you so much love. 💖
I've never heard of these other movies except for Jeepers Creepers, i have seen the first two, but i had no idea the director was a nasty, vile piece of work.
Best channel around tbh :)
I cant handle anything to do with loss and grief right now
As someone with cancer I 100 percent agree on not watching We live in time. Also, I think you should re consider watching The Farewell 😊
one movie that traumatized me forever was" Garage Olimpos" about the victims of the Pinochet era in Argentina..I dont need to ever watch it again because its forever etched into my mind & based on real events ,which were even more horrific..😵😵😰
I refuse to rewatch Futurama’s Jurassic Bark
Anything that includes animal violence is a tough watch for me. Even though I liked "The house that Jack built" as a whole, that one scene with duckling almost made me cry. I sincerely hope it was not real
The duckling scene was fake, don't worry. Still a very disturbing scene though!
One that hits really close to home for me is Reservation Dogs, that first season leading up to the obvious yet not out right spoken reveal of daniels passing hits so close to home it hurts every time i see it but the show is so well written and performed that i can't help but love it
Thank you so much for your video! I really appreciate your input on these movies.
I have a video on this already! ua-cam.com/video/Hw_YOHgi84o/v-deo.html
Not the focus of this video I know but honestly, The Farewell is actually a heartwarming film, I think the endind and the overall message is very life affirming, even dealing with the subject of death, because of a minor plot twist revealed at the end
Oh my! I did not know about the jeepers creepers thing until now 😮
Knowing they got away with it is horrific
I've had "Come and see" sitting in my shelf for some weeks now and couldn't bring myself to watch it, yet. I am still unsure if I ever will, because right now I don't expect it to tell me something about war I didn't understand yet.
I read The Girl Next Door. No way I could watch the movie; found the book quite scaring. Movies based on true events... they can hit a lot harder.
I read the Wikipedia article and it left me sobbing and nauseous.
Yeah it's a case that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I've seen that film and it's definitely disturbing subject matter and ultimately very sad. Although it's tastefully done and it isn't graphic per se, it's the sheer psychological weight of it that got me. And not to mention that the antagonists are children (along with that evil c*** of a woman) 🤬
@stevethomas74 well said.
@@filmfangirls9163 Thanks, my dear 🙂
The Girl Next Door literally made me shed tears. I don't know if I could watch that again.
@dontheador6649 I always break down when she says she thinks she's gonna be okay. David's actor was amazing in that scene and when he cries I cry.
I'd never watch Concrete either. I ingest a lot of true crime via podcasts, videos, books etc. and Junko's case was the first that made me break down sobbing hearing about what they did to her. I couldn't handle seeing it recreated.
How somebody got the idea to actually WANT to capture that on film I have no idea.
Salo is a walk in the park emotionally compared to Hachiko or Hachi: A Dog's Tale
Salo is pretty disturbing but the metaphor of the fascists loving to eat sht and insisting that everyone else does the same is too funny to me, gives it a bit of levity
Hachi made me cry like a baby 😢
Oh God... if you ever feel like "ugly-crying" during a film, that one will do it.
I did one for halloween
just when I thought...this girl can eat razorblades for breakfast with a smile...you drop the jeeprs-creepers bomb...Good on you my Lady..!! you earned my respect
I have to fight back the tears even just writing the name.
ive seen it a few times! gets me everytime
WE LIVE IN TIME WAS SO GOOD! I did only cry once though in the middle. By the end youve gone the way she did. In those seven stages. I think the fact that it jumps around everywhere prevents you from the sob of sobs
I did not see your last pick coming, I get it 😢😢😢
As for Jeepers Creepers, never seen it and since I learnt the controversy from you, I never will.
