Jamel, you are incredible with your capacity to enjoy great music to the fullest. So many other "reaction" videos are bland and lame. It seemed that everyone had this album. I was a student at Howard. At a house party a student from U of Maryland put this on. All the sudden black students from Howard and white students from Maryland,Georgetown, George Washington and maybe a couple other locals schools started jamming. It was magical. Love was in the air as we used to say. Everyone just loving it and dancing together. One my most cherished memories from college.
Sweet story. The weird part is Frampton sort of “fell out of the sky.” I wouldn’t say he was *unknown* but he wasn’t a household name. Then *this*. Suddenly he was the voice of the 70s. Just caught a wave and was fire for quite a few minutes. Frampton is a mindset. He’s a moment in time. Enjoy the memory.
Paul Edwards Amazing as it sounds people thought he just fell from moon or something. But I knew of him when he was with a group called the Herd. But when he joined Humble Pie he was better known for his guitar work not his vocals. Of course when you have Steve Marriott as your lead vocalist why bother singing
Rogers Collier I was likely too young to know of his earlier work. Plus, I came from a rural community where we weren’t exactly “encouraged” to embrace rock music. Still... even in the cow pastures of my youth... Frampton was just friggin omnipresent. This album was definitely a turning point in a generation’s “mood.” All my friends had this. Lol.
I worked in the tech business in Seattle- lots and lots of people from other countries. I remember trying to explain the cultural significance of this album to American teenagers. If you were a teenager in the late 70’s, chances are, you had it. I have owned the (double) album, the CD, and now I have it in hi-res. Just amazing.
I think I read somewhere that Joe Walsh gave him his first talk box. Joe was introduced to it by a country artist. Many guys back then made their own which would explain why people think Frampton invited it.
@@yosemitesam6945 So did Chakka Kahn on "Tell me something good". But it is very subtle you have to listen for it. During the part where she says.. "Got no time".

This album was one of the required needed to own back in the day. We had things called "house parties" that typically lasted a couple days, or until the police showed up. Those were the days.

Good memories are good for the soul and with all the drama in the world now, we need all the good vibes we can send out into the world.
I've been to over 2 or 3 hundred shows, and this performance @ MSG in October of 1976 was absolutely one of the top five! He blew the frikkin' roof off of The Garden!!

So glad I got to experience it when it was happening. You know you really love a song when you sit at the radio with your cassette recorder waiting for it to come on👍
Along with Boston's debut album. I became an instant diehard Foreigner fan around this time period. One of my high school teacher's nephews was Sib Hashien who was the original drummer for Boston.
This is one of the greatest live recording, ever. Great song, great instrumentalist, great singer all one person. People like Peter Frampton are very few and very far between.
Yeah, Frampton was with Bowie on one of his tours in the late 80s... in the leaner years, I guess, when he was recovering from the accident that damaged his hand.
Your reaction to this is very much like my reaction to hearing this for the first time, in the barracks at an Air Base in Germany in 1976. My roommate said, “You’ve got to hear this.” Based on some of his musical tastes, I wasn’t expecting much, but this just blew me away. Still one of my all-time favorites.
This was number 1 album summer of 1976, met my wife August of that year. Many late nights of Frampton. Married 45 years now. Takes me back to falling in love.
This reaction is kind of special to me... My dad when he was young went to see Frampton comes alive at this recording all those years ago. 30 years later we went together for the 30 year anniversary at the Hammersmith Apollo. It was amazing... best gig i've ever been to! I was so lucky to have been able to share that moment with my dad. It's one of those things only he and I share and we still talk about it to this day. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate this song, and I am glad you enjoyed it.
@@tommythompson9565 I was really lucky enough to be there for it. It was amazing to see them live after growing up hearing their music and becoming a fan myself. There was a great moment at the 30 year gig where peter frampton and his second guitarist had a solo-off during a song and they tore the house down! Incredible gig and a wonderful memory my dad and I speak about to this day. I was very lucky!
Good for you, man. And your dad. I misread your comment earlier - thought you were there for the Frampton Live album concert. But you are still one lucky dude.
That's what I'm talking about! Great memories of playing this over and over. What a performance!!!!!❤️❤️🎵🎵🎵 I had a lump in my throat, watching you enjoy this so much. Thanks, incredible!!
That was life in rhe 70's baby. Bell bottoms, platform shoes, the advent of the "underground" FM stations that would play the whole song. What a time to be alive...
Man I lived it. The 70's is when i grew up. I lived all of this stuff. 5 in 1970. I feel very honored that I got to experience one of the greatest eras in rock music. Yes bell bottoms, Raleigh Choppers, CB radios. It was a great time to grow up. We had no internet but it didn't matter. My brother had this album on 8 track. I used to have a T shirt of the album in 76
This performance is a MASTERPIECE....I'm so grateful that I grew up listening to... and playing the music of this era... and I still do at 60 years old !
Before I owned the record, I would hear it on the radio and was struck how much the crowd was with him the whole time... One of the best live recorded cuts ever!
I loved this so much. It's like sitting in my living room with a new friend, who's not familiar with the music I love, downin a few cold beers, and haulin out my favorite albums. At the very, least, it's like hearing this music for the first time. Best 20 minutes of my day.
One of the most magical live recordings of all time. I swear you can FEEL the ELECTRICITY in the room. The crowd is SUPER vibing along. As a musician myself, you dream of moments like this on stage. I'm not a big geek for guitar solos, but man, Frampton is on fire on this one. SO TASTY.
Well, you could make a case that the one you want is Lynryd Skynyrd's "One More From the Road' too. Most people had both of them back in the day. But I think you're probably right in that Frampton Comes Alive was the bigger seller.
@@Nightcrawlerfive , There were a number of fantastic Live Albums back then. Almost everyone I knew had Frampton's album, and many had some of the others, but Frampton's just seemed to be everywhere. Such good choices back then.
I can listen to that song over and over he was a man ahead of his time and truly made a song that will always be unique that stands alone from the rest of them. thank you Peter for. giving us that song.
I used to work security for concerts. Frampton was opening Journey. I arrived early to hear the sound checks and get my ducks in a row for that nights show. Journey was late and Frampton noodling with his band on stage and I sat in the front row and was loving it. He stopped for a moment and pointed to me and said "An Audience!" and chuckled. They then went into this song and played the whole thing very close to how it is here, but with a bit less voice box stuff. It was just awesome.
Always loved this song. I missed him at the World Series of Rock in Cleveland Ohio in 1978 because I couldn't get off work. My brother and a pal went without me. About 20 years ago I was walking in the Columbus Zoo and heard Frampton music coming from their concert stage. It was him doing a sound check.
My parents felt I was too young, at 15, to go. Most of my friends went, while I sulked listening to this album and several others in our basement in Westlake.
Here's a tune recorded live and captivated the whole crowd and everyone listening to it on their turntables. This song got everybody's undevided attention until the very last note. You can't do that today!
I don't even listen to the radio no longer think God for you tube and Pandora. He had my name all over the world for nine years people from all over the world were calling him to ask about me I even had singers give me shout outs because their music was flying off the shelves because people had for gotten about songs or for got who sung what. My name was on the Jay Leno show twice for what reason I didn't know my sister's boyfriend told me about it. Even though iam black I listen to all kinds of good old music even country music like Harper valley PTA even had him play gospel music and country music plus soul and rock and people told him to play anything I requested iam the only one on my job can play music even at the seven eleven. They will let me stay there in play music as loud as I want to lol it's run by India people. No matter how late it is the police will run everyone away but me and than they will dance sometime to the music I be playing on my job it be all kinds of race dance to my music kids also some times the customers won't go in to the restaurant until I go inside or leave to go home LoL some of the people don't even speak English but they be jamming 🐒lok

Back in “76” Frampton literally owned the world with this album, not owning it was against the law.
Obligatory listening in the seventies, good times good times good times
And as a lady you worshipped his looks!

Any band worth their salt released a live recording in the 70's. 'Frampton Comes Alive' was a monster success.
AND Bostons LP BOSTON 1976 7 DEEZ ROCKED
Live baby. No autotune. Just feeling. This was overplayed when new but is a genuine 70's classic. It has aged extraordinarily well. As have I if I do say so.
never thought this was overplayed! Lol
Show Me the Way was way overplayed. I don't think it's possible to overplay this song.
Frampton overplayed? Never!

I love how all you can hear is the cheering and you have no idea whats coming next. Such a genuine reaction. Watching you feel good about music makes me feel good about music. Thank you.
Peter Frampton is one of the most gifted guitar players. He is legendary.
That ending! Frampton brings it home like a boss!
I know, right? A real rock masterpiece, performed flawlessly, and recorded so very well.
AND LIVE AND NO AUTO TUNE
That's NOT a kazoo or any woodwind instrument. That's his guitar, playing through a "talk box", Frampton's own innovation. Love your reaction.
I think I read somewhere that Joe Walsh gave him his first talk box. Joe was introduced to it by a country artist. Many guys back then made their own which would explain why people think Frampton invited it.
@Jay Private would love to it used with a slide.
He didn't invent the talk box and it was used by Shaka Kahn in "Tell me something Good" 1974. But Frampton took the talk box and ran with it.
Joe Walsh used it too.
@@yosemitesam6945 So did Chakka Kahn on "Tell me something good". But it is very subtle you have to listen for it. During the part where she says.. "Got no time".
Child of the 70s as I am (I was 19 when this came out) I knew of no one among my friends who did not own a copy of this album. It was almost obligatory. Thanks for posting!!
I was 14 when this came out
The way he makes that guitar “talk” is just some serious talent.

He's using a Talk Box. It's a tube connected to a guitar pedal like device. You sing into the tube and it distorts the sound of the guitar with your voice. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk_box

Biggest selling Double live album of all time. I've bought the vinyl twice and have the CD. Not a bad song on the album
Clapton's sold 26 million though I think FCA is the best
Jose M is correct- it’s Clapton. But Frampton was unseated by Garth Brooks.
I also bought the vinyl twice and the CD.
When my kid's were young and I had them and their friends in the car and they was acting up and being loud and driving me half crazy, I put this song on and they all shut up and listened to the whole thing without a word.😁 Worked like a charm!
Like Wayne Campbell said in the movie “Wayne’s World”, this album was practically distributed to the masses in the 1970s.
It came in the mail with samples of tide 😆 lol.
Robert Schneider 😂🤣😂🤣
This album was one of the required needed to own back in the day. We had things called "house parties" that typically lasted a couple days, or until the police showed up. Those were the days.
From an era when a high school kid with a decent after school job could still afford a couple of concert tickets and a little weed.
And a lot of times we would all bring albums to share…..
We have no choice but to STAN. One of the greatest live albums ever recorded. This album was on the charts for nearly 2 YEARS. Everyone had it!
I'm having a 70's flashback....my turntable, big headphones, laying in the bedroom floor. I guess I was on Junior High School... anybody else remember Jr Highs ??? I miss buying albums and listening start to finish, like they were made to be heard. They tell a story !!!! LOVE it !!!!
I remember
We must be same age
Everyone and I mean everyone had this album. Remembering the days of misspent youth is why I listen to these reactions. Just trying to catch a glimpse of the awe I had back in the day allows me to relive a bit of that. Good memories are good for the soul and with all the drama in the world now, we need all the good vibes we can send out into the world.

The hook always reminds me of Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy". That's another classic you'll probably dig.
The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is another great one.
David Moranski You took the words right out of my mouth. Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is the cut!!! Great song!!

Yes Frampton forever
That was life in rhe 70's baby. Bell bottoms, platform shoes, the advent of the "underground" FM stations that would play the whole song. What a time to be alive...
Man I lived it. The 70's is when i grew up. I lived all of this stuff. 5 in 1970. I feel very honored that I got to experience one of the greatest eras in rock music. Yes bell bottoms, Raleigh Choppers, CB radios. It was a great time to grow up. We had no internet but it didn't matter. My brother had this album on 8 track. I used to have a T shirt of the album in 76
