The most amazing fire coverage of anybody. This is a terrifying fire; you have the angle, the commentary, and the urgency. It don't get any better than this. Hats off to you!
I've run out of superlatives to describe how amazing your coverage of major fires is! Sorry that you had to endure the wind and cold, but if there was a UA-cam award for news videos, you would win hands down. Thanks J.J.
After seeing the heroic efforts of the Los Angeles Fire Department and other communities to throughout Southern California this week, our first responders definitely deserve our thanks,John.Mother nature is certainly putting us to the test,my friend.Stay safe this weekend.
This is a magnificent video. Kind of a flashback to the “Bronx is burning” days though. But good to see how the FDNY contains these big ones. They are incredible.
John, “Thank you very much” for another excellent video! Your willingness to endure the sapping elements, hazardous environment, and the uncertainty of these tragic fires speaks loudly of your commitment to the FDNY, your viewers, and the firefighters who brave these incidents. Bravo John. Bravo! Greetings from your neighbor to the Northeast… Phil G.
If they did not allow continuous roof lofts across buildings, fires like this would never happen. Except in large open warehouses, they are almost unheard of across the pond. A couple of early 20th century hotels are the exception.
Your video and Skyler's video both feel more like epic films instead of just firebuff vids. This was an unbelievable job and it reminded me of the Noble Avenue fire. Good work!!
Well done brother John. Just outstanding coverage again. You’re the best I know at capturing and commenting on these fires and FDNY operations . Thank you!
That's why I have the utmost respect for the members of the FDNY, just watching the silhouette of the firefighter amidst the fire and smoke through the window sent chills through my body.
Amazing footage JJ. You are tough as the firefighters moving about in bitter cold. I watched your video front to back. You are the best and thanks for sticking with it. It's not too often to see FDNY loose one. The elements and age as well as construction of the buildings were all working to allow the fire to spread despite aggressive fire fighting attacks. Thank You for your work.
I TOTALLY AGREE JIM.....THEY RARELY LOSE FIRE BUT THE WIND AND COLD MADE THIS A VERY DIFFICULT FIRE TO FIGHT.....IT IS MIRACLE THE CONTAINED IT TO THE HIGHER FLOORS AND ALSO NOT SPREAD IN THE NEIGBORHOOD......ANYWAY, YOUR OST WELCOMED AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Excellent coverage, as always, JJ. You can just tell when these things are going to go bad as in major conflagration. Starts in the walls, all you see is a little smoke. You turn your back for a minute and all of a sudden it's 5th alarm. If it hadn't been for the wind, they might have been able to stop this one (maybe). Having to find it, then the wind beats you to it, not easy to fight these monsters. Love the angles, the different perspectives you present, and all the info you give, JJ. Stay safe out there, my friend.
JJ, when you said there are no words... and this fire is completely out of control it reminded me of the movie "The Towering Inferno" when Steve McQueen said it's out of control and it's heading your way! This was an epic fire 🔥
Damn, this thing blew up real quick! You could here the concern in the voices on the radio there which I don't think I've ever heard before. It only lasted for a minute or two before they got back to their normal, more confident tone. Just something I noticed. I feel so very sorry for the residents of that building. There never is a good time for this, but with it being so cold, it's especially difficult. My thoughts go out to them. Hope everyone got out OK. Great job as usual JJ and FDNY!!!
Awful fire. So many lost their homes. Thoughts and prayers to all those affected. Never expected it to reach those lower floors. It was good to finally see Chief Moore again. Stay safe John! 🚒🇺🇸
I know about clothes, bruh .Reebok .Kappa. Lonsdale. On da pull .A Ben Sherman shirt, bruv .Yeah, I guess you could call me a trendy 50 year old bloke 😊
A fantastic video JJ of a terrible fire! Fantastic work! President Lincoln complained that during the beginning of the Civil War, his top Union General (George McClennan) had the "slows" What a wonderful expression: Slow to appreciate the situation, slow to respond to the situation, and slow to respond to opportunities. For the first time since watching your videos, I have to say (and I admit that I am not a professional or even an amateur) that I thought FDNY Command had the "slows". I was watching those members on the roof doing standard roof ops and thought they should have been pulled sooner in this wind-driven inferno.. It seemed that power ladders were needed to combat the cockloft fire earlier. I think that this should have gone to 5 Alarms sooner.I wonder how many families were displaced and hope they are safe and find shelter. I spoke to life-long friends in LA tonight and they are safe but could see the inferno from their home.
Thanks for speaking up Bob. Watch a ton of FDNY and I feel they were a step behind here and that the apparatus placement was poor and that the chiefs may not have known the severity of the fire and wind on the roof. Lots of time looking for a cockloft nozzle. Tower 51 spent a lot of time on one window. Of course no injuries is the good news.
I really appreciate your efforts and knowledge. When the video started, with the smoke pushing, it looked serious, but after you found a roof, it turned very serious. From the caption I knew it's a 5th alarm. All the best in this New Year, and thank you for your amazing work.
That’s a beautiful looking building! Those red fire escapes really look neat and tell me they really take care of that building. You know when you see it’s a 2 hour video, it’s gonna be a bad one. Man, what a shame… Thanks JJ! You are the GOAT with your footage and the best ever perspective on YT! Happy New Year from Chicago, brother!
WELL, IT IS A NICE BUILDING BUT REPORTS IN THE MEDIA SAY THE LANDLORD WAS NOT TAKING CARE OF IT.....GLAD YOU ENJOY THE VIDEO AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Thanks JJ great coverage always best camera angles!!!!., Super Job FDNY!! 🚒 The cold 🥶 and the Wind are awful with These Fires 🔥.. Prayers for people in the Building..Be safe and Stay Warm..
Oh no, I‘m so sorry for the people who lost their home 😢 what a fire 😱 and the wind is crazy… Hope everyone is ok and alive! Great job FDNY 🙏🏼❤️ My heart goes out to everyone who lost everything because of fires… no matter if NYC or LA…. my thoughts are with you ❤️ Greetings from Switzerland
The speed that fire spread is unbelievable, even members pulling cielings with the fire above and the members on the roof, ... lost for words JJ, brilliant video though mate. Thank you, stay safe and warm.
Fantastic coverage as always brother. These cold windy nights leave a lot to be desired as the dedication and hard work of FDNY shines as always as the best at what they do!!
Wow that got out of hand fast. When you first got there I thought they would contain it. I guess the wind had other ideas. Great job by you and the FDNY. I feel sorry for everyone who lost their homes.
JJ I am only 20 minutes in and this is spectacular! I’m glad you are all the way across the street. I am anxious for the firefighters as one 25 year old firefighter was killed and 4 others were seriously injured here in Honolulu This week. This reminds me of the fires I saw in NYC in the 50’s as a toddler evacuated with my parents on more than one occasion. Be safe and especially warm and dry JJ. ALOHA AND MAHALO🌺🤙🏼🌺
Thank you John for braving that cold and that wind to bring us this amazing coverage of an absolutely terrifying fire...the FDNY is hands down by far the best fire dept in the world!!! And this goes to show even the best of the best (which are the FDNY) sometimes loses against mother nature...but it was a win that nobody was injured, hurt or killed in that blaze!!!!
JJ your dedication to your chosen creative endeavor is unsurpassed. Hands down the best. Also on another channel I learned there are heated vests. Oxo was the brand i believe. You need one. Thanks for the awesome job and blessings for you.
Horrible situation. Outside elements beyond anyone's control. FDNY made a courageous and valiant effort but could not overcome the wind. Thank you for the excellent coverage JJ. Stay safe. Prayers for all those who were hurt and lost their homes in the blaze.
This fire was shocking, to put it lightly! When you first arrived I thought they were going to be able to make quick work of it. At first I thought you had used the wrong thumbnail because it showed a substantial fire and this looked to be contained. WOW! That wind really did a job on this one! Heartbreaking to see so many people lose their homes. Great coverage as always. I appreciate you.
Nice job as usual John. What a devastating fire under difficult conditions. I'm always a little surprised how much damage some of these buildings can take.
The design of these buildings reminded me of Windsor Castle when it was on fire! My heart goes out to all those people that lived there and for the firefighters who had to deal with the weather conditions! Windy and cold!
Its been a long time coming, I don’t wish loss or tragedy on anyone. But I got a little tired of going back watching the old videos of major alarm fires I’ve seen all of them. Stay Blessed and Safe.
Holly Molly what e big fire 🔥 I hope you and Skyler fire is ok and it’s nice to see you don’t get the smoke on you. Take care and hope you got a lot of hot chocolate later. 😎
I'm surprised this fire didn't drop down a few floors. I guess we'll know by the time it's out. This one is probably the biggest one in some time. I am very sorry for the residents. My heart goes out to them.
As always, great coverage JJ. What is very obvious at this fire was the lack of Tower Ladders employed at the scene.. We've seen more Buckets utilized in smaller fires.
excellent excellent video covering as always... you are awesome at filming for all of us viewers... much appreciated my friend.... your channel fan from Cleveland Ohio..stay warm and as always be safe
The wind was a major instigator, the wind conditions are very strong, much like the fires in Los Angeles, California. Prayers for the residents and citizens affected by the wildfires in California.
Hey that fire hit the cocklofts.... quick....wow even when you were on the street, you could see the chunky smoke coming from the small vents above top floor windows...
Amazing coverage John. The best. Such a large strong fire helped along by very strong wind. It is a huge fire. You have been out in the cold almost 2 hours. Such dedication on your part and the FDNY. Thank you John and them. My thoughts are with the residents of these buildings. Such a big loss for them to bear. 😢
Thank you so much John for the amazing coverage. This was a classic battle between man and nature and for a long time nature thumbed her nose at man. Thank God for the FDNY. Those men and women are the best. And so are you John. Thank you for putting yorself out there to get us the coverage.
Hi JJ, i don't know if they had time to do trench cuts between wings to save them. Right in the throat area. Roof has to collapse in order to extinguish fire.
Great coverage on this epic fire 🔥 John !! Thanks for your efforts on this 5th alarm. I'm sure it was chilly on that roof ! Would love to do some buffing with you guys on 9ne of my visits to the Bronx ?? I'll buy lunch down on Arthur Avenue in Little Italy
It was worth waiting a day to see your video, John. I was wondering if you made it to the box. Sorry to all of the residents who lost their homes...very sad, as is L.A.
The most awesome video on the subject of firefighting ever. Thank you for this and withstanding the cold. Made me think of the game rock paper and scissors. Thank you for the update. Eight firefighters were hurt.
Wow that is scary with the wind blowing that strong. Thanks for posting. God Bless the men and women that do these jobs!!

Was anxiously waiting for this upload! Knew you wouldn’t disappoint! Thank you John!!
Man as always great job documenting FDNY history!! Stay safe out there.
It's like trying to fight fire concurrently in 4 adjacent buildings. Excellent video. Howdy from Texas.
IT WAS INDEED A TOUGH FIRE TO FIGHT BUT THEY DID A GREAT JOB CONSIDERING KEN.....THANKS SO MUCH.....

JJ, thank you for braving the elements. This was one nasty fire, but once again, our heroes at the FDNY had it handled. ❤
Well done brother John. Just outstanding coverage again. You’re the best I know at capturing and commenting on these fires and FDNY operations . Thank you!
Great coverage John. The FDNY sure had their hands full on this wind driven fire.

Such a horrifying fire. Just did not want to surrender. Thank you for wonderful coverage as always
Thank you for the informative content and producing a very good sense of what city firefighting is like. Wind. Wind. Wind. Not easy.
You are totally correct John. There are no words. That wind is their biggest enemy. I saw the presser on this later on. Praise goes to the FDNY!!
Incredible video JJ! That was one of the biggest in a while and they did a great job as always!
Great video and what a fire! Bad enough that it was windy but the freezing temps made it very tough to control.
Hope you warmed up

Devastating fire, that wind is a major factor in that fire. Outstanding video, John. Please stay safe and warm, brother. 5 * video!
JJ, you went above and beyond with this video, bearing in mind the brutal wind and cold. Excellent coverage as usual. Great work by the fdny as well.
Excellent coverage John, wind playing havoc making the task very difficult for FDNY to control.
The speed that fire spread is unbelievable, even members pulling cielings with the fire above and the members on the roof, ... lost for words JJ, brilliant video though mate. Thank you, stay safe and warm.
Why did they not bring in more tower ladders to the front? is there any videos that show the fire towards the end, after JJ stopped recording? Thanks
Seems like the wind is playing a big role in fires lately. 🤔
Lately? Wind is new?
Damn a stubborn inferno, excellent video and comms JJ, as always we all appreciate your expertise in covering the fire 👍

I'm surprised this fire didn't drop down a few floors. I guess we'll know by the time it's out. This one is probably the biggest one in some time. I am very sorry for the residents. My heart goes out to them.
It dropped to 5th floor only.. you are so right but with so much water the building department will probably deem the apartment complex unoccupiable.
The ladder guys have guts like no other!!!
Engine guys too
As always, great coverage JJ.
What is very obvious at this fire was the lack of Tower Ladders employed at the scene.. We've seen more Buckets utilized in smaller fires.
YES, THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN THEM SPRAYING EARLY BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS A VERY DIFFICULT FIRE TO FIGHT UNDER THE CONDITIONS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
excellent excellent video covering as always... you are awesome at filming for all of us viewers... much appreciated my friend.... your channel fan from Cleveland Ohio..stay warm and as always be safe
WELL, THAT MEANS A LOT FOR US TO HEAR AND GLAD YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO......THANKS SO MUCH.....
This is epic coverage JJ. The brothers did everything they could to fight this fire and mother nature. Unbelievable effort by all.
The wind was a major instigator, the wind conditions are very strong, much like the fires in Los Angeles, California. Prayers for the residents and citizens affected by the wildfires in California.

Hi JJ, i don't know if they had time to do trench cuts between wings to save them. Right in the throat area. Roof has to collapse in order to extinguish fire.

The most awesome video on the subject of firefighting ever. Thank you for this and withstanding the cold. Made me think of the game rock paper and scissors. We could add wind and water and the reality is that the clear winner between wind and water is wind.
