    When I was a teenager, I watched our 2 story house burn to the ground. I will never be able to erase that image from my mind. I can still hear my mother's cries as she watched but made sure we were all out safely. That was over 70 years ago and I remember it clearly. This just breaks my heart!

    This conveys the severity of the situation so much better than a news person yapping in front of a camera situated a mile from the flame front. The video does all the reporting necessary.

The Insurance Commisioner reviews the policies and decides if it's OK to charge what they want to charge. It's the government that decides. They do not allow excess profits in insurance. In California's case, they demanded negative profits. So the insurance companies left. You wouldn't work to lose money so why do you expect them to? This is government incompetence. The insurance companies warned about the wildfire risks and did the math to evaluate the risks. The government didn't listen.

    i;m sure they have thought of this but how about spraying the water into the wind ahead of the fires, rather than directly on the fires

    • @thelifenonadic
      @thelifenonadic 11 годин тому

      Because the wind atomizes the water and then the heat immediately evaporates it. They mainly try to heavily wet areas ahead of the fire to contain the spread but obviously in these conditions with the limited resources they have, not much containment is possible.

  • @craffte
    @craffte 10 годин тому +1

    This shows we're going to need more in the way of containment for future disasters. We have to build differently.

    Meanwhile , there are those in Ca's state government trying to figure out how to tax these homeowners for
    Unauthorized use of carbon credits, increased pollution, and poor air quality as well as burning without a permit.
    My understanding is there is little to no water to fight the fires.
    More insurance companies are leaving California for sure after this.
    I am willing to bet most of these people will flea the state now.
    After the coals die out , the homeless junkies can pitch tents over the nice soft beds of ashes that used to be LA's better neighborhoods.
    Sad, this was once the 5th largest economy in the world, has now become this.
    California looks just like Bidens' presidency and Kamala's campaign.
    A giant Democratic heap of smoldering ashes.
    This is 100% Democrat Super majorly Managment result's. It's Maui 2.0 , same people in charge.
    Now they will force the building of apartments on all that land, it's an attack on American suburbs.
    Forcing us on top of each other to make us easier to control.

    Had to emergency evacuate during a firestorm event too! Terrifying... Was out of my place for nearly 2 weeks but I decided to move after that. The fire risk where I was? Just too great and with only 2 narrow evacuation routes possible with like 14K using them? Too scary! No wonder it took 5 hours to evacuate... But definitely do so... NEVER wait and see...
