In our latest adventure around Toronto, we stumbled upon a house with a severely damaged roof and gutters. We first offered to install brand-new gutters completely free of charge. After completing the gutter installation, we surprised the homeowner by telling them they would also receive a free roof replacement!
But that’s not where the story ends. While working on the gutters, we noticed the roof of their neighbor's house was in equally bad shape. This is where the real twist begins. We decided to ask our original homeowner if they would keep the new roof for themselves or pass it on to their neighbor in need.

For those who don't know, everytime they do a complete roof change + gutters it's as if they were giving away $28,000 to $30,000 worth of work. These roofs are not cheap. God bless these guys!
& the landlord of the property next door will be thrilled that the tenant has refused this £28 to £30k. I bet she hasn't spoken to the disabled guy or the landlord.

That neighbour lady was the one putting the owner on UA-cam saying he was disabled, sick, sleeping a lot and parents taking care of most stuff. She did not have to say any of it really.

She sounded scared, so maybe the parents gave her a talking to about mentioning anything about their son and threatened her tenancy if there was any further mention - Absolutely a sadness that the house didnt get the roof it needed, but I also know htat when one has someone disabled it can be a very scary responsibility... and given the state of the roof, they are probably pretty hard up, so dare not risk it being a scam - Very sad all round

She is a "RENTER" someone who pays the owner of the house to live in their house. She has no legal right or obligation to accept the offer! And if she does, she can get into a lot of trouble with the family!
No one knows what the note actually said. IMO by watching the videos, they asked her to pass their information on to the parents and the renter gave the parents her opinion, therefore, not calling.
I hope Tim gets to tell them what they lost out on.

And just to add another comment, Tim was incredibly kind to pay it forward and even though he joked about taking the roof, I knew there was truth to it because he understood the value of such a gift. That’s a once in a lifetime deal, and despite that, he still participated and soldiered on to try to improve his neighbour’s house. What a guy. That woman did not want this man's roof to get fixed, and her uncalled for attitude could possibly indicate something negative happening within that home that she is covering.

Truth be told I would not have gone back that many times to try to speak to that unmannerly woman. The right person got the roof.

She probably regrets oversharing in the beginning. Either way, her attitude is justified in this case. They dragged an unsuspecting person into it and she could receive the blame for it. She just wants to live there and having that threatened would trigger anybody. The fact that we are even knowledgeable about this matter is proof that the channel still has a long way to go. A professional crew would have removed all footage involving them and respected their privacy. Not everyone is comfortable with becoming "content".
Over $10K for a new rood and the grumpy old lady ruined it for her landlords. Oh well, the guys should just ignore these special cases, let the tax payers help them.

@@FREQQLES Na the only one that needed "exploited" in this case was the rude individual that probably got triggered that they knocked on the door during her soaps and most likely never talked to the owners of the house about it. A simple yes thank you or no thank you would have sufficed but she had to get ignorant with it.
There was no exploitation going on just because she thought there would be, having been a roofer I know roofers hate seeing people living under bad roofs (it obviously destroys the entire home)... especially when it's someone living under such with no ability to fix it. I did TONS of free jobs like that because of such (until we ran into a self entitled con-artist that tried to sue us that is).
The only thing these dudes messed up on is not just dealing with the home owners in the first place... that I will agree on.
Unfortunately much like with my experience, these dudes will probably end up running into shitters that will ruin a good thing for the rest out there.... it's only a matter of time.

I'm disabled, and would never turn down an act of kindness like you give people. There's just no helping some people in this world, but keep up the good work and find the people who really appreciate you for what you do.
Remember she was just the tenant the home had nothing to do with her. Without talking to the parents of the disabled guy nothing could be sorted out.

They were clearly trying to get information to get in contact with the owner of the home, hence knocking of the door of the woman who pays the owner rent. How is this so hard to comprehend? It's amazing how much difference a new roof and gutters make on a house. A lot of people don't realize how much that would normally cost even for just fiberglass shingles much less a metal roof. Tim deserved this and his house will be in much better shape down the road because of this. You all rock.

The situation with the neighbors is unfortunate. You tried a new format allowing for the gutter recipient to do a good deed by passing on the gift of a roof, and it didn’t work out. 🤷🏼♂️ The lady’s attitude was just ridiculous. But don’t give up on this idea. I’m sure it’ll work out in the future. Not everyone has off-putting neighbors like that. Definitely try the idea again when the situation allows for it. Maybe in the future feel out the gutter recipient to make sure they have somewhat of a relationship or rapport with their neighbors.
Now, with that out of the way, Tim was a great person to receive the gift. Great job, again, guys!!!
I disagree on asking needy people who want/need a roof to give it away to someone else on camera. It's unfair to put them in that position.
@@laurieg673 They clearly chose his and the neighbor’s houses for this idea because he had a decent roof while his neighbors didn’t. If the neighbors hadn’t been weirdos, it would’ve worked out wonderfully. AND, like Milos said early on in the video, they both were going to receive new roofs after all was said and done. While there wasn’t anything wrong with Tim’s shingled roof, metal is a superior product, so it’s still an upgrade. And a lot of times it will lower your insurance because hail and wind aren’t as damaging to metal roofs.
@@amazonhippie7826 the young man was not told he was still getting a roof. That puts him in an awkward position of looking stingy if he wants the roof. I just think it is putting people on the spot to either look generous or stingy. It's not fair to do that to people. The next person may need a roof and they get backed in a corner to look "good" on UA-cam.
As far as insurance goes, a metal roof increases your insurance because if you have a fire, they can't get in the roof to put the fire out. It's a liability because it's impossible to stop a fire if you have a metal roof. Firefighters hate metal roofs because they can't save your house. It would be a total loss.

I HIGHLY doubt that they would ask someone that was in desperate need of a new roof to make that decision. Give these brothers some credit. And give them a break. Hell, give me a break. How do you get people to come fix your house for free. It's a miracle that these people go around and do this for people it's amazing. If somebody came up to me and wanted to do something for free I would be in shock. That just doesn't happen to people like me or nor do I expect it to happen. 💖 There are nice people out there still

If that woman can't see the good that these guys would have done for that man, then she has bigger problems than he does. Not to mention the parents. Shame on all of them. That was SO sweet of Tim offering his free roof to the neighbours. That's too bad that they missed out on such a great deal. Now they will have to pay for their own new roof down the road. I don't know what that lady was worried about, but oh well! I KNOW Tim will appreciate his new roof. He will be floored when he sees it. He loved having his gutters done for free.
