49ers fan here since 86 but always liked the pats and those cool unis..everybody loved flutie, of course. fryar and Morgan were sick! tippet is a living legend..wish the pats would go back to those colors.
I'm afraid you may not have liked us that much if Berry hadn't hated and insanely benched Flutie so we missed the playoffs. We beat the Bengals and Bears and had more playoff and Super Bowl experience than anyone in the AFC postseason, and if the right decision had been made (like Belichick in 2001 keeping the kid in there who would go on to set records and win titles) we could have ruined Coach Walsh's last game.
@@robfloyd7389 ha ha! spoken like a true pats fan! 49ers were a team of destiny that year. they only won 10 games but turned it on when they had to. hard to believe anyone could have stopped them. pats were a fun team tho. I never realized they had all this firepower on that squad! I agree, horrible decision to bench flutie- they could have done some damage in the playoffs!
pound for pound the best unis in the 80s! I also liked the Seahawks and Bucs unis for different reasons. but every team had nice unis. not like today! we can blame the '97 broncos for starting this BS
Flutie may have been an HOFer had he played a complete career in the NFL. Instead, he was discarded by multiple coaches, especially come playoff time when he would have shone.
Week 14 vs. Seahawks was my first Patriots game(attended). I do remember it was very cold and Irving Fryar getting injured in the 3rd quarter but sprinting out of the locker room in the 4th.
It’s funny. My uncle took me to training camp... not many fans there. We got to talk to Raymond Berry for a while. I didn’t know who Berry was at the time
i agree for a team that beat probably the two best AFC Superbowl contenders that yr in the playoffs ..one that actually BEAT the Bears that yr ..yeah it had to be hard ...
The Patriots in Super Bowls NFC East: Giants L, L / Eagles W, L - No Cowboys or Redskins - although Cowboys would make SB in 1992, 93, 95 and Redskins would make SB in 82, 83, and 87 (Pats would make SB in 85, 96) NFC North: Bears L / Packers L - No Lions or Vikings - Lions have never made SB and Vikings have not made SB since 1976 NFC South: Falcons W / Panthers W - No Saints or Buccaneers - although Saints would make SB in 2009 and Buccaneers would make SB in 02 (Pats would make SB in 01, 03, 04, 07, 11) NFC West: Rams W, W / Seahawks W - No 49ers or Cardinals - although 49ers would make SB in 2012 and 19 and Cardinals would make SB in 08 (Pats would make SB in 07, 11, 14, 16, 17, 18)
Fryar , Tippet , Stephens and Grogan.

I just can't get over how nice the Patriots uniforms are.

Flutie's ability, as a short guy, to find and hit open receivers with defensive backs towering far above his head and bearing down on him was amazing.

Love the NFL Films music from that era, especially one used in opening game to start video. I also love Jeff Kaye as a narrator.
I really liked that team. You got the feeling that they were on the verge of breaking out the following year. But instead they went 5-11 in '89.
Season Ending Injuries To Tippett, Veris, And Lippett In The Preseason Doomed Them In '89.

They need 2 go back 2 the old unis
If only they had a good kicker that year, probably would have won 2-3 of those tight games and won the Div.
Revenge win vs chi ought to be uploaded
John Stephens at 6'2 215 was a 4.40 guy in the 40
R.I.P. Russ Francis.
2:17 Are they playing on a parking lot??? That turf looks like pure asphalt.
they deserved a better fate but i think the 86 loss in the super bowl was tough on them

Back when the Patriots were likable
E.z rocky Johnson
yeah, they were fun to watch and feel sorry for.
I don’t think you have even been likable . Just an observation
@@joeshields2005 For certain! Welcome to Costco; I love you
A lot of us have always thought the Patriots are likable.
The pats would put up 5 straight losing after this, including a 1-15 1990 campaign.
