    So lovely and she looks beautiful. I remember looking in the mirror and taking a lipstick to follow the contours of my face to see if I had an oval face, I did not. It was round! EEK. Keep up the great videos.

      Thanks Mom! I remember hearing about that trick of drawing your face shape on a mirror in lipstick! Thanks for watching- we'll keep it up!

    I have to say that I hated liquid eyeliner until I received a brown liner in a subscription box, and now I know why! I am very fair with reddish-brown hair as well.
    I absolutely love these tutorials!!

      Yes, using a brown liquid liner makes such a big difference if you're fair! Glad you discovered that! Thank you for watching; so glad you're enjoying the videos! :)

    Just lovely, have been enjoying your vintage tutorials as a film buff. When you mentioned Monroe for the '50s brows, however, my mind went "Noooo! Ava Gardner and Jane Russell!" To me, those brunette ladies epitomized the rich dramatic brow lines, full sensuous lips and strong features of that era. Loving the history of color and implements. Keep up the great work!

    • @MyVintageLove

      Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! When I mentioned Marilyn's eyebrows, it was only in the context of them being pointier at the top than a more classic 50s brow. I also think Ava Gardner and Jane Russell are perfect examples of the classic 50s look, including brows!

    I just found your channel and I totally love you and your husband. You have inspired myself and my other half with some great ideas for our upcoming wedding. Of course during these times of Covid, we will not be having a reception or anything like that. You’ve given us the idea of making a great vintage video to share with our friends, since we cannot be together at this time. This is a great tutorial. Much love Inez

    Loved this! Another excellent and detailed tutorial. This was very much my granny's decade. My granny totally got her hair done every week and she could paint red nails flawlessly in a flash. She also had the most amazing eyebrows, which she drew on every morning, sparking my lifelong fascination with makeup.
    Your comment about the matte look preference reminded me of one line of dialogue I heard in a movie from this era. "Your face is shiny, " said a man in a dismissive tone to his female dinner companion.

    • @MyVintageLove
      @MyVintageLove  10 місяців тому

      Ah, I love hearing about grandma's beauty routine! My grandma always said she had to go "put on her face" before we went out (although she didn't really put much makeup on).
      I love that line from that old movie! Never heard that one! Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you for watching! So glad you're enjoying the videos! There is a bit about color theory in the book I mentioned, and also if you go to glamourdaze.com they have beauty guides from various eras that you can download for a fee that cover color theory from those eras, including the 40s & 50s.

    Any tips for those of us with older skin and droopier eye lids? Also any tips for makeup from the local drugstore? Very sensitive skin and allergies to latex and adhesive. Glad you mentioned the lash glue without latex.

    • @MyVintageLove
      @MyVintageLove  10 місяців тому

      Anything specific you would like to know regarding older skin and droopier eye lids? There's so much that can be covered! Maybe I can do a separate video about makeup for older skin. In terms of makeup from the drugstore, the gap between prestige makeup and drugstore makeup has closed a lot in the past few years and there are lots of wonderful options from the drugstore. Please let me know if you have any specific questions and thank you for watching!
