This is so fascinating! I love watching the vintage films of how to dress and wear makeup. Your application plus commentary makes so much sense. I learned some new things. Thanks!
If you are a person of color and want something similar to panstick is huda beauty/makeup forever/kroylan tv paint stick. Max factor made these things yet it is available to everyone because it’s a staple of numerous different brands, he created stick foundation. Similar to creme puff which is a creme to powder, Iman carries those.
Trudy reminds me a bit of Jane Greer here, simply gorgeous! I loved that you showed the clear contrast between everyday and Hollywood looks in the 1940s.
Love these videos and Trudy is such a great model to have. Love her eyebrows. We get Max Factor here in the UK. The foundations are great but you're right about the shades and undertones being funky. They seem to alternate pink and yellow undertones which means I can never get the right shade. They're also not inclusive. Such a shame.
Yes it’s such a shame the shade range and undertones aren’t better and more inclusive! I wish they would keep the formula but change the shades. Thank you for watching! ❤️😊
Am I the first one commenting here? All I have to say is that I loooooove your channel and clicked on it as soon as I got the notification. I always had this strange feeling that I may have been born in the early 20th century when in reality wasn’t. With my 200+ red lipstick collection, I know a girl could never have too much red lipsticks. Love from Canada.❤️
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying the channel so much, it really means a lot! I feel you about having 200+ red lipsticks! I have at least that many- a girl really can't have too much red lipstick!
Great video , very informative and love the history behind the makeup. I would love to see a video on how to accessorize your vintage look and ideas on staying historically correct when dressing.. Best you tube channel.
Thank you so much Inez! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for the ideas- we will add those to the list of videos to shoot! We haven't done many fashion videos lately and should probably do some more. Thanks for watching!
Hey Michelle I love your channel. I’ve recently found it a few months back and as a 15 year old vintage lover myself. Who is starting to dress 50’s and 60’s. Along with the hair and makeup side of things. And trying to keep the most authentic look possible. You very helpful. Also I am from the uk. And I remember u talking about pan stick here. In the uk. It doesn’t come up as orange I am light skinned black so it doesn’t matter to me. But my nanna who is white said she used it when she was younger and it came up fine. So I suggest getting pan stick from the uk. Also pat was short for pat a creme which was a max factor product. I think it was either a compact cream foundation. Or a compact powder foundation. Hope this helps dear. ❤
Hi @Mia-ky8ui! I'm so glad you're enjoying the channel and finding it helpful! Thank you for the information/suggestions about pan stick. I imagine the formulation and colors might have changed since your nanna's time, but it's hard to say. Maybe if I'm in the UK sometime I can try to get some pan stick there. Thank you for watching and commenting!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a hair tutorial for your models half up do... i love it and cant find a tutorial for anything similar... in fact if you did a hair series like this makeup one that would be amazing talking about all the different styles and techniques. PS: you deserve way more subs your channel and content is wonderful!
I've had a lot of requests for a tutorial about her hair, so I probably should do that! I'm not sure I'm good enough at hair to do a full series of hair tutorials by decade, but that is a good idea! Thank you so much for your kind words! It's definitely a labor of love, so it's so nice to know t's being appreciated!
@@MyVintageLove honestly it’s such a beautiful hairstyle I’m not surprised you got a lot of requests! I’d love to be able to try it myself so if you do get round to a tutorial that would be so lovely!! I just really love how you talk about stuff and the research you do so I’d love to see what you come up with if you do ever decide to do a hair decade series. ❤️
LOVE your channel, I'm doing a live series in my Instagram doing different makeup looks of different decades and your videos help me a lot with my research❤️❤️ Also, they are very relaxing 🤭
I love this look. It looks phenomenal on Trudy! I recently found your channel and must say I’m obsessed. 😂 I’ve learned so much!! I was just curious if you know any good resources for creating Trudy’s hairstyle in this video?
Thank you so much! I’m so happy that you found our channel and are enjoying it so much! There is a book called “Vintage Hairstyling: Retro Styles with Step by Step Techniques” by Lauren Rennells that has great step by step instructions of how to do vintage hair. I don’t think it has this *exact* style but it would be a good place to start!
Well I don’t know , but for me Max Factor Pan Stick in 25 fair is enough ( and it’s a better match in color than any modern foundations I’ve ever used and use ) , and it’s interesting how it looks in stick quite pinkish beige but has a bit yellowish under tone when applied on face.
I'm glad that the Pan Stick works for you! Foundations look so different on everyone. It is very interesting how the product looks like one color in the packaging and another color on the face. It is a great product!
Putting this much powder on mature skin probably wouldn't look that great, to be honest. This much powder would end up looking not so great after it settles into fines lines, etc.

@@MomShots Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it and learned some new things!
I love this look you created for Trudy. It is simple, but glamourous.
Thank you so much! So glad you loved it! That is what I love about the 40s makeup look- simple but glamorous!
Trudy has such beautiful, expressive eyes to begin with, and the minimal shadow/liner was all she needed.
She does have beautiful eyes! She is an amazing model! Thank you for watching!

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I thought it was important to make a distinction between the two.
I always use panstik, I love it, especially for a vintage look, it was a favourite of my gran's, she loved it and so do I love your videos xx
It is a great product! Thank you for watching- so glad you're loving the videos!
Fabulous 🤩
@@Ur_gal_pau Thank you!
So relaxing 😌
Thank you! A friend said I should do vintage makeup ASMR. 😂😂
Michelle, a “Pat” is a panacake cream foundation that was exclusive to the company “Ponds”.
Thanks!
I really loved this! What a beautiful look. Please do a Max Factor Creme Puff vintage application tutorial! Please please!
Thank you! If I can find some Max Factor Creme Puff I will! ❤️

I love the lip shade you're wearing yourself! 🫶🏻 What's it called?
Oh wow, I shot this so long ago I can't remember for sure. I would guess that it's Victory Red by Besame though. Thank you for watching!

This is so relaxing! You should do ASMR makeup and vintage videos! (But not the annoying clicking, tapping, mouth sounds. Just soft spoken)
Omg you’re about the third person to say that in about a week! Maybe we should do that! 😂👍🏻❤️
You begin to feel like a shoe best make up comment ever 😂🥰🙌🏻
Lol! Yes, that’s one I’ve never heard before! 😂
Does the super powder look actually work on mature skin
Putting this much powder on mature skin probably wouldn't look that great, to be honest. This much powder would end up looking not so great after it settles into fines lines, etc.
Trudy is so beautiful and glamorous.... she reminds me of Judy Garland.... btw was it windy the day you filmed this? That lip colour is stunning
She is! I'm lucky to have such beautiful friends! It was *very* windy the day we filmed this! Thank you for watching!
