Does stair master and elliptical bad for herniated disc? Have one l4 l5
Yoga has been one of the only things that has kept me from being confined to a wheelchair. Sometimes when I can’t walk I do yoga and then I can walk. Not trying to discredit you or anyone else’s experience this is just what I have experienced.
I've seen so much damage from yoga in my years working in a physio clinic This is exactly why I created Sanctuary Stretch as an alternative to Yoga. 🙏💜
As a chronic back pain sufferer and a student of William, I can confirm that what William explains is true, at least in my experience. For me, yoga has been something I’ve tried, more than once, but it always causes bad lower back pain flare ups and sciatica. When people learn about my chronic lower back pain, and ask me, “have you tried yoga?”, my response is always something along the lines of, “Oh, brother… do you want the short or the long answer? Anyways, yes, I have, and no, it has not helped.” In my chronic back pain journey, yoga has helped with other things: better flexibility, breathing, strength, stability, mindfulness, and all that good stuff that yoga provided. HOWEVER, it causes my lower back pain to flare up horribly, so I always end up giving up yoga. I wish I could do yoga, for the benefits it has, but for now, I will continue to work out following William’s teachings + my own personal knowledge about my body and my pain.
Thanks for the video. I have a couple of bulging discs, and I have noticed how certain stretches aggravate the synthoms. However, these yoga poses in the video are related to spine flexion. There are twisting and extending poses that can trigger pain in some cases as well.
Hey Will, love your content!
Im wondering if you have ever watched Ben Patrick's (Knee Over Toes Guy) approach to fixing back issues. A lot of his theories are based on "strength through length" and he suggests progressing through exercises like the Jefferson Curl. Although he is very smart, this seems like a horrible idea. I'd love to get your take on this if you have the time.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
I am familiar with it and will keep this topic in mind for future videos!
@@Fitness4BackPain is it possible that two different bodies can respond to stretching in different ways? Why would people successfully recover using both methods?
How long would you say not to do these things... Or to wait after healing from an l5/s1 disc protusion
Hi William. I have a background in classical dance. After a fall on ice and L2-fracture, have been standing in the 120 cm section of pool and doing my own "aqua ballet" invented movements to stretch & strengthen that whole area (front & back of body):
__ movements while,
__walking forward
__walking backwards
__standing while holding onto wall of pool
__using stretch band.
Am very out of shape.
What I have going for me:
_ muscle memory;
_ ability to tap back into ancient habits of ballet discipline.
QUESTION__If ever you were to do a "standing / walking" in water video, I would be VERY interested in trying any and all exercises.
