One tip: when taking the games that are often used, the big decor pieces are in the way and more important. When putting these games back, it will be a hussle and then people will put the games in an easier spot. And thus misplace stuff.
Mayby you can put the big game basked a shelf up and the vases and the big decor pieces one down. Then all the games are also on one shelf and getting to frequently used games is easier.
I think you are a 20 min person. Keep it up!

I would recommend moving all the decor to its own shelf away from the grab and go shelf by the stairs. Since your decor is seasonal, you only access it when the season arises, just like Christmas. I think it moved to where it is because you dropped it off there on that shelf. You mentioned having the declutter shelf by the gardening/outdoor space, but I would move the transitionary items to be as close to the stairs as possible because that is your high traffic area where you will be more likely to see the items that need to be dealt with. It's kind of like you how you don't store your Christmas tree in the kitchen cabinets, and that shelf by the stairs is almost your kitchen. ❤❤❤

    Hi Karen!
The big green container without a lid. It can hold the big bags with pillows aso on top of the shelf where you keep the vases and craft supply. Then it would look neater on the top than with the loose bags.

I've been decluttering for 6 years. I think I am done except for some sentimental items I have avoided purging. I want the closet space but hard to let the old stuff go - but it just sits in boxes.

Karen! Your Outro was delightful! I had to rewind you at least three times to hear you say, “I’m 59” in your elderly tone of voice. It cracked me up! I turned 61 this year on May 6th, so I’m right there with ya, lol
Great organizing and rearranging in this video today. It’s rewarding to be at this point where you are able to do so, because you have decluttered so much! 😊

Oh Karen, it was a surprise to hear your daughter is flying the nest. I bet you’ll miss her and it will be emotional when she departs. Nice for her to start a new adventure though.
I loved today’s video, you are getting really well organised on the shelving now, with everything getting grouped together more logically. Brilliant work! 👏👏 I get your point about 20/20/20 being more motivating and easier for you, even though it’s the same amount of time spent overall as the 30/30. Nice you tried both methods though so you know what works for you best.
Btw have you considered moving the things from underneath the stairway to the outer walls? I say this because I think psychologically seeing the middle of the floor in any room empty, not only makes a space feel more open/bigger, but makes it more visually appealing and easier to move around in as well. Plus, I’ve noticed that the sides of the stair area have always unintentionally gathered a lot off drop items, which get piled there because the space isn’t left open and the empty boxes rubber-maids stack ends up being used as a temporary shelf. These items might be put away or dealt with more readily if the central blockage wasn’t there. Also, another suggestion is maybe consider putting the boot/shoe rack over by the winter coat storage rack as this keeps outer/footwear together. Obviously Karen, these are just my little ideas and you don’t have to adopt any of them if you don’t choose to. You do what makes sense to you and makes you happiest.

I feel you with the yard sale struggle. Mine was ok but so much stuff was still there afterwards. And I live on a bussy street so there were customers. Since I was not willing to store it in my basement any longer (and it had obviously not much value to people since they didn´t buy it for very low prices) I put it in cardbordboxes and put them by the road one by one. After a few days everything was gone (including the boxes 😅). My basement feels so open and spacious. Sometimes it´s tempting to shuffle stuff from one shelf/box to an other when it simply needs to be gone through and decluttered. 🙄 I will not buy so much little things in the future (especially decor)! Love the 20-20-20 and the 30-30. Just choose what feels right for that day or task. Hugs!

Hellooo Karen, lovely to see you as always😊
I agree, 20, 20, 20 feels much more ‘sprinty’ that suits me better no doubt. You’re right Karen, decluttering never ends so we might as well accept it.
I reckon you should go for the 60 before 60! It could be something as simple as a new perfume, a different eye shadow, socks that maybe you’d never have bought otherwise etc. 😂
As always much love and light to you.🥰🥰🥰🥰

In my studio apt I have one walk in closet with attic access. My totes and shelves are arranged in the attic around the opening so I can reach everything. It's my "basement" and does get disordered. About once a week I have to give both a reset. It's so much easier to grab a tote to bring down (mostly craft supplies) than to put back properly. Funny how we declutter then forget to take it to the car. 🌻🍄

Most of our basement storage/clutter is on shelves, but I keep putting off going through it. Who wants to be in an unfinished space, working...I really like that you keep at it, it's motivating! I have a daughter off to college in a couple months. Can you talk on a video about how you handled/handle kids moving out. Did you have a hard time with it?

Maybe 30-20-10 would work well for you. It seemed like you had good energy for the first half and then you dreaded doing another equally long session so breaking up the second half might make your brain feel better. There always seems to be around 10 minutes needed at the end of a project to clean up and put things away anyway.

Karen, did you use part of the basement as your bedroom at one time? I thought maybe that’s what you meant. That makes sense because of all the children. I even thought at one time how nice and big your basement is and that a section could be partitioned off with a rod and curtains and it would make a nice cozy and private bedroom.
