Hellooo Karen, I’ve started getting bits and pieces toward Christmas, after all once August is over it’s not far away, especially if you’re on a budget as we are now we’ve finished work. I’ve only picked up a ‘fun’ gift for each of the grown ups. It’s my grandsons birthday in September so I’ll get that event under my belt before I buy much more. Honestly Karen, I don’t think we’re ever really done with decluttering because our needs, likes and wants constantly change so I frequently go through boxes, drawers, cupboards etc on a regular basis. Plus as you say when you get decor out that’s a great time to re-evaluate the inventory. As always my lovely friend much love and light and jolly good wishes to you and yours.🥰🥰🥰
So nice when knowing you're ready to let go of one thing dominoes into you reviewing a whole category and letting more go! Dinner looked delicious--thanks for sharing.
My cat, no matter what time of day I scoop his box, he IMMEDIATELY makes a deposit.🤦🏻♀️🤣😂 I always love your declutter videos; I tend to stop your video, jump up to do my own decluttering and come back and forth between you and my own stuff! 😊❤
Awww 🥰 thank you Karen for your comment I appreciate your thoughtfulness to help me I would help you too I’am a great helper 🙏🏻🙌🏻 I will do that run the dehumidifier more I always forget
When I got to dvd decluttering, I used an old CD holder and took alllllll DVDs out of their jackets and put them in CD holder. It's been a game changer and freed up so much space. I have one small one just for fav Christmas movies and the rest are in alphabetical order in a larger case. (Yes, I trashed all the dvd covers)
I love your videos!!❤ I do get rid of my ADULT children's things. I let them store things in my basement and garage, but there is a limit. If they move or move several times and do not take those things, then they do not need to be stored with me, either. Lol😅❤😅❤
Hi Karen! What about storing tissue paper with wrapping stuff? And christmas movies in the christmas bin. The hole punches could go with office supplies and then you only have glue guns and glue sticks to put in a small bin. If you end up keeping a few seasonal movies they can go with the season that they are used in and will be find at the right time) and the few other ones could be on the bookshelf instead of taking up a whole bin. Most movies can be found online anyway. About christmas shopping, I have a shelf in a closet that is dedicated for gifts. Sometimes its regifting, some stuff are bought with a special person in mind and some just as good deals on neat stuff. Last christmas I emptied it all out and looked through it. Alot of small stuff that has been there a long time I gave away to a project that provides christmas gifts for ppl who cant afford that kind of extra things. There is always a lack of gifts for teenagers so all my stash of my nice body lotions, hairstuff, nice smelling candles, lovely bath soaps, cute socks aso got donated to that. I went out and bought some more and gave them a whole sack full of already wrapped gifts filled with nice combinations of those products. I am already looking for good deals on that kind of stuff for this years project.
You did a brilliant job with reducing your decor. 😊 My tip decor wise is stick to no more than three colour themes for your house or seasonal decor, then any items of decor that don’t fit those colour schemes can get decluttered. That purple vase for instance was a good example, it didn’t go with any other decor you showed in the video, so your eye was instinctively drawn towards getting rid of it. Anyway, you did really great overall in tweaking the boxes. Karen, these micro decluttering (one set of shelves at a time) basement videos are fantastic to watch; especially for people with a lot to declutter, but who have less time, physical ability, experience in item reduction and poor/limited concentration or motivation.
Hello Karen, I always love a great basement declutter! I did a little gasp when you added the tablespoon of table salt to replace the Kosher salt, 😮 I thought, oh no, it’s going to be too salty. I only know this now, because my son is a chef. The conversion is 50% less table salt to kosher salt. If it makes you feel any better, for me, a recipe said to add a liberal amount of salt to a marinade for ribs and they were so so salty. And it was a delayed reaction. I didn’t know until I had eaten a few bites and then it hit me! But… the ribs just fell off the bone and melted in your mouth!😂 Now I am so Leary when making recipes from scratch when it comes to salt.🙃
I've been here since your first or possibly second video , have enjoyed your journey into minimalism very much . Look forward to every one you post . Perhaps if you are not using the scented wall plugs its time to send them on . I finally did donate mine , it was a relief as it turns out im more of a candle gal . Your fall curtain valance is definetly a keeper .Good job and thanks for sharing .
Hi Karen. We have Bob’s couches too. I ordered taller prettier couch feet and also bought an adjustable center support that I screwed into the middle of the couch frame!! Now the couches are comfortable especially because we got the Bob opedic cushions.
Hi Karen, I´m still here. But I had very little time the last few weeks, so I missed some videos. My Daughter and the Baby are here and I enjoy every second with them. But since they are still sleeping I used the time to watch you declutter. 😅 I got a new couch this week and I treated myself to some new inserts. It feels so fresh. Have a nice weekend!
I love the variety of your videos. When I found your channel awhile back I binge watched a lot of your videos and you really have decluttered so much, amazing what you can accomplish a little at a time. Also, the quality of your videos is good, too.
I could be your Mama! Wonderful progress!!🎉Getting a new roof ( big storm). we have been clearing up leaf litter, and branches. half my garden was covered by a dense large crab apple 🍎 tree. we have had bears going through the back of property. I know because. I stepped in some bear scat😂
I always buy 1 size smaller than my pillow inserts so nice and full. Also I buy pillow covers and reuse inserts. Thanks for all your great videos it really helps
Yes, I never understand why recipes will call for 3 teaspoons when 1 tablespoon is more efficient. That was a great declutter... the trick is not bringing in too much new stuff.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness! I am your non cooking, would be grossed out by cat poop, faithful follower!😉Absolutely adore your decluttering videos!
Sweet Karen, so enjoyed this one! Just a fyi-there are different opinions on the exact amount(if you want to research) they usually say to 1\2 the amount, but I use about 1\4 tsp table salt to 1 tsp kosher salt. Kosher salt "sticks" to meat better and I think makes it taste better seasoned. Hope this helps.
Always like your videos. I envision the stuff I have for the seasons and holidays when you’re going through yours. Also the color on the video is great. Idk you got new camera or light but it seems different somehow
If recipe calls for kosher salt & you use regular you use less then called for amount. You Google ratio amount but get some kosher salt it taste better in my opinion.😊
Maybe a dvd wallet that held just the discs and could be kept upstairs would be good? I'm considering switching to that myself. Thanks for sharing. I'm always inspired by your progress. ❤
A few years ago I got rid of all my cd cases and put the CDs in a holder. I really regret it as I don't listen to them as much with them tucked away and all looking the same. Just a thought, maybe keep the cases stored in case you change your mind
I suggest you put the 2 selves in your living room on the other side of your picture behind the couch. It will balance your small bird shelf (and maybe be more room for birds😊) I love your varied content! ❤
Hi Karen we are decluttering the basement ( it is so horrible dealing with that old clutter ) our basement is so musty smelling it is not finish or nice on the other hand it not to bad but you can not store anything good down there my question to you is have ran across musty odors and do you get rid of it and items you want to save how do you get rid of musty odors ????
I would think a dehumidifier could help or getting something like RID which takes moisture from the air. As you declutter you may find some things that are mildewed or moldy but I think you might have some moisture issues. I hope you can have some good air circulation as you work! I wish I could come by and help! ❤️
You might also want to think about getting some of those large vacuum seal bags for the pillows and blankets. It will shrink them down and give you more room
I put my litter boxes inside totes and cut a hole in the side. There’s room to leave the scoop in the tote and all I have to do is take to lid off your clean them. Nothing to see and they don’t kick litter all over the floor

I've been here since the beginning 😊 I also have cats so I'm immune to anything they do loving the videos I'm also 59 so slowing down too xx
Thanks so much for sticking with me!! We clearly have a lot in common!! ❤️

Yes I notice my cats loving to ruin a clean box too!! 😂😂
We got rid of all of our DVD boxes and put the discs into a CD zip up wallet, we cleared so much space by doing this from Emily in the UK
Thanks for more inspiration!! I’m going into my basement today.
You got this! 💪💪

Yay! Thank you! 😎
I'm 49 and disabled. If i can't tidy up a room in a few minutes, it's time to declutter that room.
Yes! Words to live by!! 😃
I love all your content - you inspire me to be more grateful every day
You’ve made my day, Angela! ❤️
Instead of buying more pillows just buy the covers. Less space but you can still decorate or change up the colors. Work smarter not harder.
She does do this.
I have started doing this and oh my goodness what a difference it saves so much space in the home

Adding a peeled russet potato to the over salted pot will soak up some of the salt and save the dish. Toss the potato after it has cooked.

I have cats and usually after I clean their potties, one or both of them "needs" to use it. 😂
It’s a cat thing for sure! 😂
You can use the big happy planner punch for the smaller sized planner also. (If you want to declutter the smaller one)
Couldn’t agree more from74 years old!!

I have 3 cats and definitely would not be grossed out 😸😸😸
When a recipe says salt free broth and then has salt as an added ingredient and you use a broth with salt, skip the extra salt. 😊
Where did you get the owl shower curtain? My daughter loves owls
On Amazon!
I have 3 cats and I’m the one responsible for their toilet so it wouldn’t have bothered me 😂😂😂
😂🤣😂
I have 3 cats too! Cat 💩 does not bother me.
That basement must be the bane of your existence! 😂
🤣😂 It can be! It’s coming along though!!
yes I have 2 cats and I know what you mean😂
My cats come to use the litter box soon as I am trying to finish scooping. 🤦🏻♀️
Mine do that most times too!

Hi .2🐱🐱
🌻🍄
I know it’s not necessary, and extra money spent, but it would look so nice if you had matching containers.
Yes it would! Maybe someday… 🤔
Please move your mic away from the pillows that are in the clear storage bags. When u remove the pillows from these bags, the sound is SO loud.
I feel like you skipped the sugar for your recipe. Maybe that would help balance some of the salt.
Please be done with the plastic bags …invest in some more cleare bins for extra pillows, cushions, comforters ect!!!!!
Using vacuum sealed storage bags saves you tons of space and protects your items from dust and mildew. It's a very popular storage solution.
