Your pom grooming vids are some of the best I've seen! Thank you! Would love it if you did a super through video on just the paws & leg trim. This is great but a bit brief for us novices. And can't actually see the paw sometimes. Thank you!
Would love to know details on the kind of combs and brushes needed. For instance what tooth length should the comb have and what is that curved brush you are using. Getting a new pom in a few days and what to get the right grooming tools.
+Sue Lambert Hi Sue, I am using a greyhound comb or at least that style. I use medium fine. With Poms a bigger comb with wider teeth will work well also. Make sure the teeth are not too thick or close together. They need to be wide apart on at least half the comb. As for the brush I only recommend one and that is the universal brush. Easy to find, you can even buy it on Amazon.
what do you do with a cottony coat pomeranian? my groomer said she had never seen fur on a pom like mine has,it really feels like cotton candy and I really don't know how to handle his coat anymore :(
+Heather Quinn I use a paste shampoo called ORVIS and I condition with Pantene human conditioner or for tangles I use T. H. E. stuff. I don't think the shampoo and conditioner makes a lot of difference. The exception is the THE because it really gets tangles out and makes the coat super silkie.
Such a great video. Can you tell me the lengths of both of the curved shears you are using please? --The one for the paws --And the curved one you used for the rear and other areas. I am in Vegas and unfortunately cannot find a groomer that knows anything about grooming poms. Mine is from champion stock on both sides and I just want a show cut like this, I don't want them botching a cut like they seem to d every time here with others dogs, so I will learn to do it myself!
@@pattywirth2518 thanks for replying! I got both sizes. I have this incredible pedigree black and tan pom born from two incredible showdog lines and no one can groom him so he looks like a pom should!! So I've decided to just learn. Practice! And not take it too seriously he's adorable even if I mess up and have to take him in 🤗
How often should you brush a Pomeranian? I brush mine every day and I'm afraid I've damaged her coat. Her parents and siblings have a fluffy coat, but hers is very thin. :(

It is genetics, they have thick leg coat or not, you can use products to make it thicker, you cannot make it grow thicker. You can try show stoppers that is a good coat supplement.
You should never, ever comb or brush a Pom's hair dry! As a groomer, you should know this. It pulls and breaks hair. Always brush up from the tail from the back...and spritz the dog! ouch! You never ever pull up with a comb like that. Poor Dog!
+NANETTE RUTH I have been grooming for 45 years and grooming and showing Pomeranians since 2000. Dry brushing does not break off the coat, I even dry brush poodles who have more delicate hair and need to grow a very long coat. I have 14 champion Pomeranians to my name and have been complimented by top show handlers on the condition of my Pom coats. Before you trim a Pom you have to pull up the coat with a comb or you will not get a good cut. If you attended a dog show you would see top handlers pulling the coat up with a comb, sometimes even in the ring. Many top show handlers carry a comb in the ring. They PULL UP THE COAT WITH A COMB. I have seen Noble, Curtis and Bill Mcfadden do this. Go to a show and watch the best of the best groom. I speak from all these years of experience, what is your experience? So we agree to disagree. What I recommend does not damage coat and I get excellent results. I am also not hurting the dog by combing, Poms need to be combed.
People complaining about the combing and brushing in these kinds of videos are the people who leave their dogs severely matted at the groomers

+SparklePomeranian check out the video of the pet pom groom, I spend a lot of time on the foot.

OMG that Pom is so cute!
Camera angle makes this video pretty much unhelpful.
While I love the groom, I wish you would move the camera back so I could see the whole dog and the feet
+Laura Carbone You might want to look at my pet grooming video, also has feet in it.
Very informative! I'm a Pom mom and this video really helped me out thank you 😊

Sue Lambert she's also using a small oscar frank slicker brush. Be sure to get the curved one
Wow rough combing. Beautiful pom.
Does Serafina Pomeranians still exist?? I tried to find them on google and FaceBook but seem to be having trouble on finding them :(

Looking for decent shampoo and conditioner. I use leave in conditioner from GNC. Are GNC products recommended? What to you recommend?

I think the longer are 7 or 8 inch. The monks are shorter, like maybe 6?

"Brushing will not hurt the coat, brush away. Some dogs have thinner coats than others.

Even though the breed standard is 3-7 pounds the ideal weight for showing is 4-6 pounds
Ours is about 2kg or 4 pounds and she is tiny
Do you have any tips on making a poms fur thicker on there legs
It is genetics, they have thick leg coat or not, you can use products to make it thicker, you cannot make it grow thicker. You can try show stoppers that is a good coat supplement.

What kind of pom is he?
AKC registered Pomeranian. He was a show dog

combing that poor baby kinda rough....feel sorry for the poor little thing
I thought she was rough too.
When you're doing a video of grooming the feet, aim at the feet rathe than the should and hip.
