    They look beautiful. So, 8 carburetor throats for an 8 cylinder engine? Not exactly miserly fuel consumption then!

      Thanks. The engine is a monster I guess.

    Excellent work - and I know it's a resto, but am I the only one 'grieving' the loss of that beautiful patina??

    I'm restoring a 1967 mustang convertible. That's a 1 of 1 car. If I tore down the transmission to its individual components case, bellhousing, tailshaft, and servo covers. Would you be able to restore them?

      As long as they'll fit in my cabinet, it should be no issue. They would need to be degreased beforehand.

    Nice job. I agree on the brass parts..very nice transformation. Ever experiment with hydrophilic's on the view glass in the booth?

    • @ArnoldsDesign
      @ArnoldsDesign  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Warren. I haven't tried them. My wiper blade is pretty worn out which doesn't help. I had a small rinse stream on my last blaster which made a big improvement. I will attach it when I get time. Btw, I installed the 3x3 screen on my dry cabinet. It's working well so far, and my view isn't obstructed. I will be putting up a vid about it one of these days.

      @@ArnoldsDesign Yeah, you were dead-on correct about your snow-fence analogy..that was intuitively brilliant I thought. I believe 3x3 is what we use in ours and it works fairly well..better than bug screen anyway. The stream of water seems like a good idea, but I wonder if looking through a sheet of water down glass won't produce some weird lens effects?? Wondering if the hydrophilic path is also the way to go..what if it beads the water..but leaves the particulate outside the bead (stuck to the glass)? Hmm...

      @@wxfield The water spray is a little distracting, but the wiper takes care of it quickly. I'm not too familiar with hydrophilic treatments to glass.

    Really nice work, I see you sandblasted first, doesnt that scratch the soft aluminum surface in this rare carburetor? Can I get the same finish if it's only vapor blasted? Can you maybe estimate how much I can charge for a similar job, congrats

    • @ArnoldsDesign
      @ArnoldsDesign  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks. I use very fine abrasive for preblasting. It doesn't distort any details or fine lettering. In fact, it won't even remove fine scratches under 400 grit size. If you vapor blast only, it may or may not get the same result, depending on the surface condition beforehand. Heavily oxidized parts should be preblasted. Regarding price, as of right now I typically charge $100 for a larger auto carb like this, though that included the brass restoration, and the hand cleaning of the bores.

      @@ArnoldsDesign Thanks, exellent info, I'm from South America, can't get glass bead over here so do you think using very fine crushed glass could get a similar finish? I'm currently making a glass crushing mill and meshing it may get different grades, thanks again for your awsome info

      @edisonsanchez1337 4 роки тому

      @@ArnoldsDesign If I was to clean and polish a manganese alloy piece, do you recommend to vapor blast or sandblast, but again I don't count with glass bead, just different mesh grades of bottle crushed glass, thanks again

    • @ArnoldsDesign
      @ArnoldsDesign  4 роки тому

      @@edisonsanchez1337 Crushed glass will give a matte finish only. Is importation of glass bead prohibited in your country? For magnesium polishing, remove the harder outer layer with vapor blasting or dry blasting, and then polish.

    Arnold your work is amazing I also work with sandblasting plus this perfect water finish I watch the video I tried to assemble it but I'm not having success in that part because I haven't seen this machinery yet. I assembled everything with a pistol pump, I used at3 sand, glass grit, but I was not successful. could you give me some information thank you for your attention

      @@ArnoldsDesign I have to clean cylinder heads, but I don't want to spent time lookimg for media in holes and threads. Is it possible to use only degreaser and air?

    • @ArnoldsDesign
      @ArnoldsDesign  4 роки тому

      @@erictuma You can use water and detergent alone, but it will clean only and not as fast. Cleaning media from threads is easy. You just have an air gun with a needle nose attached to it. They are widely available. You can blow out the holes and recesses very quickly with one.
