Good on you! I have Classic 500 and I did the same mods, and I put a Hitchcocks pea shooter exhaust on as well.
Interesting. I haven't heard of the pea shooter. I'm considering the shorter bottle exhaust, but don't know if it will affect the mixture. They make an EFI module for aftermarket exhausts that deletes the O2 sensor I think, but I can't find a lot on how well it works, or it it's really even necessary.
The air filter cover glued itself to the cover because it got wet, then dried onto the cover. I now use a DNA filter, and shaved off the lip as you did. Next time I have the rear wheel out, I will address the issue of the air inlet boot. RE - making men into mechanics since 1901!
I use 15W50 Diesel oil with a JASO rating of MA (Penrite Diesel 15 - good Australian Company) in my 2021 500 Classic.
That's interesting about the filter. I wondered what happened. I bought it used with low miles, and it did spend some time outside before I got it. Now it sits in my office looking at me.
One would think a company based in a country that has monsoons, could design an air intake system that keeps the water out !
😊
On my 2018 Classic 500 I use a standard NGK plug and it's working just fine. I use Castrol 15W 50 oil with no issues and original RE oil filter and a standard air filter. I also made a home made by me booster plug for my bike and it's working just great. I have been riding my bike just over 21000 km or 13048 miles if you like, with no issues what so ever. The Classic 500 is a great bike and I love it! Take care.
This bike has a measly 28hp but a large dose of torque 41.3nm and its that torque you feel that drags you up the hill effortlessly. It is the Torque that makes this bike such a sweetheart to ride. Cheers
I've owned alot of bikes but their is something about this bike that make it fun to ride
It is. I really enjoy it. I think it's the low end torque. It pulls like crazy in any gear.
Increase in power. Don’t know and who really cares. The Bullet 500 isn’t a performance bike in the first place.
But mine surely runs better with the DNA air filter. And thanks for the tips, guess I’ll have to install mine even more air tight...
Haven’t changed the spark plug yet, mine runs with the plug with double electrodes, and it backfires a bit sometimes. Irritating.
First jobs in the spring 😊
I have an RT 1150, when I love , but since I bought my 350 Classic I have to keep dusting cobwebs off the BM.
I just did the K&N upgrade on my Classic 500 and yes indeed, that rubber lip has to come off. I used some black, urethane-based sealant to glue on the metal adapter plate and it mounted in nicely. These bikes are so much fun to ride! Cheers from New Mexico.
Nice. They are great to ride.
