Was the muffler off of your Ram 1500 less effective as a noise attenuator; or was the intake box that much more convenient to mount (and integrates a filter)
Yes, the outside filter box is quieter, and provides cleaner air.
I know it is more work but why not put the compressor out there?
I would, but the shed in the video is full of other things right now so I can't move it there yet.

Putting an 800+ lb compressor in a shed isn't something you "just do". Plus I need to get the shed.
@@ArnoldsDesign If I can move a 1,200 lb mill around by myself, you can find a way to move an 800 lb compressor.
I weigh 165 and not muscular. Levers, come-along hoists, and roller pins. Look at videos of how professional riggers move machinery.
Keep in mind the intake noise is only a small part of the overall mechanical sound.
I pretty much silenced the intake noise of my 5HP I-R unit with a fancy muffler I fabricated, but the remaining mechanical noise from the pump is still annoying.
When I move to new digs, I will for sure be putting the compressor in a small Tuff-Shed or similar.
