- We'll do a walk around and test drive of our 1979 Ford F350 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel project. We outline all the custom features. It's done!
This truck was built with a heavy-duty military theme and uses a 7.3L Ford Power Stroke Turbo Diesel that was removed from a 2000 Ford Excursion and transplanted into a 1979 Ford F350 single rear wheel 4x4 truck.

Love everything BUT the mirrors.
Kinda like them actually
Besides the fail on the mirrors, this was excellent execution. Nice job fellas!
I was thinking that same thing
you lost me at the mirrors dude deleting wing windows for any reason is sacrilege
And it also loses you a lot of very important visibility, making it more dangerous to drive.
nice truck and i got a 95 powerstroke ( rebuilt my self ), but those mirrors are horrible ..... thats my only complaint
I own a '79 F-350 & it steers excellently with OE parts. It has an added set of leaf springs at both axles. Yes, it rides like a truck, but that is why you have an old Ford 1 ton 4x4. Have driven it over 100,000 miles, both on & off road. Lived in Montana & worked at a farm/ranch, so you can guess what the off road was like. Highway miles were all at speeds over 70 MPH. Also hauled MANY loads over a ton in the bed, and eve towed a fully loaded bale wagon with my home built rear bumper (weighs over 500lbs) when the tractor broke down. All that needed to be done was a set of poly body mount & spring bushings, new column bearings, a Flaming River steering connecter shaft, a good steering box, & OE replacement drag link & tie rods. Add in replacement sway bar bushings & end links on both axles. The one thing that you didn't address is the weak Dana 60 rear end. If your client uses it for a real truck much, he will go through a bunch of wheel bearings, and with a great amount of torque applied, the rear pinion bearing will be toast. A Sterling axle from a later model 3/4 or 1 ton with matching gear ratio will directly bolt in. The rear frame section is the same up to 1996. The axle from the Excursion would have worked also.
Plastic mirrors are my only complaint the ones it rolled of the line with are just fine imo👍🇺🇸 great truck anyway.
Honestly one of the most beautiful trucks I have ever seen
I agree with this dude under me. Put the stock mirrors on that thing. Badass!!
I like the original mirrors. Other than that it is bad ass!!
lot of money into this truck, I like, not too fond of the mirrors tho, but its an e for effort
A second gen bronco set up like this would be sweet too!
BolognaTheTiger that is the reason I’m looking for a bronco now.
I could stare at that beautiful 7.3 all day long.
Very nice build. I do not understand why you would waste the tool box by putting an air tank inside. That tank could have been mounted loads of places and left the toolbox usable.
Boy that truck is beautiful! I wish I could have that done to my 72! Gorgeous!
Thanks 👍
Oh man I want one. nothing sexier than an old style ford and with a newer diesel even better!!!!
Better watch out gm might recall the the steering box and mirrors
i was just coming down here to make fun of him for not being man enough to steer a ford
It's beautiful, apart from the mirrors. I almost liked the tape for labels I would have had tape labels painted =P
Its a nice trick. Not a fan of the mirrors though. I'm swapping a 96 7.3 into my 77 f-250 S-cab short bed right now. Its not easy lol.
Man wing windows are the best, to bad they were deleted.
Who's working the camera......................Darth Vader?
mapleblackdrums lmao
I've owned over two dozen 73-79 Ford trucks alone, not including all the other era and brands of trucks. Point is, the steering on 78/79 F250/350 trucks is not a bad setup. Yes they don't ride like a new truck but if you have all the tie rod ends, drag link ends and steering shaft u-joint all nice and new/tight then those old Fords handled just fine.
The problem is, those trucks ran forever and after numerous decades and hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of miles and poor maintenance, those who buy an old 78/79 Ford are sure to end up with a truck with worn out steering. It's not too bad that the steering is about the biggest issue with old Fords considering it's biggest competitor, Chevy, was known through the 70's and 80's as the maker out of the big three with the weakest frames. I've seen so many 73-87 Chevy trucks that had the steering gearbox rip right out of the framerail, the frame snap and the truck fold like an arm cot, and seen so many leaf spring hangers rip right out of the frame.
Oh, also, those mirrors look terrible and so do the cheap rubber hood straps. I've always said that when they stopped putting vent windows on trucks was when they stopped making real, rugged, manly trucks that can stand the test of time; and of course you would remove the vent windows from the truck.
Yah those mid 70's chevy trucks were just garbage!
I would love to see your truck's
mirrors probably should've stayed with the classic stainless steal butt other than that this truck is sick as fuck!
WOW!!! i wasnt expecting this when i clicked on it. Damn nice job!!
Thanks, appreciate that!
Chevy guy here, beautifully done truck! you the hell didn't like his video?!
I would have done it a little different but that’s just personal preference stuff. I am very impressed with this build.
you guys build one of my favorite trucks in the world!!! im 18 years old and if I could ever win the lado I will so have u guys build me this exact same truck!!! u guys build my favorite truck in the world!!! ill do anything to have this truck let alone just to drive it!!!!
That's an amazing build my friend very good job. I always wanted to do this on a 4 door 76 or so high boy. Again very nice work I'm an old body man and painter I've had done it for over 30 yrs. I can tell by the details that it's a quality job. Might be a few things I'd change but that would just be personal preference not anything else. Awsome job.
Thanks Todd Ray, appreciate it!
F all the haters. You did a top notch job on this build. Its sweet bro.
Not liking something because of our personal preference isn't hating so fuck you asshat
What an absolutely beautiful job you did on this. Amazing truck this is what dreams are made of!
Very slick build!
Truck looks great but chevy mirrors really the old ones painted black would have looked awesome and then the interior if someone goes mudding then they have to worry about cleaning the leather and having the factory seat in there would allow three people to fit not just two
This is the coolest build I've seen
Gorgeous truck! Love all the work you put into it!! The only thing I didn't care for were the door panels.....the wrap you guys did looks bad.....other than that LOVE IT!
That rear bumper is perfect
Crazy amount of work! Well done.
Look awesome, great job!!! Liked the theme of the truck and the dash set up too. Personally though, gotta agree with the others, the mirrors don't fit with the look and theme, think the old style ones, or just smaller style mirror would of fit better. Props on the fab though to make those new style mirror's work. Keep up the beautiful work.
I've been waiting for you guys to finish this truck for years, awesome job great to see it completed.
Well done. I would not have put the unnecessary Jeep hood latches on, but that’s just a personal preference.
The Jeep hood latches were required because the factory hood latch was deleted because of Intercooler and radiator clearance. Thanks for the comment.
Nice truck !
Thanks appreciate it
Nice truck but gm parts on a ford, nope!
Your truck is sweet pal that's one beast off road truck good job
Great video bro, but the camera movement inside the vehicle while driving it about had me sea sick!, Either way holy cow, what a sweet '79 F350!
my dream truck
could've put the new f250 mirrors but still nice truck
That is a fantastic truck. One little thing I'd change is I'd make some covers for the front fog lights that fit in the round holes and then have a little lip like the old military black out lights. It would make the fog lights look less like a square peg in a round hole and would also make it look a little more military. But that's it. Very well done. I'm in the middle of dropping a '98 3/4 ton chevy drive train into my '66 gmc. Vortec big block in old metal should be a bit of fun when it's done. Solid front axle of course.
PERFECT BUILT!!!!
Hey thanks!
That is a lovely thing to behold. Oh well back to reality and my old 97 landrover Discovery. Top work guys.
This is beyond awesome .
Sweet truck
It's an awesome truck! Great job guys!
Very nice, 73-79 ford my fav trucks of all time, I think the factory mirrors look better than the Chevy ones, myself I'd hate loosing the wing window but I'm weird like that. other wise well done, I like something a bit different and this truck is
i would have liked to see the excursions tow mirrors or a newer superduty's tow mirrors personally.
Very nice just don't dig the side view mirrors
Definitely one of the best builds I've came across UA-cam! very nice job!
love my 7.3 cant kill it.
what a great truck!
cool old truck nice clean build great job
Very impressive build.
That is a awesome truck!
I like everything but the gauge cluster far to busy for me a digital set up with multi function would have made it way less busy and distracting. I'm sure that was the customers choice so its what they get. Very nice build and would be super happy driving that rig.
Very cool! Very unique
Back to the drawing board with the mirrors those things look goofy
Nice build!
Once again GREAT JOB !!!
What a Truck
Beautiful truck!
Nice ride
Nice job!
Thanks!
soooooo awesome, great job!!
I like the interior!
great truck!! love what you've done
This is ma dream car! Damn!
headliner= god mode
dude bunch of people hating that's one BAD ASS FUCKEN FORD!!! that's my dream truck some day I have a 79 short bed 4x4 that I wanna drop a 5.9 or or 7.3 on... nice job guys really bad ass
amazing truck
Nice build, that’s a ton of work!
Excellent truck.
The smoker mirrors are a must!! But it is amazing, I’m sure the person who’s gonna own it won’t appreciate it like your average joe wrencher
I am about to start the same conversion. I just bought a 77 ford and I have a 05 ford excursion 4x4 frame with 6.0. I am thinking about taking the body and just transferring it to the frame since there is nothing wrong with the frame. We pulled the body off and put it on another frame.
It's a nice pickup but I would've done things different to make things easier to use. Like that license plate holder. I wouldn't like that because it's not permanently mounted and just clips onto the winch. I don't like the rear bumper because with that angle there's less surface area to place your foot vs a more square bumper. I also would've made the gauges and those multiple, multiple switches look a little more stock vs looking like you're in a race car. The hood latch looks a little tacky. And I loved that you're trying to go for a Military theme but from all of my years while serving I never saw stenciling like that before. All the lettering was white and a different size and style of font. And where it's Olive Drab Green is too shiny all the OD Green I've ever seen had a matte finish. And those mirrors would have to go and reinstall the wing window. To delete the wing window there's a company that makes delete kits to turn the entire door glass a one piece like on modern pickups. But this is my opinion. Everyone is different and I am not looking for anyone to debate me or hate on what I said. Each person has a different taste.
I always wanted to do the same conversion, but using a crew cab 79' four doors with a short flatbed...
Sweetie job
Thanks
Nice work wow!!!
Holy cow, that's some truck porn right there!!
Very cool truck
I like it.
I saw a lifted truck on youtube, a bronco, it had blocks between axles and springs...they were about 5" long, must have twisted horribly when braking or accelerating!
Omg, the dashboard looks like the cockpit of an aircraft.
Man that is slick clean, VERY NICE JOBBY!
What do you think it sold for patrick
I've always wanted to turn my 79 into a powerstroke.
cool truck, I own a tan 1979 f-150 custom, 4 speed 4X4 351M myself..and I liked your style till you got to the Chevy mirrors and the burgundy leather interior..didnt match..but still a neat truck..
you guys still in business
The only thing I don't like so far is just the mirrors
oh boy, love that sound!
The motor sounds fantastic for a diesel V8.
Nice truck
Thats one fine truck
Thanks
Amazing
awesome Rig ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You know, theres no reason to restore and customize and old truck with another manufacturers things. There wouldn't have been no problem to swap over the ford steering, ford tow mirrors, and I think it's really fucked to do the mirrors. Wing windows were an awesome thing that shouldn't have gone away but for "safety" they had to go.
It’s not your truck though is it
I agree, no need to mix manufacturers here.
@@dantereimann8440 just what i was thinking you build yours how you want it. He can build his how he wants to and I'll do mine my way.
wow thats cool
