I've seen highlights of 63-65 and they were all in color. I'm surprised this film footage is mostly Black and White. I'd love to see those films uploaded. For that matter where are the Highlight reels of the 1981- 83 seasons? Why are all those old tapes stashed away collecting dust and possibly during to dust in some vault somewhere for over 40 years? The University should upload those old Tom Osborne shows online.
Nebraska had allot of good Running Backs in the 60's. However, I don't think any of Bob's teams had a 1000 yard rusher until like 67 or 68? That was I believe Ben Gregeory or maybe it was Dick Davis? With that T- Formation allot of guys carried the ball. Plus the players for the most part went both ways. Playing both offense and defense. The T was sort of a predecessor of the Wishbone. Back in the early 80's I saw these hour long full color highlight reels on 16 Millimeter of most of the 60's teams and highlights were just amazing. Those should be made available on DVD and Blu-ray. Just like the 80's and 90's. I can't believe there are no highlight reels of the 1983 Scoring Explosion on UA-cam or anywhere else on-line that I'm aware of?
There was no Herbie Husker in the 60's and well into the 70's. The Mascot was Harry Husker and looked completely different. What is this Herbie Nonsense? That's a false narrative. Never liked Herbie all that much to start with. I was hoping we would bring back "The Cosmic Cob" we had briefly in 1982. That was a cool Mascot!
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd actually like to see this years team lineup in the old T-Formation a few times and see what happens? Does anybody know how to defend against that type of offense anymore? It might catch teams off guard. This old footage looks like it is being played at the wrong speed. Way to slow. Uhg, background music on this video is pretty horrible and certainly doesn't fit in with the 1960's at all.
