  • This video describes the next steps in getting your machine setup for carving once you have completed your mechanical and electronic build for your kit.
This video follows through using our Commander software to setup you limit switches, setup homing and set soft limits on your machine. For those GRBL users who are not using our commander software a link can be found here: www.cnc3d.com.au/commander

    Hi CNC3D Team.
Not related directly to this video (a very helpful one), but could you make an updated video about your QueenBee XYZ upgrade kit ?
I watched the " I'll Do It Myself " videos but i'm not able to understand the actual kit contents.
For example, how many limit switches are on the kit ?
The limit switch supports are on the kit ?
The drag chain supports are included or we have to print them (there are some .step or .stl file for them or something in Thingiverse ?) ?
The printed guides that " I'll Do It Myself " uses to align the rail guides are on the kit ?
There is a installation manual ?
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for reaching out. We include 3 limit switch mounts, 4 x rail install guides, mini shims, Z type delrin nut block to replace X nut blocks with the plate set only option.
We do not have a detailed installation manual only the download in the folder. Josh Haywood has done the videos to aid in installation. It is likely your best instruction set. If you need any help with the build, please reach out to us on Facebook (facebook.com/cnc3dau)

Has this controller been ported to run on a Raspberry Pi? I like the interface a lot better than the one from Openbuilds and I am using a Raspberry Pi 400 to manage my CNC Router. I am using the Twister Operating system as it is much more efficient that Raspbian and Ubuntu.

      Thanks for the feedback:)
It is written in .NET framework so it is still exclusive to Windows OS. Microsoft is focusing on cross platform development so this may change in the future.

why is the homing different to the standard axis control? Also, why didnt you enable the hardlimit?

      Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by different.
Hard limits on most hobby machines can suffer false triggers from vibration. We use an optoisolator solution with our controllers but we've still seen false triggers. Soft limits essentially make all of that redundant. All of our machines have 1 limit switch per axis only.

@@cnc3d at the start of the video you setup the jog mechanism, why is it that the homing seems to be reversed compared to the jog mechanism?

HI. I'm using a small cnc machine, chinese 3010 pro, and my machine don't have a limit switches. Homing is not working in my machine, ore I can't set it. when I start the job it goes very far from starting point, even if I zero the job. can you do some help please. I like the software very much, is more easy and user friendly than Candle, but either I have to buy limit switches ore have to use Candle till I sort this out. Thanks

There's a few things that can cause this:
      - You may have another program running that is consuming the port. i.e: another sender program
      - You are not connecting to the right COM port. try another
      - Your version of GRBL does not send a valid response to $I
      Check these and advise. :)
