In this CNC Tech-tip video, we are talking all about limits and offsets. from the feedback we've received, this seems to be a bit of a grey area.
This video covers all aspects of CNC limits including limit switch types, soft and hard limits and how you can easily leverage offsets (G54-G59).

Good explanation, I also noticed you have normally open limit switches, dangerous should a wire be cut or come off, you don't know, but its covered by the soft limits. After homing, my machine pulls of 1mm, I set this position in G28 with G28.1(fusion 360 always puts in this command) but I think I might try playing with G54-G59. I'm new to CNC and been playing about with a lot of programs, UGS, eSender, and Candle that came with the machine amongst others but CNC commander seams much more complete and at the top of the list so far.
Our limit switches are actually normally closed. We use optoisolators on our Nighthawk that inverts the limit type. :)
You are spot on! Always use NC switches where possible.

Hello.kann I use nighthawk for a big volume Maschine 2000x1200 cm .what would be the downsize outer speed .thanks
@ST_Technik absolutely you can. The machine can be any size.
Regarding speed, very high. We have run a Nighthawk at 30m/m before without issue.
@@cnc3d thanks.which stepper motor would you recommend,Nema 23 or 34 ? Thank you for your support
@ST_Technik if using the full Nighthawk, nema23 is recommended.
If using the standalone Nighthawk card, it can be coupled to any stepper driver you like, in which case any stepper can be used.
If you prefer nema34, go with a standalone Nighthawk card at a higher voltage for best results.
