i cant summon spirits in this fight.....how did you do it?
i dont have the summon symbol in either stage of the fight
What sword did you use?
@@rodmongodwood That's peculiar since I was able to. Are you sure that you weren't running out of mana before it began or that your summons cost too much? If that isn't the solution I am not sure what it is.
@@HundredAcres no like i said i dint even have the "Grave" summon symbol on the left side of the screen
@@rodmongodwood That is really weird. And you didn't summon a Co-Op partner right? If not, I am honestly not sure.
Another option for summoning your spirits is putting them on your pouch quickslot and hitting summon the moment you reduce her hp to zero in phase one before the transition, so that way you enter phase two with them already on the field.
Exactly where i have mine binded.
Why ? I had the spirits the whole first part and the second?
@@mooserocka522 sometimes a chandelier drops in phase 1 that can do substantial damage to your summons, especially if you went in with them unupgraded like me. Just helps make sure you go into phase 2 with them at full hp.
This advice just made it 100% easier on the second phase! Thanks!
Wouldn't they get hit when she beams you in phase two?
If you are a mage USE ROCK SLING. You get that from the Street of Sages Ruins. It does normal physical damage
This did it for me ty so much
You may have just made my day!
STREETS OF RAGE.....How my brain reads that every single time
@@josemi8828 No worries :)
@@JadaKilla It really is helpful! T-T so great when you are a weak lil boi like my char.
The tip about being aggressive and staggering her in Phase 2 is key, without that she will quickly wear you down with her barrage of spells and summons. The wolf summons are extremely useful at keeping her busy, would also recommend upgrading them before this fight if possible. I think the long run from the closest site of Grace to the boss also makes this somewhat annoying especially the mages and their spells along the way.
Where is that closest site of Grace you mentioned? I ran from the Grace Site where I fought Radagon's Red Wolf, cross the beam to the path with rolling giant ball, and took the elevator. No mages encountered so far (as long as you didn't aggro them since they are far away from the Grace Site).
@@Morgru i use this path to get to her also, way easier dodging the ball than trying to dodge 4 mages
@@dimitrijetokovic5652If you go up to where the ball comes from (ladder behind locked door on left - you can jump on the window sill from the courtyard), and kill the mages on top it stops the ball from spawning
Just for posterity, you don't even need to dodge the ball. Just before you fight the Carian knight, there's a ladder up to a room with three sorcs and a pumpkinhead. Kill the sorcs and there's no more ball trap. You can just run unimpeded to the elevator each time after that. If you send the elevator down after the ride you don't even have to wait for that next time.
No matter what you play it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to run straight up to her right off the bat so her beam go straight over your head. Cannot emphasize how much easier that makes this fight.
Edit : This apparently helped a lot of people out (including me). Glad I finally contributed something to the community lol.
Really good tip, thanks!
I beat her first try after using this tip thanks!
YO THANK YOU! This was a huge tip. Got her first try after seeing this
Very underrated comment. I beat her first try too!
Running sideways prevents you from getting hit by that
Her 2nd magic phase can be tough! Reminds me of the Shadows of Yharnam fight in Bloodborne where if you dont kill them quick the fight becomes like 2x harder. Same with Rennala's second phase, if you dont bum rush her and kill her quick her summons/magic will destroy you
Shadows of Yharnam was brutal!
1. Spawn in your dogs right at the end of the first phase, they’ll be there when the second phase starts and they can take most of the aggro
2. USE ROCK SLING IF YOU HAVE AN INT BUILD, IT DESTROYS HER
3. If you can’t use rock sling, use a bleed weapon
She’s a cake walk if you do those 3 things
I had decent success with the skeleton spearmen summon as well. They can keep her staggered while you spam jumping attacks to break her stance
I can’t do shit, she is constantly spamming spells and never gives me an opening I’m constantly dodging. The more I progress through this game the more dogshit it becou
@@owen0566 Your summon is there to take some of the aggro off of you to give you an opening. Spawn in your summon before she goes to the second phase and then dodge her initial magic beam and you’re set. She gets staggered extremely easily
@@gabesoto9301 that’s what I’ve been doing and she spams that honing shit and the crystal bs constantly. And when all of my summons are on her she always does that giant moon spell and floats away.
shes also easy with the +6 sword of st trinia, took her out in about 7ish hits
For people dedicated to melee with no summons and no spirits, run STRAIGHT into her and jump attack. Most, if not all, her magic attacks will shoot straight over you, even the homing attacks and the shotgun blast. I think it's because youre actually behind her wand, so the attacks dont track backwards.
i did with no summons also and pretty sure u can only jump the ice spells i would have to roll after jump attacks cuz her spells still homing in
So that was a fucking lie
Ok so yeah the jump can be a bit difficult to i-frame. In that case just roll straight forward into her spells. The homing attacks cant track backwards. The only thing you have to watch out for are the close range propeller attack and the summons. I soloed at level 30, +2 special weapon. If youre lower level, you may struggle more.
Liar ahead
@@dimitrijetokovic5652 this made me spit out my hot tea lmao
Hmm in your video she barely summoned any spirits during the fight. In mine she summons a dragon, troll, dogs, and like 5 others.
I know like wtf????? When I fight her she starts spamming summons!
Thats y he tell you to summon wolves , and go super aggro so that she's being interrupted , and dosen't get the chance to summon 5 spirits .
Yeah you can't get close to her because she disappears and summons something all the time, remaining invincible throughout the fight. Snore fest.
The run to this boss was more annoying
This is possibly the most beautiful boss fight in the game. Honestly got major Deacons of the Deep vibes from this one.
I agree when I saw the students coming out during the cut scene I thought of my boss battle with the Deacons of the Deep.
Ancestor spirit is way better imo
Deacons and Rom.
Can’t even use my wolves on the second phase but I can’t use everything else of course lol
kind of made me sick, like i couldn't go on playing after this fight.. had to turn it off for a while.
Watched your vid & beat this the next try after struggling a lot man. You’re a legend thank you
Her fight is very similar to The Four Kings, I find, in that it's effectively a war of attrition. You can't let up against her, you can't give her a chance to keep summoning familiars, you just got to keep on swinging until she falls, and pray that you've got enough damage and familiars of your own left to bring her down.
As a melee build.
Phase 1: rush 3 glowing ones spam, repeat. On last attack before switching to phase 2 make sure to buff up with a flask, buff weapon, and summon wolf's. They all cary over to p2
Phase 2, charge her directly. Spam attack while she's lazering, if she runs rush her again. Never let her get away from melee range, and you can spam her down. If she hits you with pretty much any of her attacks it's game over.
Was super frustrating till I figured this out, and then got her first attempt I did the above.
Same finished her off last night I was like I need to summon before the second part lol 😂 She gives zero time in the 2nd part for a summon
@@Josh-py9rq you can for sure summon after she shoots the first beam of phase two. she has a lot of endlag if u dont hit her
Perfect advice, also if u lose her and she is on mid to long range just run left or right in circles around her untill you can close the gap again. It's actually too easy knowing the mechanic.
I love u, was frustrated for ages and got it with your strat first try
god damn ty for the advice, i kept backing away when she did the ranged attacks but tried following ur advice of just rushing it with the wolves and did it first try lol
I've been trying to beat her for days but now thanks to you I think I can finally do this!
Also another tip that helped me. If you collect armors or clothes. Change your chest and helmet to something with high magic resist. It makes a lot of a difference. Keep boots an gauntlets high armor. Unless you want to switch to mage stuff. But the magic resist numbers is important. I also have a shield that has high magic resist, add the ash of war-no skill- with the magic option. Gives bit more resist to magic. those attacks in the second phase, would take 3 of her charging beams to kill you, or at least my character. I died like 4 times.
my first time playing this boss, despite my cluelessness during the fight, the boss, the environment and the music was so mesmerizing except except for the creepy crawly graduates
RIGHT? I absolutely loved exploring the location
Yah freaking awesome experience
Your Elden Ring guides are awesome. Thank you so much for your content!
This was so helpful like literally all ur information was on point thanks man
Huge thing for me was having my dogs upgraded. I failed probably 20 - 30 times with level one dogs. Went back and got them to level three and I beat her in my next attempt. I think with a higher level they must stagger her more or something because it was night and day.
Where did you upgrade them?
@@RIZZLER117 ua-cam.com/video/lShPTQilSHA/v-deo.html
@@RIZZLER117 you have to get the lady for spirit tuning in the round table hold I forget her name but it’s a small quest line that you’ve likely already started if not finished
Good to know, i used the marionette archers and they get CREAMED by her spells. Ill give the dogs a shot
Dude thank you. After dying 7 or 8 times, I upgraded my demi-human ashes to +3 and beat her easily
Thanks to this video and the helpful comments I beat her. Really cool boss the hardest part for me was the dragon but my 2 best tips are to summon the wolves before the second phase because you cannot summon there. And also the moon explosion attack usually kills the wolves but it always targets you so I would lead the moon away from your wolves. Also at the start of the 2nd phase run straight towards her and the moon beam will go over your head and that also allows you to close the distance so you can get in some melee attacks. The rock sling spell also really helped me in this because it does physical damage and the spell has a quick cast time.
No. It's true that it is much more efficient to summon before the 2nd phase but you can summon also during her 2nd phase. You can try to summon when she does that ice moon spell coz that takes alot of chanelling.
She's not resistant to gravity magic. This fight is extremely easy when you have the rock sling spell
Yeah. I think rock sling is a physical attack. So it’s perfect for magic resistant enemies.
Was about to say this too, purple rocks go brr
really slow...
Most fights are. Especially when you have the Meteorite Staff (which is pretty much right next to it).
@@elyasshussain5988 elaborate?
Thank you for posting this. I used your strategy and totally pwned this witch!
Tons of videos were unhelpful; your was... Great Job! Subscribed!
For casters... Rotten breath works quite nicely on her, even in phase 1 with the shield. You still have to drop her shield one time, but if you tag her with it and proc the effect, it remains even when her shield is still up. You can proc it on her during phase 2 as well.
This has worked for me up until she summons her dragon which downed me in one attack.
Edit: Be warned if you try procing it in phase 2... for me, it wore off and left her with a sliver of hp left.
When I first came to fight this boss I had no idea where I was going. I just ended up fighting different bosses and upgrading my guy. When I finally realized where I was supposed to go to I was already lvl 60 so she was really fun.
One tip I can give is that if you damage her in close range, she will almost always jump away after a hit. So instead of trying to string together hits, hit once and then preemptively roll forward so you can catch her when she jumps back.
Thank you so much, helped me a lot
Awesome and very informative video! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video thumbs up and subbed
Getting in close was the key info that enabled me to beat her after many depressed failed attempts.. the nox priestesses worked well.. quite aggressive, short and medium range, good hp , Magic resistance.. that and the rosalindas twinblade. I'm a mage build. Had to re train. Many thanks.
Thank you for this awesome guide ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Success! 1st time around with your advisement! A+
Good video lots of great advice thanks!
Thank you so much for this guide without it i probably would have been fighting her for hours, btw im shaking so much right now bc of adrenaline bc how good it worked thank yo
What a game changer your vid was! thank you so much! I finally beat her after knocking my head against the wall for a whole night
I actually really enjoyed this guide, it's a great format for boss guides, and I've upgraded to check out your other guides; expect more likes and comments outta me!
I fucking hate the fact there are no marica statue near the boss, that is a fantastic mechanic that I don't understand because they only used it for some, the boss rush is just for stressing you out and breaking your balls, it doesn't add difficulty it's just an annoying waste of time.
Quite a few bosses have a site of lost grace right outside their boss door, which is a welcome change.
Of course, the bosses that DON'T have those are invariably the most unfair and un-fun bosses in the game. The Red Wolf of Radagon being my go-to example.
Thanks!
I've beaten the game numerous times, in all of which I felled Rennala, and am just now hearing your advice for spirit summons and magic builds. Better late than never.
Thanks man very very helpful 😁😁😁😁😁
Hey Fex, I've been trying to put a good moonveil katana build together I was wondering if you have any tips or are you doing a vid on it soon?
Really appreciate it ❤❤
Just beat her yesterday.
First phase reminded me of Deacons of the Deep because it was way too easy.
2nd phase is pretty epic though.
thank u wolves work perfekt :)
I took her out quick with this method, thank you!
I’m so glad I had the moon-veil katana. I mainly am a mage but the katana had bleed so it helped me so much.
Thank you so much
Thanks so much bro
Great - have beaten her now, and only after seeing this! I keep forgetting about my spirits, and mixing up approaches to play!
This was the first boss where I had to use a summon. First phase is easy, but second phase I was getting hosed due to lack of magic damage protection
same i temp switched to the clothes the mages drop on the way their becuz the rocks in the first phase would one shot me
thx so much i literally had no clue what to do
Make sure to summon right before you are going to take her down in the first part that way part 2 you can have your summons agro her and you can get in tons of damage
THIS RIGHT HERE. I've watched 3 guides after dying like 10 times and they all didn't work for me. This was perfect. Be agro, use wolves and i put blood ashes of war on my greatsword with occult variant. The first half i killed her while she was on the ground the first time lol didn't even have to wait for a second time. Then just dodge a few attacks, summon wolves, and jump straight into her like another awesome person in this comment section added. Thanks so much man. Subbed.
cheers dude helped heaps
If you use the electrify armament and the banished knights Halbert +8 with spinning strikes you can one phase the first fight, you can get the Halberd at the revengers shack
I beat her for the first time earlier today (STR/DEX build, Bloodhound's Fang, Lone Wolf Ashes). The first phase of this fight is like something out of an Ari Aster movie lmao.
Nice bro, I got a similar setup, what level are we're you when you did this fight?
@@ZaaRaphz I was level 42 and was able to get a whopping one level added after the fight. The first phase is a joke if you keep moving and don't spend too much time in the open (And also dodge the books flying around. They do pitiful damage, but still), then I relied on the Bloodhound Fang's bleed buff and combat art for solid damage and quick dodges during the second phase. The Lone Wolf Ashes helped out by having them deal with her summons while I kept dishing out pain and the fight was done within about 3 minutes👍
Thanks so helpful because im a mage and now i have to get up close and personal lol
Cool thanks! :)
Thank you bro
I’m using your spellsword build so this guide was an absolute godsend. However I swapped out the wolves for the marionette soldiers. Those 2 units kept her pinned with their relentless barrage of arrows.
I done the exact same and found success. I had barely any vigor, my stats were primarily intelligence. Had to resort to using dual weathered straight swords since my dexterity was 8 lol. Put bleed damgage weapon art on one and bleed grease on the other. Used cursed blood pots on renalla after the marionettes spawned in to make them extra aggressive and just kept pressure on her so she couldnt cast/summon. Found her to be extremely difficult until I used this method
If you are having trouble dodging her beam wait for the wind up to finish getting small and wait one or two seconds before rolling to either side. For the rest of her attacks you should be able to walk to one side or the other and roll just before they reach you to dodge.
If you're having trouble dodging her beam, run straight towards her and it will go over you. "Wait one or two seconds" this isn't helping literally anyone, dumbass.
I have more luck just running sideways kinda closing in on her with her targeted but i confess to having bad roll instincts.
If you summon skeletons during phase 1, not only can they take some books for you, they revive on death like out in the world, which means they are ready to go for phase two without having to summon.
thx i was running out of mana before the first fight
with bleeding it seemed slow but when i upgraded omg easy mode
Watched this then beat her first try (after trying 20 times by myself) by just using my fist on the book girls, then using wolves 2nd phase. Thank you so much!!
Picturing you punching all those girls in the head made me chuckle
Man when I finished they first form I’m like this is too easy
My favorite part is when the sound of her dying played and I died by a damn falling star move so I had to run back. ANYWAYS, I wouldn't have gotten it to begin with until I saw your video. THANK YOU.
I recently bought Elden Ring in prep for the Erdtree expansion and am disecting it but couldn't understand her pummelling me 2nd phase until you said be aggressive. Saved the wolves summon til 2nd phase and used weapon skill instead of prophet flames. Wow and thank you!
I recommend the crystalian summon, it has so much hp that it just never dies in any boss fights
Hey, nice guide. I guess you are playing a evolution of your templar build here.
Can you make a guide for the build?
This would be really great.
When i got into this fight i did it almost 2nd try with ONLY ONE HIT LEFT (😭) after that i was struggling around because of getting hit by random stuff. After watching this video i did it first try no problems. Thanks a lot!!!
We died at the same time once. I killed her and her projectile killed me right after that. Luckily I defeated her in the next attempt
@@jondro6284 hahahah damn glad to hear you got it the next try. In my NG+ i killed her first try and got hit by the dragon a second later. Luckily survived that😂
I personally really like using the marionette soldier spirit summon for this fight in phase 2 as their rapid fire does a decent job of keeping her staggered and their range allows them to more quickly resume their attack whenever she moves away.
What level are yours? Mone are +2 and they get CLAPPED by her.
@@dimitrijetokovic5652 I think mine were +4 for the fight though I was lucky to an extent insofar as she started off trying to target me rather than the summons. The closest I came to dying was when she started summoning her own spirits.
@@deathkuramoto guess ill have to level mine up some more, cheers!
Suuuuuuper helpful
Quick question. Where do you go to get that armor you are wearing?
love that one of your wolves got the final hit haha
great guide
Thanks so much for the help also she wasn't really that resistant to the meteor spell.
Is it helpful to build up magic defense? Thinking my next level up will be Intelligence for this reason
If you're a mage use meteorite staff and rock throw it does physical damage I think
is it good to use the night and flame sword magic on the second phase?
the second i zone in for part 2, she hits me with her magic streams
Thank you thank you thank u I am a mage build u saved me
Good video thanks, I am a mage build and was getting slaughtered! Once I put on the bloody slash I beat her, great stuff😊
How much do you upgrade summons? Ive been looking for Summon upgrade items but i cant find any
I thought my shieldpoke build would have a tough time against her but it wound up in one try. Oddly enough phase 1 raising my shield against the book flingers while targeting them seemed to make them off their game a bit and barely anything hit me. Phase 2 I immediately target her and close distance in a tightening circle while my summons do their thing. A good time to attack her is right after you avoid her comet lance thing. Used light attacks to quickly build up stat effects on her . To be fair I had a good weapon with bleed and frost and usually fight her around 60lvl but went to 70 this time expecting a harder fight.
First phase gave me Chang'e with Tomoe vibes and the second phase gave Bayonetta's mom + sorcery vibes. Very beautiful fight ngl
Thank you🤗 I got her after that🤗
Gravity Mage works too, however timing the rock slings can be tricky and dangerous...
This fight is actually super easy for mages if you have Rock Sling as it deals physical damage instead of magic.
Where can I find rock sling?
@@brownsuede4413 it's in Caelid close to where you get the Meteorite Staff (which boosts the Rock Sling sorcery)
The fight is really easy to begin with. Both as meele and mage.
Found it to be the easiest boss so far.
I’m starting to get to phase 2 but I keep getting killed. I use 4FP 2HP flask set up so I think this is my issue - but I’ll need it round 2 bc I planned to just harpoon her round 2. She ain’t easy!
@@brownsuede4413 caelid swamps south west. You get the meteorite staff which boosts Gravitation damage ad well and is the best staff in the game until you get Carian Regal Staff or Lusats and level them up
If you are a mage, simply use Rock Sling. Lots of damage, and counts as physical damage.
Bloody slash and the wolves makes this a cake walk bro, thanks
Literally first tried her with dogs lol. It's crazy how quckly summons can change a fight.
As a caster rock sling is physical damage, so you can use that if you don't want a weapon.
Anyone know what the consumables
She gives you are for I have them but haven’t consumed as not sure what there for
I just beat it without going to second phase. Thanks for the advice. Used wolves and pressured her just kept hitting her and two handed my nagakiba. She could do anything. God she was annoying with her summons and that beam I realized u have to roll when beam comes out
Echoing others this is a piece of cake with the wolves at +3, combined with an aggressive melee strategy.
I always forget to use summons. That worked a treat first time
Very easy fight but wow the visuals/sequences/setting are top notch!
What do u do if you can’t find any student glowing?, none of them are glowing and I’m just running around looking for them :(
What sword and incantation are you using? I've never seen that incantation.
I had mercenary kaiden summon for this fight, his uppercut attack can actually launch her into a knockdown, during which you can just bash her face in. I think he had her on the ground for half the fight.
I already knew Kaiden Mercenaries were chads but I didn't think they could send a woman twice their size flying to the moon with one uppercut
