    Awesome review Pri yon Joni! I just picked up a set of PLX-CRSS12s and have them connected to a DJM-S11 running Serato. I noticed I can't trigger hot cues on the mixer or CRSS12 without the platter spinning. Is that function not available on the CRSS12s? I assumed we could trigger the hot cues and then press the start button on the CRSS12 to keep the track playing but that isn't the case. Thanks.

    Thank you Pri yon Joni
    for the review as clear as always
    I am interested in the point (with serato scratch live you can play).
    in my personal case I don't practice turnabilism, but I love turntables and years ago I switched from my S9 & CDJNXS setup to S11 & RP8000mk2 & Phase Dj.
    I also have the option of using vinyl from time to time in the old school style.
    I have not found any need to use Serato 3.0.
    question !!! can I replace my RP & Phase Dj with these CRSS12 without losing my current setup.
    What do I have to map to make them work?
    what functions will I not be able to have from the CRSS12?
    in the future can you give us a demo about it ?
    Thanks

      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому

      You can use the CRSS12’s DVS control with an older version of Serato. The only thing you wont get is the supported layout of the pads and some display info. However, you can MIDI map the pads and save the custom mapping on your older version.

    Thanks for the video Pri Yon!
    You mentioned that you can plug these into a mixer with a hub like the S7.
    Does that mean you can plug these in via USB and don’t need to plug in anything else for them to function?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому

      No problem! If you plug them into the USB hub of your mixer, you will only need one connection to the computer from the computer. Otherwise, you will need an additional usb hub to accommodate all devices.

      @@priyonjoni Ok just to clarify, I have an S7 with 2 usb in ports. Soo.. if I plug in both turntables to those ports and plug in the S7 into my computer with the USB out, everything should work correctly? And would that only be for the digital mode, or would the vinyl mode work like this as well?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому +2

      Your first question. The answer is yes. As I said, if you plug the the turntables via USB into the mixer, you only need one USB connection between your mixer and computer.
      For your second question. Think of the turntable as 3 devices. It's a DVS controller, it's a vinyl player, and its a MIDI control. What runs through the USB is the MIDI portion, which are the pads and some info on the OLED. The DVS control has nothing to do with the USB. In fact, you don't actually need the USB connected to use DVS. It generates a signal that comes out of the RCA. Furthermore, the DVS timecode signal it generates is not tied to any version of Serato or rekordbox, so if you forget your USB cable, or don't have a hub, you can still use the DVS control of the turntable with your mixer and computer.

    As crazy as it might sound... you're the only one who stated the obvious... (it will work with any DVS Software) ... common sense but nobody mentioned it... also... Midi can be mapped to anything... to OBS should u wish... again common sense... but nobody dared to say that in other videos...

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому +9

      To be fair, I saw my buddy Nick Spinelli mention the compatibility with other DJ software on his video. I just recently learned (long after I made this video) that the MIDI mappablity is not just the pad setion, but every button and slider on the CRSS12! You can map the motor off, pitch slider, and even the brake switch!

    • @DocFUNKist

      I'm really curious to find out a bit more about how is the drifting in this thing... mostly in a long blend term (not scratch)

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому +2

      @@DocFUNKist playback drift is pretty tight. You can even improve it by setting the torque to the lowest setting. The general rule that applies to most turntables is that lower torque often leads increased stability with wow and flutter. And beyond that, you can enable "Anti Drift" in Serato which digitally corrects for minor wow and flutter. But on it's own, the CRSS12 is stable at different pitch. Some of the other reviewers did identical copy tests to see how long it for a double copy to shift offset, and it took while a long time.

    Calling it now, people will use scratch vinyls on top as their main vinyl.
    Only question is have is the Step Pitch feature.. Does it work on Analog mode?

  • @lh4ltube

    Do the Start/Stop, Motor Off, 33, 45, Step Pitch, Application, Deck, Reset buttons are midi mappable ?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes! Everything on the CRSS12, except for the platter, is MIDI mapable. That even includes the 3-toggle brake switch in the front!

    when you play a normal record, does it also pick up the BPM on the LED display? its the one question i havent seen answered

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому

      It does not read the BPM of vinyl records. But it does on the DJM-S11.

    Why force a vertical layout where you need to reach over the deck to reach the pitch. Is the majority of users scratching instead of mixing?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  2 місяці тому

      You can use the turntable in either orientation. Routing underneath the turntable has even be made to accommodate either orientation.

  • @abrahamrios6503
    @abrahamrios6503 10 місяців тому +2

    Realy love the idea. The layout does not work for me. I am not a scratch dj, I a blender. It doesn't have my truntable battle style. To band, I would considered buying a pair.

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  10 місяців тому +2

      It doesn’t have to be in battle style. The cable routing underneath allows for both. And in standard, the pads are in the same position as the original hot cues were on the CDJ-1000 to CDJ-2000NX2.
      Most of the functions of the turntable are pretty well known that you don’t have to read them. Pitch, 33/45, start/stop, ect. Battle style DJs have been able to manage with the printing in 90° angle for many decades.
