    6:16 slight correction: When playing the signal before the sweetspot, the digital voicing is actually more like the DJM-V10 than the DJM-A9.

    I never play with a rotary DJ mixer but this one looks like it is user-friendly. AlphaTheta makes certain as a DJ, you can learn any DJ system. I am certain that major DJs as well as clubs and festivals will be jumping for this mixer. As an underground DJ who loves long blends, I can appreciate this mixer.

    the fact the echo and tape echo highpass automaticly is a very good idea! when i first read the marketing blurb i couldnt take this thing seriously, this video outlined a lot more that made sense vs fancy wording

    Great videos man, much appreciated. I'm in the market for two new mixers, a rotary for house/disco and a A9 for jungle and techno. I'm in my 50s and have a massive collection of vinyl, been DJing since 1987. I came up on the Urei 1620 - yes it only had one knob per channel, but the summing is like a perfect melt. This Euphonia looks like a lot of fun! My rotary choices prior to this being released were the ARS, E&S. I need to decide soon but it's not easy!

    What a great explanation of the amazing Summing capability of a rotary mixer. Looks like a great kit. Rotary V10. As a rotary purist blessed to learn on a CDM 10, 1610 and 2016 I think the pots are two far apart. I mix/blend with one hand. Might be hard on this kit. The force is strong in this review😂

    A proper in depth review with real technical info, really appreciated the explanation of the different glue styles between the different mixers. Would love a comparison between the V10 and the Euphonia :)

    The transformer is on its own send/receive that's specific to the transformer prior to the digital stages of the headphone pgrm feed, rec, booth, and master sections. This DAC -> transformer -> ADC stage occurs right after the DSP's virtual mixbus and gets fed back into the DSP prior to the isolator processing.
    3:35 50 bucks says that when you've maxed out the needle on the Mix meter and it's no longer bouncing, it's kicking into either an aggressive digital domain compressor or a limiter just before the DAC stage that goes into the analog transformer effector. Pioneer's reps telling you this stuff might be clueless, but their engineers, while somewhat misguided in some of the design decisions variously on this mixer, didn't screw up so bad that the metering would be blatantly contrary to international norms & standards. It only went up another 1 or 2dB when you reached the end of the meter and kept rotating, and that's likely from the transformer just being more saturated as the RMS increased into it with the prior digital compression/limiting.
    The float scaling on the double precision processing is *only* in regards to the digital domain, not any analog input or analog output stage. The few areas that this actually helps in this case are on the virtual mixbus, digital effects section, and with very high trim-gain knob settings and/or tone controls cranked combined with lower channel rotaries (the bottom knobs), though that's still going to eventually end up limiting on places like the headphone stage eventually.
    As you stated, the NXS2, V10, and A9 all have this 64bit float scaling capability that is nearly impossible to clip the digital portions of the mixer when using digital inputs and when the output limiters are on. Any 32bit float mixer can also do that sliding scale, too. Floating point is a processing and storage format, though. Every DAC is forced to run in fixed point and has a hard, finite brick wall. Running a DSP in fixed point wouldn't be that outrageous because this isn't just a DAW or recording, and either way you're still either trying to prevent clipping or resorting to limiters at the output stages... not that anyone's going to complain about 64bit float on a DJ mixer. Limiting is still undesirable, though.
    5:10 That's actually useful information that the Euphonia's DSP firmware code is based on the A9 and not the V10. Thank you. It also confirms what I thought that the V10 was voiced closer to the X1800, but IMO is slightly less grainy and dry than the Denon. I think InMusic maybe overdid the analog physicality of the X1800, and the transients are definitely thicker than the X1700.
    18:43 Not a very informative Master meter for a DJ mixer, actually, other than the numeric hold readout, and you rely on that to know where the nominal zero point is. Starting the red at +6dBVu provides an additional 3-4dB of emergency headroom until clip that's unnecessary. Red should probably start at +9-10dB. Perhaps the Master meter is designed more to mirror the transformer distortion range from the other screen... assuming you've got the Master Level at its unity. I really hate master boost over unity, and they've still got the +5dB range.

      I think you owe me $50 😉. Don’t worry, I have no need for it so please donate it to a DJ school. But the unlike other AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ mixers, euphonia does not actually have the 2-stage compressor/limiter found on mixers like the V10, S11, and A9. If you go into the utility menu, there is no option to toggle on/off a limiter because it does not exist. Any dynamic control you’re hearing is the effect of the transformer.
      Rather than going back and forth in the comment section, I invite you to try this mixer out when it hits your local music store. That way, trying it out can answer some questions you might be wondering about.

    2 things... 1. why no Pro DJ Link? 2: Does the RMX 1000 work with this mixer?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni  2 місяці тому +3

      Pro DJ Link isn’t necessary since the auto bpm detection is accurate for the type of fx on the mixer. And when you’re playing techno and house, it’s not really going to struggle to find the bpm. The bpm technology has been accurate for decades on Pioneer DJ gear. Only other feature Pro DJ LINK could be utilized for is fader start, which this mixer has no crossfader.

      The RMX 1000 would just reduce the sound quality. Especially at the output stage. Pedals would be better.
