It's nice to see this game still get plenty of love, I wish I had a PC to have a modded setup, I love seeing more lore friendly and vanilla style mods, I feel like a parallax texture interior mod would be great for the game, adding more depth and details to buildings, and making them seem as if they have interiors
I couldn’t have agreed more. There are currently some developers who are working on a few fixes and improvements for the game. Some people from that side happen to be fixing the game’s default port issues, such as stuttering, graphical enhancements, visuals, shaders, etc. Some people happen to be working on visual mods to bring a remaster type of feeling, such as iCEnhancer 4 or Liberty Visual. Someone is currently working on a full overhaul for the game, called Project RevIVe, which literally brings more life to the game with more lively and realistic trees, enhanced textures on buildings, improved vegetation, great lighting effects in the world, etc. If you come on over the PC side, then explore it! You won’t regret it!

Bullet Impact Euphoria probably can be expanded further, when player gets shot while driving, controls to car could be lost for second or two.

@@NotAJ I meant, "could be", currently I think there is no such effect in mod.
@@NotAJ i know this is old, but the impact euphoria mod also has a chance of staggering when hit rather than upon every single time so you cant get stunlocked like you do with the zmenu impact euphoria. this chance also decreases with the use of body armor (and the effect he mentioned is an option that comes with the mod)

One thing I feel it should point out: No one throws out a gun magazine if it's not fully empty. When you do what is called a “tactical reload” meaning you reload even though you might have rounds left because you anticipate a heated gunfight and don't want to run out too early, you keep the half empty mag. Once the dust settles, you recover those bullets by refilling the mag or ejecting them and storing them.
In GTA, it makes no sense that characters carry 1000+ rounds on their person (not to mention rocket launchers, of course). I think the true emersion would come from revamping the whole ammo system to show you how many rounds in your gun, how many full mags you have, and how many half mags you have. Your character will always reload full mags until they run out and then switch to reloading half mags, meaning you'll have fewer rounds between each reload. And when outside of combat, you can have him merge the half mags into full mags.
Mechanically it wouldn't be hard to do through scripts and the animations don't need to change. That's just an observation, of course, considering I'm not exactly a modder.
I appreciate this very thorough and extremely detailed explanation of why the default reloading method is seemingly correct. Your insight is greatly appreciated and well-respected.
I believe that there are a few mods out there already that actually does revamp the weapon ammo system in GTA IV (a couple of ones actually).
As far as the reload of full mags vs. half mags (in desperate times) hopefully someone can come up with :)

Finally built a gaming PC which will let me play this. Only other option before was Xbox capped at 720p and no mods. Looking forward to rediscovering this gem.

Hi AJ, really appreciative of your videos that you have on such an old gem! It got me reinstalling GTA IV to play through again with mods for a better QOL/realism. I followed your downgrade video to a T, and I'm trying to install all the mods I want before starting the game. However I'm straggling with certain mods that seem to run on scripts, such as the fuel mod and indicator lights. (I noticed that only these mods that go into the scripts folder aren't working). Would you have any idea as to what I might be missing? I should have all the scripthooks from the downgrade to 1.0.7.0 right? Thanks in advance!!
Sorry, UA-cam hid your comment automatically because it assumed the "1070" you wrote was a link. Anyways, I have heard that there are some problems stemming up there. I'm not sure of an exact solution, but I'll look around and let you know if I do.

About that mod which makes gang hostile towards Niko depending on his actions, wasn't there something in the base like that? I remember a video featuring 100 facts about Gta 4, which mentions that in certain instances, gang which you're allied with, will help you or hurt you, if you hurt them throughout the main story.
I know which video you’re talking about, the one from whatever57010? It’s a great video! But yes, that detail is in the game, but, it doesn’t specifically have the element of immediate confrontation. What I mean by that is when after you’re done completing certain missions, the NPC corresponding to the gangs don’t respond to you when crossing paths with them. They simply ignore you until something happens. The mod, however, includes this element of immediate confrontation as evidently shown. Now - in terms of allying with the player, you’re correct, the mod does partially have that element. When you’re working with Mikhail Faustin throughout the GTA IV storyline, and if an NPC attacks you around a group of Russian mobster NPCs, then the Russian mobsters will help you against the attack. So the element of gang hostility and alliances do exist in the game, but they’re very much conditional (as if the user needs to do something for their hostile/allied presence to be shown). Otherwise, the mod does it by default, making it more realistic.

My GTA 4 wish list:
Bus routes functioning for peds
Taxis have peds with driver already but idk if possible to catch peds waiting for taxi
Ferry now can take peds and Niko to the Happines Island
Mix all features from dlc's to the main game, for ex. parachute from Tbogt
Gas station functioning for niko and peds
Bicycles in Liberty City
Maybe even skareboard
Peds can have fun at skateboarding/bike parks
If someday gta 4 will be reworked, i wish for functioning airlines, peds would also be able to fly around cities
More peds, improved behaviour
Niko would heal at hospital if he is still not dead
Niko can enter more buildings, for ex. police station
Reworked firefighter behaviour
Niko can buy things from black market, can smoke if he has some in inventory
Useless, but niko can like some peds buy, read newspappers and sit
Functioning basketball court, niko can play also peds can spawn and play
Niko can grab things and place them in a car
Destroying traffic affects city services to fix them
Police is not longer tolerate niko's pirate behaviour on traffic - niko ca be arrested or he can pay the fine
More weapons - not too much
More special/unique vehicles from other gta games
More birds at each locations
Maybe even some dogs or cats
Controversial, Niko can use bathroom, toilet
Another controversy, can be children placed in Libery City
Reworked restaurants, better menu
Probalby some are available in mods, im not sure. I wish we will receive complete GTA 4 some day. That would be way more alive and spectacular, real next-generation features not only the graphics....
To answer some of the desires, I believe that pedestrians already do hop into taxis and do hail them in the middle of the street already. The ferry feature would in fact be a nice thing to have, because stealing a boat to go there is the only method of transport. I also do wish for the mix-up of the DLC content into the main game, as well, makes sense lore-wise. Bicycles I believe wouldn't be there only because of NYC not having those IRL (it's made illegal to ride them in NYC in some parts, I think). More open interiors would be great, but I think that there are quite a lot for the game to have. Black market for tools would be good, but there's not really anything 'tools-wise', the only black market is the underground weapons dealer - which is in-game. Functioning basketball court would be SUPERB! I also think the grabbing of items and storing them into vehicles were impossible at the time, due to game limitations I bet. Birds would be good, as of right now there is the 'Project Birds' mod... or even having more liveliness would be nice. And all the other stuff you mentioned sounds amazing. I hope for a complete GTA IV one day as well, my friend.

Hmm, that’s a tough one because certain mods won’t be compatible with other ones. That where you’ll have to do that trick of manipulating it manually 🫠 So sorry!
Are these restricted to older versions of the game or can I use them with The Complete Edition v1.2.0.43? If not, can you recommend mods for the most recent version?

Thank you so much! I would definitely recommend getting an “openCamera” mod by the developers of OpenIV - this removes the bounds from the camera having issues in-game. Additionally, I’d also recommend getting ZMenuIV by Zolika1351, and inside there are a few options for “free camera” mode, which allows a configurable FOV, tilt, and movement while in-game.

Do you use DXVK for your IV? It runs so smooth on 1070... If not what have you done to make it run so smooth? (From your making moves in Liberty City vids)
You’d be surprised, but DXVK hasn’t been working for me with CryENB! My game just ends up being this smooth based on my command-line settings and also the fact that, in my Making Moves in LC GTA 4 copy, I crunch down the textures on the vehicles so the performance isn’t abysmal! There’s some other tweaks such as ZolikaPatch that also helps the game become more optimized as well :)

is there a chance liberty rush and potential grim will work on complete edition?
I do not believe so since I think Liberty Rush itself is only compatible on the Patch 7 (and I think 8, not sure) version of GTA 4. Potential Grim is questionable, though, I think it does work (MAYBE).

If you look into the Liberty Rush files a little more (from what's provided in the archive), then the author "Internet Rob" has provided a way to combine both of these mods together (compatibility guide). First fully install Potential Grim, then follow the "Compatibility Guide".
Seeing random gangs acting hostile at Niko, reminds me of GTA 3 where Claude messed up certain gangs in his work

I agree with you on that! I wish GTA 4 did take it next step with the NPC gangs. They did an amazing job on the NPCs themselves, but I mean as in the interaction with the player (by random chance).

Hi, very useful video! I have one question, when I install simple traffic loader and trainer together the trainer starts to lag in the menu, I tried different versions of it but it doesn't help, the problem is when you press 5 to enter the page the response is delayed and you have to hold it for few seconds. So do you know how to fix this bug?

Running Responsive Plus, Bullet Euphoria, Liberty Rush, Potential Grim, and Arrest Warrant. Finally got everything working. Progressed far enough into the story for me to start Ballad of Gay Tony, it consistently crashes without getting to a loading screen. Potential Grim said one file might cause issues with the first mission, but I tried removing it and it still won't launch TBoGT. Any idea what my issue is..? Totally lost. Feeling defeated. Was very excited thinking I got it all worked out and now come to realize an entire episode can't be played 😢 Base Game and TLaD work just fine, I do not understand how to even begin to solve this
Does TBoGT just not work at all on 1.0.7? I tried a fresh downgrade to try and check out what was causing me issues, and I just can't launch it in the first place apparently. Something is going wrong during the downgrade (or it didn't work in the first place before the downgrade, I didn't check, because I want the old music). Absolutely befuddled. I know people don't have as much love for Gay Tony, but I appreciate that's its so different that the other two. GTA 4 trilogy is special and I want to see it in all its glory 😤 just struggling lol
Check the reverted scripts folder of your potential grim download file. There is a copy of what I'm guessing is a default TBoGT script called ambsavebed.sco
It was Liberty Rush. Don't know what about it, but Gay Tony won't even try to load with Liberty Rush installed. Just remove it from the equation and everything works fine (after I luv LC, Potential Grim breaks that mission, but works fine after)

@spades512 so you want to downgrade, play the first mission of TBoGT, and then install all your mods (read through their installation readme. Breaking Gay Tony is pretty common apparently lol), because Potential Grim will make I Luv LC unfinishable. But then works afterwards.

Assuming these are meant to go with downgrader. Do i ignore the scripthook that comes with the downgrader ? in the RealReload readme it mentions a scripts folder which i dont have. so would making a folder named scripts work or do I need to download the reccomended scripthook ?
You could downgrade and install the ScriptHook that comes with it, or you don't have to and just download ScriptHook from elsewhere and install it. Either way, you should just make a new folder in the directory called "scripts", and that's it! Vice versa, works both ways.
And no, the newest version of ScriptHook for a patch should work just fine.

Wow, Arrest Warrants. Seriously things like this need to come out for XBox. It's not like the console (Xbox One/OneS Series S/X) cant handle it, or store them into the game files on the harddrive anyway. The purpose of the game is to be in a criminal enterprise with drugs and money but the emphasis on the game is cars, theft and driving said stolen cars. Cops and the realism of them should be paramount in a game like this. Having cops that do all the things in this mod is all the things I hope for in a future update to GTA 5.
It would be superb if the titles themselves released with a slider, or like an option, of “Hardcore Mode”, where realistic effects can occur depending on your liking. Imagine having started the game, you want a very difficult play through, so you go to your Options and enable “Hardcore Mode”. This would allow for exactly what you’re talking about. If only all that was a thing though 😅

I have to be honest with you, it's been years since I've had those particular gun sounds. If I'm not mistaken, then these are privately made ones from Squad from some friends I knew way back when.
GTA IV feels more alive than V even without mods. It's not even close.

I’m so sorry. I don’t get your meaning. Are you asking for like graphics mods recommendations? With these particular mods, I’d recommend any iCEnhancer or CryENB! :)
In previous GTAs - especially 3 and LCS - certain gangs do get hostile towards you based on your actions or affiliation. And in San Andreas: you could see Police chases, thieves, drug dealers and gangs fight each other frequently, you can even react to certain events in the game.
IMO, they removed these features from GTA 4 so that they happen when a player chooses to, so that if you want some action with Police or gangs simply shoot at them or play Vigilante missions instead of suddenly getting shot at when you don't want it!
Perhaps some players found these features annoying in the Previous GTAs but I think it certainly added fun & realism to the game, I'm glad there's a modding communities that do what giant companies don't.

This is a really good question. Considering that all of these mods are singleplayer-based, I would consider using the XLiveLess (xlive.dll) ASI Loader. It's the best option for this.

Is there a possibility to install it on latest gta patch? I had a lot of errors and problems installing few mods from this modpack and latest version got great injector.
Also is there a possibility to have one file installer? Only copy-paste install for people who had problems modding?
Unfortunately, I don't think many of these mods will work on the latest versions of Grand Theft Auto IV. They were specifically designed on the older patches. You could, however, downgrade the game with the downgrader tool, then install the DXVK modification to improve the game performance. That is one way of doing it.

You’re welcome, and no worries! There is no package that includes all these mods into one. And personally, I’ve found that Patch 1070 is the best with modding, installing DXVK makes it better if an ENB is not being used.

yes, but no. you'll need to downgrade the game version in order todo mods. @NotAJ has a video on how to downgrade, the thumbnail has "downgrade" below a gray sports car.

That’s understandable and that’s nothing to feel ashamed of. The game isn’t the easiest to mod. Sadly I can’t do that because… well, you know why lol 😂 but hopefully down the road I’ll make some tutorials that will make it all better for everyone
did you have to do anything special to get liberty rush to work with other immersion mods?
It was a bit' tedious having to get it to work with Potential Grim. Besides that, nothing else required. But the nice thing is that Internet Rob provides a compatibility guide to get Liberty Rush to bind with Potential Grim.

I am so sorry, but I have not encountered this error. A recommendation would be to start a new save completely. That's what many of the developers for GTA IV mods recommend.

Dude i have an error porblem if do you have any help about solving,it will lovely because i can not find any answers on net.I am getting script error randomly when i playing the game.When i do 'reloadscripts' and then they do work but shortly after the errors comes back.The erroring scrips are such ass fuel script and wreck scripts but nol all of my scripts are giving errors.
I've heard of this issue as well, and I believe I was having the same problem. The strangest thing is that the two mods on my Making Moves in Liberty City copies do not conflict. Let me dig deeper and see if I can get back to you.
i cannot get my GTAiv to run scripthook or the asi loader to get this mod to work. i have everything in place, i got the updated scripthook made for the steam version, i got the xlive.dll. i got the arrest warrant mod in the script folder.
it just will not load for me, do you got a video or would you want to make a video to show how to load this mod, and howto check if it loads? i cant find anything about how to get this to work, i just want to play this series over again with a more realistic experience with the police. and cant figure this out.

Potential grim is really an awesome mod, I never thought of how much potential (no pun intended) it gives to GTA 4’s realism. I haven’t even tested it on the DLC, does it crash on the regular GTA 4 game too?

The Liberty Rush mod
I gotta say something about it that is NUTS, an issue, that will help many gamers that don't know about it specially if they never played with it
So let's go
This mod has a feature that makes other people rob your car
This will either happen with YOU around or OFF CAMERAS
What I mean by that is that even when you're not around, like with the game unmoded, your car will disappear
But it will also happen when you park it in the parking area by your safe house
Yeah, even in the exact place where it shouldn't happen, I believe that feature is horrible
And the car can also be robbed in a second when you're leaving your safe house
And IT CAN ALSO BE ROBBED WHEN YOU SAVE THE CAR IN THE PARKING AREA, SAVE THE GAME, LOAD THE FILE AND IT WON'T BE THERE
So what do you do???
Beat the mod using it's own rules
1. Get a car
2. Park it in the parking area
3. Find another car or get another car/bike/whatever
4. Get in that new car, while your previous one is in the save parking car area
5. Drive this new car for a while
6. Then leave that car, I recommend holding the "leave car" button so you will not only leave the vehicle but turn it off, the mod likes to underline that doing that makes that car even more personal to you
7. Go back to your safe house and save the game
8. Now the chances of getting your saved car robbed have decreased and moved to that new car you got
Even if you do this, there's still a chance that both cars will be robbed or even the car that you saved in the parking area but they're significantly decreased due that you changed cars with that new one you drove just to prevent the main car off being stolen

Im going insane trying to figure out how to install the Arrest Warant mod. I installed the Steam version, ran the Downgrader, but i dont know what to do next. Do i just gotta create a "Scripts" folder on the game main folder (after downgrade)? or do i need something else? Because i ran into some modding files that actually had the Script folder, the asi loader and everything else, but after dropping those files into the main folder, the game wont start (from the playgtaiv.exe).
Please help :(, there are a lot of script mods that i want to install
Yes, most certainly. You should be putting the Arrest Warrant mod into the "scripts" folder that you need to make in your GTA 4 directory. Also, try renaming "PlayGTAIV.exe" to "LaunchGTAIV.exe".
@@NotAJ thanks for the help! i managed to make things work but i had to resort to play almost vanilla in the end cause many things were not working for me. Couldnt find a ENB that worked for me and i was having glitches like when i went to pick up roman or any other character for side activites the cart wont move or i cant leave the vehicle :(

Yes, the version of GTA 4 does matter and it is very specific to what’s needed for the mod. In this video, I’m specifically running Patch 7!
What is the graphic mod used in this video?
At the beginning of the video, it is iCEnhancer 4. For the remaining parts of the video, it is CryENB.

For some portions of the video, like somewhat during Potential Grim, I am using "iCEnhancer 4" with RevIVe autumn trees. But for majority of the video, where the graphics are more vibrant looking and the trees are summer-green, I am using "CryENB V3".
