Soup joumou is not really supposed to be watery it's supposed to be thick but not too thick. It gets its thickness mostly from the squash but even though Andrews was watery I think he did the best out of all of the others.
Watery or not the guy who judged it looked like his was pasta salad compared to the other ones lol I saw no juice whatsoever 😶😅

Overall they tried their best but I have to agree with another user's comment this video did not do Haitians justice at all and this is not a clear representation of one of Haiti's staple cuisines.

So glad this was recommended to me! I went to Haiti a few years back with a group from my church, and some amazingly nice Haitians gave us a soup like this. I’m not completely sure if this is the same soup we had, but it had some plantains, goat beef, some kind of squash, and some potatoes, and something else, but there weren’t any noodles 😂 It was sweet and savory at the same time and sooo delicious!
