      Hardest part of an auger bearing is getting the pulley off and holding the bolts in place, I use a rubber band on the bolts and sit on a long pry bar while I hit the shaft with a punch to get the pulley off

      @@Coakleyfixedit207 just finished this job. In a 5°F garage. Pulling that bracket made the belt part easy. And like you said, the bracket was a pain to put back in.
      Wondering if it would be worthwhile to pre drill 2 holes through the side panel & bracket. Use a couple center punches to help pry/guide the brack back into place. Then screw the bolts back in place.

    Thank you for this video. I have a 2015 Toro 38802 and have the belts on hand for when they will be needed. Nice to see how an expert handles this work.
    Suggestion: get a pointer, like a long screwdriver or a thin dowel painted white, and point at the different components before you start the work. Explain what you will be doing before each step, while the camera is not moving. Have the lighting aimed to help us amateurs see the work area. That might mean showing an area or part and then moving the light out of your way so the work can be done.
    Most viewers won't do ten belt changes in a lifetime, let alone every week! A lot of viewers will need your instructions because their snowblower stopped working right in the middle of cleaning their driveway, or even mid-storm. They'll run or drag the snowblower to their garage and find your instructional video on UA-cam.
    Your explanations are great. They might be better for unhandy homeowners (like me) if you add some static camera shots showing us what we will need to do.

    You said you'd make a separate video for doing this on a Toro powershift snowblower. I don't see it on your site anywhere. I guess i'll be winging it tomorrow and learning as i go. I think the hardest part of it all will be removing the pully bolt. Hopefully it's not so rusted on that i can't get it off. 🤞 I don't want to snap the head off of it,.. or worse. I've been spraying it with penetrating oil and letting it soak in. If i fail it'll be heading off to the dealers and they can change the belts.

    Thanks for this video! Question for you….I have a PowerMax 824OE, plastic discharge chute. Every year I have to replace the discharge chute because one of the eyelets holding the deflector pin breaks. I have gotten lucky once that Toro sent me a replacement(supposed to be guaranteed for life), but have had to purchase 2 or 3 on my own(since I don’t live anywhere near an authorized service center). My question is…have you seen this, or am I a one-off? I’ve noticed that the newer models all have metal discharge chute parts so I can only assume that they recognized how stupid it was to use plastic and changed. Just curious. Thanks a bunch.

  • @dtnel
    @dtnel Рік тому

    So what would be making a loud squeal and then the snowblower dying? It stays running just fine and then when I power into wet ice it will bog up and then died out but the belt wasn't even squealing then that was after it had been squealing or so according to what the wife had said along with my daughter when I wasn't around one day. Model 37779 by Toro of course. Throwing a new Auger belt on it for now in hopes of it working.

    • @Coakleyfixedit207
      @Coakleyfixedit207  Рік тому

      If it only squeals when releasing the handle I'd say the pad on the brake arm is worn through, if it won't blow and is squealing while handle is down there is probably a rock jammed in the impeller
