- Ariens 926LE snow blower tuneup, carb clean, and checkup.
Let's go over this machine, give it a good once over, tune up the Tecumseh Snow King, clean the carb, service the drive transmission and make sure it ready to go for the customer.

Just love seeing a competent mechanic doing his work. Respect to those who are in the know.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for saving me at least $100. This video was very helpful. When you blew through the carb that’s what showed me what was wrong with mine. The little float wire was not connected so I had no air flow. Fixed that and bingo one pull. 👍🏽
Glad it helped
Great video thank you. Got a 927LE to tackle the drive service on much appreciated.
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for doing this! Hard to find specific instructions on the carb (specifically) for this model. I've got the same one and it's refusing to start. Cleaned part of the carb (bottom end) and it started and now it won't do it again. Have to clean the whole carb, I guess, and I didn't know how to do it. You saved me a trip to a mechanic. Much appreciated!
Glad the video helped you out!
Did you check the clearance on the valves? Engine is screwed if you let the required gap diminish until the valve guide wears from the valve not seating properly. Learned the hard way
Didn't check on this one. Flathead valvetrain does wear far slower than it does on OHV engines. And I don't believe this one has many hours on it at all. Good thing to keep in kind though... Thanks for watching!
bueno viejito, buen tutorial, justo hoy con 35 cm nieve se salieron ambas ruedas de la freser, tu ayuda ha sido buena.😁
Nice repair and service 👍
Thanks for watching!
great job....i have an Arien 9/26 that is going on 18 seasons....if you take care of them, they last a long time...i use non ethanol and run some sea foam in the gas to keep everything nice and clean.....I take care of it and it takes care of my back....thanks
Non-ethanol is a VERY big part of keeping it running well. Thanks for the great comment!
Excellent video, and just what I needed to watch before servicing the carb on my own 926LE. One incidental observation: the tires appear to be relatively new and both were mounted on the rims with the tread facing the same way, which is the correct direction for the right-hand side but the wrong direction for the left-hand side. It's not the biggest deal in the world, just something that I happened to notice.
Good eye on that one! I had noticed and told the customer. He said he mounted them like that himself, and that he will fix it at home to save the labor. Like you said, not a huge problem, but that was a good catch!
Another one ready for another snowstorm👍
What kind of solvent do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner?
I use Simple Green HD Pro. Has to be the purple stuff, the green stuff eats aluminum
That was really good thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!
I would like to see how you set the tach to set the rpm
Like what screws adjust the min and max speeds? Or how the tach works?
Enjoyed the video, I have the same machine. I have found it much easier to pull the manifold right from the engine to avoid finagling with the blind nut on the backside. Having short, fat fingers makes it hard to get into those tight spots.
Thanks for the great comment! That bolt can be removed either way, it just depends on the wrencher who is working on it. I usually don't have much trouble with them.
Grease front auger shaft
What is the part number for the Carb on a 926101 (926LE). I've searched through the whole manual and not found anything. I just picked one of these up on the side of the road and I'd like to give it an overhaul. It currently runs and drives, but dies under a load and surges. Figured the Carb is just dirty.
I believe Tecumseh number 640349 is what was on this machine.
@@randomwrenching Thanks for the unbelievably quick reply! I'd love to pick your brain just a little bit more...A quick search online reveals 640349 carbs for tecumseh engines for right around $20. Some of them even come with fuel lines, line filters, and other things. What's your opinion on some of these cheaper options that are right on amazon? I'm not dumb but i've also never taken apart a carb and cleaned it. I think for me it might be worth just buying something I can throw on there until I have the time to take apart the original carb and learn how to clean it very good. Thanks again!
@@xVoidCypher I usually avoid the super cheapie carbs from Amazon myself, I've had bad luck in the past with them. I buy from Stens directly, but you'd have to be a dealer. So, you can try a cheapie, or you can maybe find Stens number 520-926 online.
@@randomwrenching The user manual states in order to add grease to the auger, you must first remove the sheer pins and then add grease through the zerk fittings. Is this truely neccesary for this unit?
@@xVoidCypher If you do it that way, it will allow you to pump some grease in the fittings, then spin the augers on the shaft to distribute the grease better. Pump some more grease in and spin them again.
I have to spray my carburetor with starting fluid and on him not exactly sure the spot that I'm supposed to spray it I know that sounds like a stupid question but I would rather sound stupid and do it correctly if anybody can help me
That was supposed to say I'm not on him. Sorry ya'll.☺️ I forgot to say please for mybstarting fluid issue.
Help ,please😜
Depending on the machine, you may not be able to see where you can spray into. That being said, if you need starting fluid to start it, the carburetor or primer line needs to be repaired.
So there’s no air filter on these? Wondering why not even though winter isn’t dusty I run my blower once a month for 10 minutes to keep it going. Is there anything to clean the air before entering carb? Wondering how it works if you don’t mind explaining briefly. Thanks
No air filter on snow blowers. Sometimes there is a coarse screen on some of the newer ones. A paper filter would plug up right away with snow swirling around.
Sorry if this is a dumb question. With a digital tachometer, what do you have to point it at on this snowblower, or does it do it by sound?
It's inductive. I just put it near the spark plug wire, and it picks up the RPM reading.
I don't have any spark on this machine. It wouldn't fire today and we have a storm dumping a foot of snow on us :,)
If a new plug doesn't work, it's likely a bad coil. Way to check is remove the front cover, remove the kill wire from the coil itself and refit the cover. Give it a pull to see if it has spark. If it doesnt, coil is bad. If it does have spark, your kill wire is shorted to ground somewhere.
@@randomwrenching kill wire? Is that the wire the key connects to because I took that off this summer and never reconnected it, and it worked fine
@@xVoidCypher Yes, thats the wire. But the best way to diagnose a coil problem is to remove the wire right at the coil, and see if it sparks. That will eliminate everything else in the circuit.
@@randomwrenching I took off the coil pack today and forgot to check to spark, but I'm curious to know if this is an electronic ignition or a points and condenser system if you know off hand
@@xVoidCypher Sould be electronic ignition after the early 1980's
Start this maintenance overhaul project tomorrow! I'm just a little unclear as to what is recommended for the oil points vs the grease points. I have some good grease bur what should I use for oil? Just 5w30 engine oil? I have one of those tin man oil pump cans 😁
Hey Jared, you can lube just about all the moving parts with oil. The hex shaft that the drive wheel slides on should be greased very lightly with white lithium grease. Make sure to avoid any lube on the wheel or the aluminum drive disc.
what is your personal machine or recomendations? I'm looking to get a new blower or used if I can find a good one
My own personal blower is a Husqvarna with an LCT engine on it. Never had a single problem with it. Whatever you are looking at to buy, just have a peek under the belly to make sure it doesn't have a plastic transmission.
It seems easier to just pull the manifold off at the engine.
Sometimes I do it that way. Usually, the gasket gets torn on the head side, but it survives if I take the carb off the manifold instead.
What spark plug do you recommend as the best replacement for this model?
A good old Champion RJ19LM is used in these flathead workhorses.
@@randomwrenching thank you!
you sound like mike Rowe.
😎👍
